Rae had failed to hear the quiet growl that softly echoed through the hollow mountain, but Windslash had heard it, had sensed the lurking figure that hid in the shadows. Slit eyes flickered from side to side as a hiss left the Monstrous Nightmare, the dragon's own heated breath accompanied by a threatening flicker of flames. Rae tensed at the discomfort of her reptile companion, stepping a bit closer to her before the rumbling voice shook through her very being. She spun around, searching the dark shadows of the mountain cavern until her gaze fell onto two bright, burning eyes that all but towered over them, bringing the woman's voice to freeze in her throat.

Wandering Misfits {Hobbit/HTTYD Crossover Rp}

To travel the world had always been the dream of the young dragon rider; one that had always been in her heart. But, Rae was quickly finding that such a dream was much more difficult than she had originally believed. Days had blurred together by that point, the young woman having since lost track of how long she had been traveling with her reptilian companion. They had seen many things together, but the beauty of the land had faded away the day they had run out of food. Rae’s blue-scaled Monstrous Nightmare Windslash had done his best to hunt in these foreign lands, but he could only do so much. The land was filled with dense woods, making it hard for the large dragon to hunt. And so, with the chill of winter slowly beginning to settle upon this new land, the viking began to fear for them both. 

It was by chance that they happened upon the destroyed, ancient city of that lay at the foot of a grand, single mountain. It was a place of destruction and despair if the burnt, ash covered remains of the city’s residence was anything to go by. But, it looked to be centuries old. This desolate city was indeed a thing of interest, but it was the large opening at the mountain that truly caught her eye. The tall statutes that stood there seemed to be of men that looked similar to those one could find in Burk. But, as much as she wished to explore this new finding, Rae was more focused on getting inside away from the cold.
