Luke apollogist in my comments: I'm a luke understander not a defender.
Me -deadpan staring at them-: Honey if your having to relabel something to make yourself to make yourself feel better about it. Then you have a problem. And you know it. You just don't want to admit it.
Because that's all that is. Its a relabel.

I don’t know who needs to hear this but if a character barely appears to begin with them maybe, maybe (since it’s not confirmed) being cut from the show is not really a cut
Some of y’all have not actually read the books in ages. And are going off of the fanon.
Because Silena has a grand total of one reference.
And Charlie gets a couple more shout outs but it’s really for two total scenes.
They don’t become an active presence in the series until the short stories and TLO. Like there’s some references yes. But they aren’t major players in the stories. Not enough for casting
And if they’re considering cutting another even higher priority character since BOTL has not been confirmed yet due to contracts. Then those two who barely get any screen time contrary what the fandom remembers. Are not going to be cast yet.
At least not based on what we know
Now that could change as we get more information later. (Writing this on 7/15/25). Yes! But based on what we know right now. There isn’t any reason for them to be vast because again contrary to what the fandom remembers they really are not in SOM
And this is not me hating on them
This is just a fact.

I hate the 22-hour myth because it makes no sense. You have all these other merits for Annabeth. All these things she actually did, and you can prop her up on, and you choose to make up something that is a physical impossibility without killing her, since Percy, who is one of the strongest of his generation, held the sky for 10 minutes.
I'm sorry Annabeth who has no powers would not survive holding it for that long let alone a few hours. It just doesn't make sense.
I'm not sure who started this but it does not make sense.
And I am saying this from a place of caring. I have my issues with her at times. But I do care about her. She has so many things she absolutely did do as a character. You did not need to make up something she could not do.
Prop up what she actually does. She has plenty of it.
You don't need the physically impossible thing.
Just say she survived holding up the sky. Since we don't actually know how long it was.
#percy jackon and the olympians#percy jackson and the titans curse#not tagging either annabeth tag since I'm not really sure which one is appropraite here....#percy jackson#before someone goes you don't know if this is made up i looked extensively for a source if its out there i can't find it#if rick said it then i love rick genuinely but this was over the top

Annabeth has a bad habit of misdirecting her anger in general. Usually it shows up with things related to Chiron
(see the infamous you’re a coward line where she’s actually pissed at Chiron for keeping Percy away by not telling him what’s going on for the gods knows how many time. But refuses to admit that’s what she’s feeling because that’s her father figure and ‘No we can’t blame him’ and unleashes it in the absofucking worst way possible).
But this is also another example of it.
Girl needs therapy. Not a relationship not until she learns to sort out these anger management issues.
Has needed it for a very long time since it never should have reached the point of her anger being redirected to judo flipping Percy.
This should have been nipped in the bud when it became apparent it was becoming a serious problem during BOTL when she used her jealousy/anger to retraaumatize Percy over the Mrs O Leary situation. And that’s not even starting on Grover.
But it never was.
Finding a good blog to follow on pjo is so hard because you'll get like 10 good posts and then the 11th will have blatant abuse apologism and borderline victim blaming:

Do we really need to start reminding people that Percy had no control whatsoever over being kidnapped!? he barely knew what was happening!! He had his memories wiped!! How the fuck does he deserve to be physically assaulted?? HE WAS KIDNAPPED!!
Not to mention that like. the first time he went missing? yeah he nearly died. He would have died if Hera had not intervened and sent him to Calypso, who used her healing powers to save him. And then Percy returned to chb - returned to a building war and death sentence - as soon as he was recovered and physically able.
Hera deserved the judo flip. Not Percy. She took Percy twice. Annabeth, your anger is misdirected, please use your Athena given brains. You have them for more than one reason.

Me: -debating about how to handle Comic Con on Saturday sans Marvel since I've never done Comic Con sans Marvel-
Me: -starts telling my friend about the absolute insanity that was the 2014 Comic Con Saturday Panels-
Me: Oh yeah thats why it might be worth it because even without Marvel. The studios like to engage in a game of how much can we one up each other and it can have some absolutely insane results for attendees.

That moment where you’re just staring at dialogue that’s just so weirdly aggressive that you can’t even get what Rick was aiming for. Like this isn’t even friendly banter at this point.

Rereading the books, there are moments you can just tell when Rick didn't do research. Because a 50-mile Dead zone around Manhattan is so overkill.
First of all there is no way the mortals didn't notice lets be real even if it was a mile.
Second of all at 50 miles that goes so far across the eastern seabord that you are taking out several cities not just including NYC/Manhattan in the sleep spell now.
Rick I love you but you really needed to work on your research at times. This was so overkill. This would have been more appropriate for LA.
Not NYC.
#percy jackson#percy jackon and the olympians#its so overkill its honestly hilarious#percy jackson and the last olympion#if you don't believe me on the radius check the book i am not joking 50 mile radius#at that radius the mist should have crashed and burned lets be real#for the non americans that is well well past New York

That moment when you just get to something so fucking dumb that you just can’t defend the writing because it’s so fucking dumb.

this is such a fucking dumb choice. There is a rivalry and then there is just making a character being stupid to the point of making another character a pushover for some weird ass reason. And this is the later.
Why the fuck is Demeter being like this to Hades?
Oh they have a rivalry.
I get that but he is offering her sanctuary. He did not have to do that. For her to disparage his house and him when he is offering sanctuary to her during an active war.
Is such a fucking dumb move.
It makes no sense.
It makes Hades look like a pushover to her for some reason.
Xenia is a two way street. And it does not look good on her to be pulling this kind of bullshit.
There are better ways to show off a rivalry than to make Demeter look incredibly dumb. Which is what this does. Because he did not have to offer her sanctuary. And this is how she repays him.

Probably one of the biggest earliest ironies of The Last Olympian. Is by Chiron not ever clarifying the 'Shall Reach 16' thing to Percy. Is that inavertidely got Percy doing the one thing Percy probably wouldn't have done under normal circumstances. Accidentally. Because he didn't have all the correct information.
Which was trying to change the prophecy.
Cause first he tries to engage Kronos first thinking he can beat Luke because he does not understand that it's not a matter of he needs to beat Kronos around 16. No he has to be 16.
And then there's the thing in Atlantis where he thinks he can make the decision to stay there to help his Dad also at the time. Which if he had stayed down there long enough would have eventually qualified actually.
But still didn't fully work at the time again because he wasn't actually 16.
But again he was accidentally engaging in a Greek Mythos No-No. When he usually doesn't. Because Chiron despite knowing about the Andromeda plan didn't think to maybe give a carefully worded warning to avoid Kronos and it not being time yet.
#percy jackson#percy jackon and the olympians#anti chiron#i just had to point this out to someone out#*else

Also the mortal point thing in the book is the case of (as much as I love Rick) of wanting something without having put enough of the the work in. Because at that point Percabeth was nowhere ready for that kind of thing.
Literally the last thing Annabeth says to him before he bathes in the styx is that infamous 'You're a coward, Percy Jackson' comment. And as wild as that is and out of nowhere as it is. You can see there are other issues with their relationship in the book. And they haven't really reached a point of having a good working friendship/romance yet.
Let alone to the point where that kind of argument feels like an outlier.
So it feels like the mortal point moment doesn't feel earned. It feels weird. Like it makes sense after their romance is more established of course. But...that's not something that should be happening when you don't have a good established relationship.
Especially after that infamous comment.
You need to build the framework into it. Not retcon it.
Really hoping Rick fixes it for the show if we hopefully get to The Last Olympian because boy does it need fixing.

(Before I get into this I don’t hate Annabeth. I am just really frustrated with her at the moment with her actions in The Last Olympian.)
Not me realizing that Nico shows more emotional maturity in helping Percy with his grief around Beckendorfs death than Annabeth.
Like it’s not said that he seeks outs Beckendorf on purpose after he dies. But you can probably infer it. And he makes a point of passing on the message from Beckendorf to Percy that he doesn’t blame him for what happened on the Andromeda
Meanwhile Annabeth who threw the weirdest ADHD snowball I have seen as an ADHD person myself. After Percy tried asking her for advice on what Rachel saw. Accused him of being a coward for no reason other than some weird thing than maybe relating back to Rachel since they weren’t even talking about the prophecy at the time
(Because yeah people forget they weren’t talking about the prophecy then. They were talking about Rachel. The coward comment came out of left field with no warning.)
And when we get to funeral scene. She’s still so caught up in this weird ass mentality. She can’t stop to think that her friend of four years might need some comfort from her after everything he’s been through. And instead spends the entire scene ignoring him.

Like I get that Nico was forced to grow up fast after Bianca’s death. But so was Annabeth in her own ways. And yet somehow the 12 year old is showing more emotional maturity of the two of them.
And I guess you could argue this maybe ties back to Nico being a Hades kid. But arguably shouldn’t need that connection to have some emotional maturity.

Also it really should be talked about more the fact that Chiron's decision to 'protect' Percy. By not telling him the extremely important detail that he can't make the important decision that will lead to Kronos' defeat until he is 16.
Is what leads to Percy getting in a situation that leads to him nearly getting killed. And yeah sure Nico's next in line for the prophecy. But lets be real four years of war would have screwed over the pantheon. Especially with Typhon on the loose.
(which by the way for the boy, girls, and everyone else in between who forgot like I did. Typhon was already on the loose when the Andromeda shit went down.)
Chiron nearly screws over the entire pantheon. Despite knowing about the mission. Despite knowing what they were doing. Despite knowing full well there was a non zero chance Percy could end up in a fight with Luke.
Like he may not have known the exact timing. But he knew the mission would have to go off before Percy was 16. If for no other reason than to tackle it before Typhon gets to NYC. Simple math.
And never once stops to think Hey maybe I should mention to avoid Luke,Kronos because he can't be defeated right now do to the prophecy's wording.
Maybe not say the actual words since the Gods aren't allowing it. But you can get around it by getting creative Chiron.
And like idk if Bechendorf would have survived since the spying was still going on. But at least his odds would have increased. And overall Percy wouldn't have come that close to dying from having his soul nearly reaped from engaging in a fight that you are partly responsible for.
For again not adequetly warning him for.
What the actual fuck Chiron.

Also I never thought about this but how pissed was Belos about the fact he was stuck using a term that historically had ties to Greek mythology? A paganism religion that you know he had to hate?
Like there is absolutely no way he didn’t try to get them to drop the title of Titan at some point. And absolutely spectacularly failed at it.
