Sometimes forecasts are late or wrong in prediction and most of the time you get screwed. This time it was a gift. The forecast gave hauling onshore NW winds all day untill 17.00 pm where the winds would die out completely but it too late to surf at that point. So we arrived at noon and spent 2-3 hours looking at an agitated sea abd there was nothing to give us hopes of surfing. But then at 14.00 the wind died 2hrs before the predicted,. In half an hour organised sets started to break. It was time to go in. Surfed till 17.30 with probably some awesome conditions and size. Surfers : Nicholas plytas , Vasilis Karageorgiou , Italo Soracco

Probably a system that we will wait for a couple of years to surf again. Hopefully not.
A 3 day system of South east winds combined with a low pressure system of south west swell gave as 2-3m high waves with offshore winds at a challenging spot named Kalonero in Western Peloponissos, Greece . Some sets were even bigger.
Special props to the Surfer from Patras, George Vlastos. Always out in Kalonero no matter weather , size and people holding cameras on the shore.
Enjoy.

North East winds send some choppy yet fun waves to Evoia. When the winds are 6-7bf strong the surf can be quite challenging as this is a shorebreak beach.
Location: Metochi beach ,Evoia,Greece
Surfers : Xronis,Elisavet,Aleksadrakias.

Western swell waves in Peloponnisos ,Greece

WSW swell 02-09-2014 This is one of the best waves i have been lucky enough to drop in. The location is Lagkouvardos beachbreak in Southwestern Peloponnisos http://magicseaweed.com/Lakouvardos-Surf-Report/4473/
I was also lucky to be on the target of the lens of https://www.facebook.com/giota.kerasioti?fref=ts at the right time!

West swell with Southwestern angle near the shore of Greece provides a solid surf since the main wind power is unleashed in south Italy and doesnt reach the shore. Kalonero http://magicseaweed.com/Kalo-Nero-Surf-Report/4474/ gave us a fine session before the wind changed its mind and made us head south to lagouvardos to an even better session ..check the next post.
Surfers : Vasilis Glitsis , Kon/ntinos Kourkoulis

August meltemi winds (N-NE) in the Aegeansea provide swells of 2-4ft which are usually combined with glassy conditions due to local thermal winds in Messakti beach, on the nothern part of the island in the region of Armenistis.
surfers : Missas Vassilis , Nikolas Plytas

When southern winds blow west from South Italy you get glassy waves of 7-9 secs period in Peloponissos. This time the waves were non stop all day long. The line up was quite frantic that day.
surfers : John Sapountzis, Kon. Kourkoulis , Xronis

On a 5ft South swell this place can give some long rides. Agrilis spot in Southwest Peloponissos could be my favourite place to surf.

This was a personal project . Single location in order to get some directed filming, one rider (Panos Manaras) and an edit to combine regular, slow & fast motion. Four cameras and three filmers participated in this in order to cover the angles we thought were the most interesting. Personally I have been riding this ramp since day one when its was more ghetto than ghetto and now after years of reshaping and getting done better I find it very absolutely fun and beautiful. So we used Canon 5D MK2 for details (at 1080p 30p) with a 50mm, Canon 60D for action (at 720p 60fps) with Tamron 24-70mm, Canon 550D with a Samyang 8mm at 720p 60fps on a ProAim crane and I also used a Sony FS700 as main camera & for the slow motion footage (1080p at 240fps) with Sigma 70-200 2.8 and Canon 17-35mm lens. We also used a dolly called Eazy Dolly which is an amazing tool and very smooth for the majority of our shots. I used a ProAim crane in order to get some shots of the whole ramp from above and some action on the spine (icepick over to over, and some flow riding). Quite a lot of things where also filmed on hand in order to give an edgier look on action. A note from my experience with FS700 is, its unique picture quality, dynamic field and colour depth. We didn’t use any external recorders but even with an SD card 28Mbps and 4:2:0 chroma the footage from that camera is superb. I realized it even more while colour correcting the footage. Everything was shot on neutral-flat picture style (sharpness to -4, saturation -4, contrast -2 and colour tone to 0). I use Adobe Premiere CS5 to edit and this video was edited at 720p and 30fps. I feel that 1080p footage downscaled to 720p is somehow nicer and crisper but this is an unscientific point of view. Although in europe we use PAL system I also wanted those NTSC extra 10 frames to help on slow motion and since its uploaded on the web it doesnt even matter. Editing wise having footage from 4 cameras can get quite hard in order to decide which angles to use. ItS quite difficult to make the picture style match as all these cameras have different sensors and different lenses on them but in the end its always a nice experience taat you can learn a lot of new stuff to add to your workflow.
