I modified my module and created a more dynamic structure that would emphasize different shapes and form a new structure that would work well together.

This is our inflatable sculpture blown up outside the work commons. Overall, our sculpture was very successful. If we were to expand on it, I think it would be a good idea to add some more nubbies.

These 3 configurations are examples of how my module will be put together once the pieces are created in woodshop. I am going to continue to create more configurations that change the arrangment of these pieces to see what I can make from these blocks.

These photos were the first part of our process in creating our inflatable stabile. We stared with getting the measurements and proportions, so that we would be able to create it in plastic. The last photo is our first time blowing it up. It was very successful the first time, but we saw that we could make improvements and add more nubbies so that is what we did.

These wood modules that I found on Pinterest were my inspiration for my 20 sketches as well as my module I then created. I liked the hexagon shape with the wholes in it, so I wanted to create my own module that had similarities to that, but was also very different.

For the second part of Project 1 we had to create a stabile out of chipboard. It was important for the chipboard to not have parallels and to have a dynamic and interesting composition. I think that each stabile I created got more complex and unique which led to my final stabile. After we completed our critique for our stabile, we had to create a clay sculpture that resembles the stabile.

For Project 1: Soft Sculpture-- My soft sculpture I created is a pink fluffy backpack designed for younger kids who are looking for a comfortable and light backpack for their classwork. Before I sewed this backpack together, my stuffed animal I deconstructed was a teddy bear.
Artist Statement: After taking apart each fluffy part of the teddy bear, I realized that I could make something incredible and unique out of the bear. Each part of the bear made me wonder what I could turn this deconstructed stuffed animal into. As I laid out the pieces of this animal, I knew I wanted to turn it into something you can wear. I didn’t know how I was going to do it, but I knew I had to try. At first, I thought I was going to make it into a belt. But then, I realized that a belt would not represent the bear in the way I wanted it to. So, I started arranging it in a way that would resemble a purse. After lots of sewing and arranging, I realized that a backpack would be the best representation of this stuffed animal.

For Mini Assignment #1 our task was to make a birthday present for our teacher that took her interests into account as well as making it into something interactive. After hearing everything that Jess liked, I thought it would be perfect to create a juke box for her because she loves karaoke. We made this art piece interactive by having a spinner for her to choose the Prince song as well as a microphone to sing the song. This assignment was overall very successful and very enjoyable.
