Alleged Servant
SEBASTIAN of HOUSE EDGCOMBE is a DOUBLE AGENT FROM MERLE. He is played by GRANT GUSTIN and is TAKEN.
[+] Adaptable, devoted, proactive
[-] Deceitful, impulsive, vengeful
SEBASTIAN’S STORY
Sebastian feels like he has always been watching out for the big Something. Born into a clan of assassins from the deep Hinterlands, Sebastian learned vital points when most children were learning to read. He was but a baby when his family was conscripted by the royal family of Merle to take out political unfavorables. When tensions between Merle and Lysfelt became higher, he watched his family get smaller and smaller until it was just him. It was at this point thatshe moved into the castle of House Bartolomeus to seek work. Despite being a child, Sebastian became a servant for the Queen, who was pregnant with the kingdom’s first child.
When the castle of House Bartolomeus was raided, Sebastian watched from a hiding spot in the floorboards as a Lysfeldian soldier cut the Queen open and extracted the premature prince, set to have been named Kurt. He couldn’t make out particular faces, but he saw the man swaddle the newborn. Years later, Sebastian would find out that the Lysfeldian queen had kidnapped the baby to cover up her own adultery.
In between the years of the castle raid and his reconnaissance at the castle of House Kent, Sebastian traveled the land acting as a mercenary for hire. It was during this time that he learned aether weaving, though with no ties to the Chancel, he learned to hide his talents well. So well, in fact, that he has the ability to transform into a raven to avoid the hand of the Chancel coming down on him.

Adopted Prince
KURT of HOUSE KENT is the ADOPTED PRINCE FROM MERLE. He is played by CHRIS COLFER and is TAKEN.
[+] Conscientious, gentle, persistent
[-] Acerbic, secretive, skeptical
KURT’S STORY
Kurt has also been taking aether weaving lessons from Sebastian in the dead of night twice a week. Though he knows it is against his father’s wishes to fight, Kurt can’t help but want to do something to help the war efforts, should a situation without Blaine arise. He has rationalized that aether weaving can also be used to heal just as much as it can be used to hurt.
Kurt of House Kent was to House Bartolomeus, the ruling family of the Hinterlands. He is unaware of this lineage, and believes himself to be related by blood to House Kent. However, Kurt is quite aware of the differences in paternal love that his father gives to his brother, with Kurt receiving the short end of the stick.
Having been locked up in a castle for the majority of his life, Kurt sollicites information from Sebastian, one of the castle maid. He has learned about the war only from what Sebastian has told him, causing him to feel deeply conflicted. However, as the dutiful prince to the kingdom that raised him, he believes in his brother to be the one to reconcile the differences between the two kingdoms.

High Priestess of the Chancel
RACHEL of HOUSE LAWRENCE is the HIGH PRIESTESS OF THE CHANCEL. She is played by LEA MICHELE and is AVAILABLE
[+] Faithful, sincere, warmhearted
[-] Conservative, dogmatic, patronizing
RACHEL’S STORY
Rachel was raised by the Chancel after her entire village was destroyed in a raid. Because of this, she believes in peaceful alternatives and diplomacy, contrary to battle. This is further backed by her promise to her dying mother: Rachel had butchered the man who stabbed her mother as her mother watched. With her dying breath, Rachel’s mother made her promise she would never dirty her hands with blood again.
Blessed with the gift of foresight, Rachel can see into the future. Typically, a ritual is required to activate her gift, but it also occasionally arises without her control. When Rachel was found by the Chancel after the raid, she had a vision of corruption within the Table of Stewards, the ruling body over the Chancel. It was with reservation that she accepted help from the Chancel, recognizing that by herself, she would die.
As a High Priestess, Rachel has taken a vow of chastity in the name of the First Builder and obedience to the Chancel. While she takes her position and its responsibilities quite seriously, Rachel is deeply unsettled by recurring dreams of her vision when she first was found by the Chancel. These dreams have become more nuanced in the passing months as the war has become more serious: she saw the Table of Stewards feeding mana, a highly reactive and addictive aether-based substance, to several acolytes to try and incite foresight. The results were varied, as some became slaves to mana and the hand that fed them, while others were poisoned and died on the spot.

Crown Prince
COOPER of HOUSE KENT is the CROWN PRINCE OF LYSFELT. He is played by MATT BOMER and is AVAILABLE.
[+] Diplomatic, hard-working, sensitive
[-] Anxious, impulsive, overcritical
COOPER’S STORY
Cooper is the only child born to King Aloysius and the late Queen Calliope. He doesn’t remember his mother, as she was killed by a Merle assassin when Cooper was two years old. The crown prince is unaware that the reason his mother was killed was for kidnapping his brother, Kurt, from the Hinterlands, as she had lost her second child and needed to bear another son. King Aloysius revealed this to Cooper before lapsing into a feverish coma.
Having grown up in the public eye, Cooper is very conscious of how he presents himself. Though wholly dutiful to the kingdom that will become his, albeit sooner than he originally thought, Cooper is unsure of whether his studies will prepare him for actually being the leader he needs to be, particularly in the face of a war.
Cooper has a very good relationship with his younger brother, Kurt. Growing up, it was usually just the two of them, resulting in a bond much thicker than blood. Cooper would never tell him directly, but he envies Kurt’s freedom from obligation. It is because of this freedom that Cooper has hesitated telling Kurt his true lineage, as he worries that the truth may cause Kurt to sway a particular way in the heightened emotions of battle.

Paladin Captain of the Guard
QUINN of HOUSE CHATWYN is the PALADIN CAPTAIN OF THE GUARD. She is played by DIANNA AGRON and is TAKEN.
[+] Decisive, intuitive, self-disciplined
[-] Aloof, obstinate, quick-tempered
QUINN’S STORY
At age five, Quinn lost her parents during a village raid, when her mother placed her in their hidden bunker with a promise that she would return for her. Quinn waited three days in the bunker before she was found by a knight, who took her to the castle and surrendered her to the state. She was raised by the Chancel until she was old enough to properly hold a blade and escape the life of a priestess.
Quinn and Rachel were friends from childhood, having grown up next to each other in the same village. However, Quinn now believes Rachel to be weak-willed, where she would rather fight for what she wants. It is this determination and quick-wit is what skyrocketed Quinn to the ranks of Captain of the Guard, despite being the only woman to have ever walked into the barracks. Given her gender and the fact that she is the youngest Captain in fifty years, Quinn doesn’t give her soldiers a break and expects perfection out of them.
There is a part of Quinn that still blames Rachel for never looking for her and immediately surrendering herself to the Chancel. While she despises her former best friend’s spinelessness, she recognizes within herself that she cannot hurt women and children, even if they are on the enemy’s side.

Retainer of the Prince
BLAINE of HOUSE FULBURNE is PRINCE KURT’S RETAINER. He is played by DARREN CRISS and is TAKEN.
[+] Affable, loyal, passionate
[-] Careless, impatient, over-zealous
BLAINE’S STORY
Blaine is arguably the best swordsman in Lysfelt--a skill set that gave him consideration for Captain of the Guard. However, his strong moral alignment kept him from the ranks, as Blaine has been shown to barge headfirst into combat without any consideration for formation. This is due to dedication to his lord or lady and an enthusiasm that can’t be beat.
It’s no secret that women love Blaine; he’s easy on the eyes and chivalrous to a T. It isn’t uncommon for him to return from a day in town with small tokens of affection, which Blaine incorrectly associates with his dedication to the throne, as opposed to his broad shoulders and easy smile. When asked, Blaine will always respond that the only person he has his eye on is Prince Kurt. Whether he means professionally or personally has yet to be seen.
Blaine’s childhood is a mystery. As a child, he was found by his mentor, Sir Donough, on an unmarked path with a deep gash on the left side of his head. Sir Donough nursed him back to health with help from the Chancel, and though the wound healed, Blaine suffers from the occasional migraine on the left side of his head as a result.
