animal jam rant

hi! i’m here to rant about animal jam because i have a lot of stuff i want to get out there but i don’t want to annoy my friends with my kids game obsession for the 100th time. — so, yeah. what’s this rant even about? well, it’s about how aj has really,, lost it’s touch. it’s spark. whatever i watched the old trailer that you would get when you made an account from like 2012-2014. the return of the alphas trailer. it’s the one that i first saw when i made my first account long ago and it really shows how much the game has gone from “be your favorite animal?? yes! you can do that!!! learn about animals too?? sure thing!! just be fascinated by the outdoors and go explore?? learn?? absolutely!!” to “hey new diamond shop spikes this weekend only!!!” it’s lost what made it so special which was that it was an online playground to learn it took the idea of being one’s favorite animal and exploring, learning, and making friends and made it into an online game and that’s what set it apart from other online games at the time and now it’s digging itself an even deeper hole ever since NGK stopped being associated with the game. they’re silently killing off everything to do with national geographic. and well, that’s what animal jam was. the national geographic kids game. stuff like the journey book, brady barr’s video adventure thing, and basically anything educational are being quietly killed off. anything to do with national geographic. and it’s really sad to watch. it’s depressing to watch something so special become like everything else. and the thing is; nobody’s talking about it. not the jambassadors, not ajhq, and barely the community. nobody’s really talking about it. and another thing: the game itself. the updates, everything, they’re all going to shit. let’s face it. there’s nothing to keep the game fresh. multiple people have been talking about this part. basically, it’s like this: there’s new content being added, but no new features. i understand it’s hard to release new features all the time, but the game’s starting to feel like a recycling bin. every 2 weeks we get a newly colored item. or a party just with one or two new items than last year. or an animal recolored with a new pattern. maybe they’ll remind everybody about the geckos video again, just with new pictures. the last big feature added was masterpieces. but that’s really it. if you compared the last 5 years of animal jam to now? the only big thing you would have missed is masterpieces. animal jam is kind of just digging itself a hole, really. and it’s just terrible to see. but how can we fix it? there’s not much we as a community can do, but there are two ideas i have currently on what ajhq can consider doing: - animal jam needs to have it’s own spark that sets it apart from other games. something that makes it unique. something that makes it interesting again. - stop. recycling. content. it’s fine to do every so often, but that’s all these past few years have been. the game is getting stale. add new features. actually listen to the community. add things to the game that change it up and make it more interesting. stop adding new spikes every other update. i hope this has made you think somewhat. feel free to share this with other people. i hope there are some people out there who agree with what i’ve said here.
