These are some fun animatronic dinos I saw at the Copenhagen Zoo today. They have them as part of their dinosaur exhibit.
.
Nice! I couldn't find much about this exhibit from a quick search, but I'll add it to my list of animatronics to look into later

This was my visit on 6/1/24, the studio C bot, was on random movements, they still had all the art, I don't know when they are going to remodel if they are, but it was a pretty cool visit due to this location being one of the only ones with the stain glass mural from the PTT days left, besides the corporate offices

My first post on here, I've been into animatronics for awhile now, and been into chuck e cheese for the same amount of time, and finally got to visit one with a animatronic, due to the one in my area getting the 2.0 remodel years ago

Dinos Alive! at Lowry Park Zoo (aka ZooTampa) in Florida
As my first mod post, I really wanted to share a beautiful exhibit I attended with my partner last year!  For the whole summer, and even for a brief time during October, our local zoo featured an attraction called “Dinos Alive!”, which has over 30 moving dinosaur animatronics.  Several of them make noises, and many of them have feathers as well.  All of these animatronics are fully outdoors during the course of their exhibit, rain or shine.
And some of them are really quite big!  Here’s a photo of me being very excited to be next to this over 10 foot tall Quetzalcoatlus animatronic!:
Tumblr media
You could also get an idea of the scale and beauty of most of these animatronics from this promotional video posted by the zoo in 2017.  The parts with the most animatronics starts at about 1:30.  Additionally, you can see some of the animatronics I didn’t capture in my own footage in this video posted by Attractions Magazine!
The exhibit includes a small immersive game as a framing device that you can play if you wish, but if you could tell from the video, my partner and I were more interested in going “WOW” and reading the names of the dinosaurs off of their informational placards than anything else!
This exhibit was first advertised as Dino Quest in 2011, and was rebranded in 2014.  The machines themselves are made by Billings Productions, a company that specializes in educational animatronics of dinosaurs, giant bugs, and more.  Based on their own 2011 promotional video for Dino Quest, it seems as though some of the dinos (including my dear Quetzalcoatlus) have received updates to their skins over the years, including adding feathers to some of them!  Their animatronics are truly beautiful, and it’s easy to fall down a rabbit hole watching the videos on their website.  They’ve made dino animatronic sets for quite a few museums and zoos, including a couple that have been mentioned on this blog previously, and have been doing so since 2004,
There’s been no indication that Dinos Alive! will be coming back to our zoo this year, but the zoo has run this exhibit several years in a row since 2017, so they may surprise us still with an event later in the summer.  Here’s to hoping we get to see these sweet prehistoric beasts again!
