Beastars: Episode 8
GO JUNO! KICK LOUIS'S ASS!
I really don't know who to be rooting for anymore. All of these characters are so deep and wonderful. Flaws and perfections.
The head turn when Juno refers to Legosi in front of the drama club was hysterical. I had to rewind several times to see it again.
I'm loving this show!

Beastars: Episode 7
Damn! This blows Episode 4 out of the water. From the beginning Gag with the chicken, to the backstory of Louis and Haru (Louis is forgiven, this isn't so bad), to the comedic clash of Louis and Legosi in the garden, to Jack (god bless this precious man) finding the magazine, to Juno (so perfect for Legosi) to the revelation at the end of the episode. This was a fantastic mix of gasps and laughter.
While the "eggs" question was resolved... HOW THE FUCK IS BAMBI A THING?
Poor Juno...
The ED changed, I like it!

Beastars: Episode 6
Well this is a lot of murky shit they just introduced. It's so hard to deal with realities like this. I'm sure there is some deep philosophy and psychology in the real world that delves into theories and concepts like that of Beastars's "dark market". I hope we continue to see Legosi believe in his ability to rise above what everyone expects him to be. The breakdown and reinstallation of hope in this episode from the psycho-panda to Aoba's refusal to take part in the fingers... it was so well put together.
We're gonna ignore the question of whether or not I think Juno was an attractive character, despite knowing that the writers wrote it to be that... let's just ignore all of that.
Zoozle is so amazing. I love it.
Forgot to mention it last episode, but Jack immediately became one of my favorites. He's just so... dog-like. Playful, cheerful, energetic. As Legosi's friend, he is such a complement. Also, "You get depressed whenever you get the chance," is SUCH a mood!

Beastars: Episode 5
Alright, it's hard to follow up Episode 4... especially with the frustration at seeing Louis in that bed and the second hand embarrassment of Legosi's interactions with Haru! I hope he gets better at this.

Beastars: Episode 4
This episode was such a roller coaster. The play with emotions when Legosi let's his punches fly is fantastic. He's not just beating the shit out of Bill, he's beating the shit out of himself.
Louis is a fantastic character, too. His strong sense of duty defines his character. He knows what he has to be for the people. Seeing the dynamics of Louis's and Legosi's characters bring them through the arc that is their friendship is breathtaking. Episode 4 will be one of the best once I'm done with Episode 12; I can feel it!

Beastars: Episode 3
Legosi's assertion to Louis was really powerful this episode. Paraphrasing, "There is not pride in a wolf being strong. It's more important that you are strong." That hit me hard. I love seeing the weakness and faults in Louis, this perfect child of the school. Flaws in the perfect are something I love to see in a character. I love how this show plays with expectations. There are different expectation interactions (society of individual, individual of society, and individual of individaul). I'm really enjoying watching this unfold.
Sidenote, the intricacies of how the different animals interact is so cool! The detail about rodents walking close to the walls to avoid being trampled shows how much the creators care. Sure, they dropped the ball with eggs as far as I'm concerned... but the rest is pretty damn good!

Beastars: Episode 2
Not my favorite OP, but that's ok!
The inner struggles of Legosi are SO fun to watch.
If there are obviously birds in this show... where the hell do the eggs come from?!?!
As someone who overthinks EVERYTHING I really feel for Legosi in the last bit of this episode. I can't wait to see how that situation plays out.

Beastars: Episode 1
I love the society this show is building so far. It uses very familiar themes and ideas to build a system of expectations and fears. On the social side, you have the human mistake of prejudice and profiling paired with the realistic and understandable separation from animal to animal, carnivore to herbivore. This coupling of animal and human behavior is so easy to sympathize with. I'm hooked!
Other acknowledgments go out to the use of music. Any time a track started playing, it felt meaningful and well placed. The first episode also uses dramatic suspense perfectly. It had me calling out for an apology for our protagonist (I still don't have names down yet) after he delivered the letter.
I hope the rest of the show is this good!

First post, I guess...
Hey, people I don't expect to read this! Hope you're having a nice life lately. One night, I just decided, "Fuck it! I'mma return to Tumblr and start blogging about the things I like." Some of that is probably the anguish that is being a college student and sitting at home while COVID-19 stops life from happening... we're all going through that though, right?
I did use Tumblr in the past... I used it without a purpose until it consumed my days and I decided it best to quit. Now I'm here with a purpose: to tell all of you the things I think when I experience new media.
Right now that's mostly going to be anime. I've been keeping up with My Hero Academia and not watching much else. Now I'm about to dive into Beastars after reminding myself a couple hundred times this doesn't make me a furry. I get if that's for you and all (kinda... not really but I respect you and your life choices) but it's certainly not for me. I have high hopes going into this show. I've heard it tackles some pretty great themes with a nice story. I guess I'll find out! Stay posted (haha you probably won't) as I react to it here! Yay, writing outlets.
I could keep a journal, but I might make some new friends (haha probs not) or at least have some good convos. See ya!
