first time I'm posting about my main Deltarune OC and it's him and Spamton in the Dashcon ballpit

Okay so I had some thoughts on this, and discussed with some folks in the BR fan server —

An alternate universe inspired by this bomb ass one (op does absolutely amazing work btw)

It’s really messy and full of holes and silly but bear with, it’s literally just for fun so:

Tenna picks up the phone in front of big shot Spamton, in this AU Spam meets Tenna as his career is taking a sharp downturn, he needs this young, fresh and charismatic man to save his future. To his shock and horror, the voice on the other end says that the contract has been broken, and eludes to Spamton disappearing from Tenna’s life. While Tenna is paralysed on this call, Spamton runs off, terrified of what’s going to happen. These calls have obviously affected Spamton in horrible ways before, but for Tenna, it manifests as such a slip on reality that he hallucinates the rotary as Spamton himself and shoves it inside of him in a frantic hurry, pulling electrical tape around his whole midsection in a primal and obsessive need to contain his fames security. His star cannot leave, he needs to secure this big shot, whatever it takes, to guide him and love him.

Spamton was never trapped however, and the phone still rings around the mailman out in Cyber City. He cries and pleads for the voice to return and give him guidance, but the tinny mechanical thrumming of Tenna’s internals and muffled voice offer nothing of use. (Tenna meanwhile recognises the muffled man on the end and his delusion that Spamton is in there, is further solidified.)

Spamton still turns into a puppet, picking up the phone and having basically one sided conversations, him screaming down the receiver and Tenna murmuring to the familiar notes of his ex star. He thinks they’re having deep, emotional back and forths but a lot of it is just Tenna hearing stuff he wants to and responding in turn.

Eventually, Tenna’s just fully lost it, his career crumbles, Spam hasn’t ’spoken up’ in an age, and he wanders the streets of Cyber City mournfully, disgraced from his previous world. Spamtenna picks up a street call one last time, yelling through Tenna and hears Tenna’s voice twice, once, muffled, scarcely recognisable, through the phone and the other — somewhere nearby, clear as day, but with the same delivery and dips and rises. He follows this, and they reunite. Spamton recognises Tenna, Tenna doesn’t recognise Spamton, but they’re on the phone to eachother and face to face.

I like to think Spamton, without the threat of Tenna knowing who he is, eventually puts aside his horror at how obsessive his former ‘sort of’ employer is, and tries to help him through this realisation that it’s all been one big menty b. Of course, the puppet is fuming this big dumb TV was so down bad he truly thought he’d snapped him up years prior all to himself, and that he WASN’T talking to who he thought he was. He manages to convince Tenna to open up his sealed torso and Tenna discovers the phone. Spamton knows better than anyone how hard a big shot can fall, and feels a sort of begrudging obligation, Jimminy Cricket style, to help Tenna through this. Also, kind of feels weirdly good to have someone obsess over his long gone dream self, you know? Big ol ego stroke as a treat, while trying to therapise this mess. Tell me more about this spiffy, extremely impressive, handsome business man you fell in love with!! Etc

I’m not sure how things would go once Tenna eventually realises who Spam is, I figure that it’d take him a hot minute because he has to wrestle with the fact his reality has been turned upside down.

(It’s all very silly but I want to illustrate some imagery nonetheless. Feel like there’s something powerful in the concept of Tenna thinking there’s someone within him loving him and talking to him, and in reality it’s not really anyone but a very occasional phone pick up from a confused man-he-once-knew-turned-puppet, with most of the time silence)

FINALLY figured out the design for this AU!! Also just realized that cannibalism seems to be a really common theme in a lot of my AUs..
