Beauty hors d’oeuvres: Feed your skin the Murad Prebiotic Skincare power duo

♥ © Copyright of My Women Stuff Original Full Post is found here: Beauty hors d’oeuvres: Feed your skin the Murad Prebiotic Skincare power duo
I don’t think you want to labour over another of my thesis-length posts today, so here’s just a (hopefully) quick beauty bite you can scan through.
Introducing a new range of products by Murad skincare, the Murad Prebiotic skincare range. I thought it was quite interesting, and you might too.

A few years ago, I’d noticed a slow but steady increase in brands introducing prebiotic or probiotic skincare. However, I had a bad reaction when ingesting probiotics (a post that still generates A LOT of discussion and interest), so I was a little wary. But I noted to a friend that it was a trend to watch.
Interestingly, the prebiotics/probiotics skincare trend hasn’t exploded as quickly as I thought it would. Perhaps, it’s more like a slow burn, that may only come to a head in the next year or two. Perhaps it will peter out. Who knows.
But Dr. Murad has gotten in on this trend, and I think that means something!

The Chanel Les Beiges Water-Fresh Tint rewards you for taking care of your skin, and I freaking love it to bits!

I love it when something I pass over, or don’t give much attention to, takes over my life and leaves me so in love with it, that I want to tell everyone just how wonderful it is. Such is how I feel about the brand new Chanel Les Beiges Water-Fresh Tint.
The first time I saw it in pictures, I thought it was a liquid bronzer, due to the depth of colour of the product. It wasn’t until I was told “It’s not a bronzer, it’s a foundation!” that I took a second look.
Hello, gorgeous!

I can predict that opinions will be wildly divided on this product. Many will deem it far too sheer and therefore too expensive. Many might struggle to see the point of the product.
I however, love it to bits! And I will tell you why. And before you ask, no, I do not have perfect skin either, as you will see

Beauty hors d’oeuvres: Bring your empties to L’Occitane Malaysia and be rewarded under their Big Little Things recycling campaign

♥ © Copyright of My Women Stuff Original Full Post is found here: Beauty hors d’oeuvres: Bring your empties to L’Occitane Malaysia and be rewarded under their Big Little Things recycling campaign
Earth Day 2019 has come and gone, and along with it, pledges of going green, separating and recycling waste, reducing the use of single-use plastics… often, platitudes.
There was a time when I’d mark these sort of ‘days’ and make these ‘pledges’, but no longer. I am honest with myself, and I will do what I can in my own little ways but I am not a green or eco warrior – not yet. Maybe never, because I’m honest and I will admit this to myself and to you. We all do what we can without ramming it down the throats of others.

However, I was at the launch of L’Occitane Malaysia’s Big Little Things recycling campaign, and I liked what I saw. I liked it enough that I’d tell you about it, because they appear to me to be more focused, more genuine, and more invested in the recycling cause for the reasons I’ll share below

Eat at Chez PB: Lactose-free Milk Coffee made right at home – Enjoy the Nespresso Flash Sale

♥ © Copyright of My Women Stuff Original Full Post is found here: Eat at Chez PB: Lactose-free Milk Coffee made right at home – Enjoy the Nespresso Flash Sale
This post is brought to you by Nespresso Malaysia. All opinions and experiments are my own.
A few months ago, I shared with you why you may want a Nespresso machine in your life. I didn’t expect to meet so many Nespresso fans!
But if you’re still unconvinced, I wanted to share with you today, yet another reason why you need (not want, NEED!) a Nespresso machine in your life – milk coffee brewed in the comfort of your home. Check out the Nespresso Flash Sale details below for some incredible savings.

I used to be an avid cappuccino drinker. It was my coffee of choice. However, I’ve been drinking my coffee black for many years now. The reason is this – lactose intolerance. Milk makes me bloat and feel very uncomfortable, so I learnt to do without.
What this means for me is sadly, no more cappuccino, or latte or macchiato or anything that involves adding milk to my coffee. I’d almost forgotten what milky coffee tastes like! It also means no cheese and creamy sauces either, for which my waistline thanks me LOL!
But I recently made a wonderful lactose-free Hazelnut Mocha Cappuccino right at home, with no attendant bloat, and my world shifted.

Travel Skincare Tip: To protect and nourish your skin in-flight, pick an Overnight Mask instead of a Sheet Mask

♥ © Copyright of My Women Stuff Original Full Post is found here: Travel Skincare Tip: To protect and nourish your skin in-flight, pick an Overnight Mask instead of a Sheet Mask
The one thing we all know about flying is this – it’s terribly exciting, and it dries you out to a husk.
For this reason, you are always advised to stay well hydrated, especially on long flights. Drink water regularly, at least once every hour, because airplane air is very very dry and drying both to your insides and to your skin.
In the past, and as I know many people still do, I’d get on board, rip open a sheet mask and leave it on to treat my skin in-flight. There will be the usual fun photos of you looking all scary, or pretending to scare your seat neighbour. But really, I think it’s a little passe these days, now that sheet masks have become the norm.

Instead, after some experimenting in a few recent flights (4 hours and up) I have found THE BEST solution for your in-flight skin hydration regimen – overnight masks aka sleeping masks.

Truth to tell I have little confidence in the It Cosmetics Confidence in A Cream and Confidence in A Cleanser
♥ © Copyright of My Women Stuff Original Full Post is found here: Truth to tell I have little confidence in the It Cosmetics Confidence in A Cream and Confidence in A Cleanser
Sometimes, you love a product so much you want to tell the world about it. Sometimes, you hate it so much, you want to tell the world about it.
But sometimes, you come across a product that you just feel so ambivalent about, that you don’t know if you want to tell the world about it.

Ladies and Gents, meet the It Cosmetics Confidence in A Cream and the Confidence in a Cleanser. I haven’t felt so ambivalent about a product in a long time
I figured however, that I would tell you about this, despite my ambivalence, because a few people had recently asked me about it, and whether I felt it was worth using or buying.
My answer was, in a nutshell, “It’s OK OK only” with a horizontal waggle of the hand LOL

Spending 7 days with the Clinique Fresh Pressed Clinical Overnight Booster with pure Vitamin A (Retinol)
♥ © Copyright of My Women Stuff Original Full Post is found here: Spending 7 days with the Clinique Fresh Pressed Clinical Overnight Booster with pure Vitamin A (Retinol)
Skincare products with Retinol or Vitamin A appear to be quite a buzzword this year. Me? I’m happy about it. It means I have more choices across the board, and brands have to work harder to impress. Win for the consumer!
One I had been curious about was the Clinique Fresh Pressed Overnight Clinical
Overnight Booster With Pure Vitamin A (Retinol). What a mouthful!

I’ll just call it the Clinique Fresh Pressed retinol, to keep things more concise.
When I heard about it, I was super curious. I am starting to incorporate products with Vitamin A (Retinol) into my skincare routine, so any new retinol product intrigues me.
I tested the Clinique Fresh Pressed Retinol over the past week, and here’s what I think. “But it’s only been a week!” I hear you say “Where’s your credibility?! Don’t you have to wait at least a month for results?”
Ah…

Travel Skincare Tip: Keeping up appearances on holiday or How to ace your base in low humidity
♥ © Copyright of My Women Stuff Original Full Post is found here: Travel Skincare Tip: Keeping up appearances on holiday or How to ace your base in low humidity
I know many of you travel, and cooler climes are always a favourite destination, to escape from our infernal tropical heat and humidity. But how often do you travel somewhere cool, and then find that your skincare isn’t holding up, or that your skin starts to flake and dry out and break out? Worst of all, this happens even after you return home!
Not only is it uncomfortable, your makeup doesn’t look good whether in person or in holiday snaps.

Well, I most recently went on such a holiday.
It was cold and windy, and the humidity was laughably in single digits. I knew my skin would suffer. So I made the necessary preparations, and I can happily report that after a week, the skin on my body was dry and itchy as heck! But the skin on my face was not only comfortable and near perfect, my makeup went on well and looked so natural and amazing too! Yes, I’m preening LOL!
So here’s some tips you should keep in mind when you travel from the hot and humid tropics to a cool, low humidity destination, and the products that helped me.

For an affordable, gentle makeup remover or cleanser, look no further than the Hada Labo 3 in 1 Hydrating Micellar Cleansing Water
♥ © Copyright of My Women Stuff Original Full Post is found here: For an affordable, gentle makeup remover or cleanser, look no further than the Hada Labo 3 in 1 Hydrating Micellar Cleansing Water
We haven’t heard of many new things coming out from Hada Labo in recent times, have we? It’s a brand I personally have an affinity with. If I had to recommend anyone something affordable, effective and easy to find, I usually tell people to try Hada Labo. I am after all also a big fan of their Premium Hydrating Lotion.
So, when I stumbled across news online about a new Hada Labo 3-in-1 Hydrating Micellar Cleansing Water, I perked up.

As good fortune would have it, I received a sample of this new micellar cleansing water and put it to work immediately!
It was quite literally, immediately. I showed it on Instagram Stories where I I used it for the first time, and talked briefly about my first impressions. It was quite recent, but it’s a cleansing product – it isn’t that complicated
So, do I like it?

Are you OK? : Being present for yourself and for others
♥ © Copyright of My Women Stuff Original Full Post is found here: Are you OK? : Being present for yourself and for others
Mental health and well-being is a big subject these days, and I think that it’s a good thing that we are all much more aware or self-aware than we used to be.
While I’m no life coach, nor am I trained in this, I had a little encounter over the past week and on the weekend that got me thinking. So, I just wanted to put out a little reminder to you. A reminder to be present for yourself and for your family and friends.

Sometimes, you just never know what people are going through, because they choose not to tell you, or they’re not ready to talk. But yet, they are stressed and feel like it’s hard to cope with life at that moment. Being present for them goes a long way towards helping them, if not solve their problems, to be able to face them or know that someone else is there for them.
I was thinking about this over the past week, and over the weekend, and just felt like talking about this

Let there be light! And there was Chanel Sublimage l’Essence Lumiere serum
♥ © Copyright of My Women Stuff Original Full Post is found here: Let there be light! And there was Chanel Sublimage l’Essence Lumiere serum
Late last year, I had the privilege of trotting off to a media event for the launch of 2 new serums in the exlusive Chanel Sublimage range, which I shared with you in great depth here.
I also had the distinct privilege of trying out both new serums – the Sublimage l’Essence Fondamentale, which I’ve already shared, and the Sublimage l’Essence Lumiere.

I was using it for a month back in December, and sporadically since. I usually try new products for a month straight where possible to gauge its efficacy. Over time, I incorporate it as and when I need it, usually because there’s always something else going on.
There’s an intricate dance of products being used and tested that I can’t quite explain, but it’s all kept straight in my head, and I know how it works LOL Ah #lifeofablogger – not all glamorous, I assure you
But onto the Chanel Sublimage l’Essence Lumiere – what is this and who might it be for?

Skincare Tip: The 13 dot technique has transformed the way I apply moisturizer and I love how my skin feels!
♥ © Copyright of My Women Stuff Original Full Post is found here: Skincare Tip: The 13 dot technique has transformed the way I apply moisturizer and I love how my skin feels!
How do you usually apply your skincare or, more specifically, your moisturizer?
The most common, that you still see being done, if you watch videos, is the 5-dot technique. Basically, you put one dot of cream on each cheek, then one dot each on your forehead, nose and chin. Then massage it in.
When I first started using skincare, this was the norm. But I always felt like something was lacking. For me, it just wasn’t enough, especially on the forehead.

And honestly, it isn’t enough product for your skin. Using too little skincare product for your skin does you a disservice. You won’t be getting the most out of your creams, serums and lotions.
So, I then learnt to spread it in my palm before applying to my skin. This served a two-fold function – I warm up the product, which helps it absorb better, and I ensure a more even application, ensuring that all of my skin benefits.
I had been doing it this way for many years, and I even had my conviction reinforced, that this was the best way to apply moisturizer.
But then, I recently stumbled on a new technique – the 13-dot technique.
And my life changed.

Those of you who have a more creative, experimental nature might be pleased to know that you can now get 100% Natural Shea Butter that comes from a fair-trade, reputable source. Just head on down to The Body Shop!

While The Body Shop has always had a shea butter range of products (I used to use their Shea Butter Body Butters for chronically dry skin – Dad swore by it for cracked heels!) I believe it’s the first time that we’re getting shea butter in its pure form.
So, what can you do with it?

Chanel Chance Eau Tendre Eau de Parfum – for days when I want to take a chance on a floral perfume
♥ © Copyright of My Women Stuff Original Full Post is found here: Chanel Chance Eau Tendre Eau de Parfum – for days when I want to take a chance on a floral perfume
The Chance by Chanel fragrance is not new to fans of the brand. I remember when the brand first launched it back in 2002 (many many moons ago). The round bottle was considered quite revolutionary back then.

I remember also that unlike the stiffer, more staid appearance of their classic scents like No. 5, Chance was targeted at a younger crowd. I would have formed that “younger crowd” back then, But being contrary, the scent didn’t appeal to me as it was a fruity-floral – not something I gravitate towards.
In between, there have been different iterations of Chance, all of which I’ve sniffed at some point or another. You may remember the different coloured liquids in the round bottles – green, yellow, and pink.
Might I then take another chance on the Chanel Chance Eau Tendre?

Feeling a lot of love for The Herb Farm Hydrating Overnight Face Mask – better late than never!
♥ © Copyright of My Women Stuff Original Full Post is found here: Feeling a lot of love for The Herb Farm Hydrating Overnight Face Mask – better late than never!
I’m such a slow-poke when it comes to featuring new things. It’s reached that stage where something has to be quite amazing (or horrible) for me to dedicate a whole post to it. Not being snobby, just being practical with my time and limited resources. If I could churn out a post everyday, I would!
Recently, I had the chance to meet with and speak to Sarah Cowan, Managing Director of New Zealand natural skincare brand, The Herb Farm. She mentioned that one of her favourite products was The Herb Farm Hydrating Overnight Face Mask, that kept her skin plumped and hydrated on her long flight from New Zealand. That is a full 11-13 hours flight, if anyone’s counting.

Something triggered my memory – I’d been generously sent a tub of this very product a while ago, but hadn’t yet tried it. And opportunely, I had a flight coming up, so I had the perfect opportunity to try it!

The Tatcha Luminous Dewy Skin Mist is quite possibly the most luxurious face mist I’ve ever tried
♥ © Copyright of My Women Stuff Original Full Post is found here: The Tatcha Luminous Dewy Skin Mist is quite possibly the most luxurious face mist I’ve ever tried
A few years ago, if you had asked me about face mists, I’d have scoffed at them. Today however, I’m a huge proponent of face mists! Coincidentally (or not), the market seems quite saturated with them, so I have my pick of the litter. I don’t do pure water mists anymore. My facial mists need a little more oomph!
Knowing how much I enjoy using face mists, a friend of mine had been waxing lyrical about the Tatcha Luminous Dewy Skin Mist for ages.

I had to try this! she proclaimed. It is one of the best face mists she’s ever used, keeping her skin well hydrated and comfortable in winter with its low humidity, and plumped up in hot hot summers.
Unfortunately for us here in Malaysia, it is next to impossible to get hold of Tatcha in stores. While it is sold in Sephora Singapore, it isn’t available here just yet. So, our next best option is to buy from the Tatcha online store, where shipping is astronomical.
I bided my time, until quite recently, a friend happened to be in Singapore, happened to end up with a spare bottle of the Tatcha Luminous Dewy Skin Mist, and so happened to remember that I wanted to try it! The stars were aligned!

What I think is worth checking out in the Chanel le Blanc Pierres de Lumiere 2019 makeup collection
♥ © Copyright of My Women Stuff Original Full Post is found here: What I think is worth checking out in the Chanel le Blanc Pierres de Lumiere 2019 makeup collection
Truth to tell, I was going to skip over the Chanel le Blanc 2019 Pierres de Lumiere makeup collection. This was more so after I was told, just after I’d received the products, that some of them are already out of stock at the boutique!
Whaaattt?!
It makes me feel a little redundant, truth to tell.

Also, I felt that the colours weren’t quite me. le Blanc collections tend to be heavy on light colours and pastels and truth to tell, can come across as insipid.
But there was one item in the collection that had caught my eye the day I saw it in the Chanel beauty boutique. It was the Tissages de Chanel blush in Tweed Beige. I thought it looked quite unique.
And then, I started playing around with the colours, and I realised that they were actually wearable, and some of the key items are permanent items. So I present to you the Chanel le Blanc Pierres de Lumiere makeup collection
