Heart (yin, water*, heroism, summer). Core, moral, major positive charge.

Soul (death, fire, justice, fall). Core, status, minor negative charge.

Dream (life, earth*, defiance, spring). Desire, status, minor positive charge.

Dark (yang, air, compliance, winter). Desire, moral, major negative charge.

Heart matter is associated with yin and water*, for its inherent positive + charge and adaptability, respectively. Heart births are known for their heroism, and sometimes they demonstrate adaptability on the caliber of extremophilia, like their matter. TQ used to call it "baryonic matter"!

Soul matter is associated with death and fire, as both represent suffering and endings. Soul births are judges; they bring justice to those who do bad things. It's super hard to change the properties of Soul matter, considered exotic.

Dream matter is associated with life and earth*, as earth is seen as a "starting point" for lots of living things. Dream births are known to bend space-time to complete the dreams of themselves or others, from an internal drive to keep living.

Dark matter is associated with yang and air, for its inherent negative - charge and presence in seemingly "empty" space. A lot of the time, Dark births try to claim as much space as possible. Not to be confused with the species of the same name, a derivative of some Dark births.

*Sometimes, in retrospect, I think I should have switched Heart and Dream's elements. So heart would have earth for strength and perseverance, and dream has water for efficiency and potential, and a Fountain of Dreams reference (for lack of a better term.) And opposite elements would be on opposite sides!
