The must-read SPN fanfiction list: Fandomnatural’s list of favorite Supernatural fics

I asked fandomnatural what their favorite Supernatural fics of all time are - the must-reads, the top 3 (or 5, or 10, or more…) that they would recommend to someone new to the fandom. OH MY GOD SO MANY GREAT FIC RECOMMENDATIONS! Lots of people wrote in with epic lists! I’ve sorted them all alphabetically here. Most are Destiel but there’s a smattering of Wincest, Wincestiel, gen fics, Sabriel and some rare ships as well. This is by no means an exhaustive list, but it has a lot of the classics plus some lesser-known gems, and I thought maybe y’all would enjoy it as much as I did. Misha’s 2008 River Expedition

This is me and mike on the trip described in the article. funny thing about this was we did kayak and canoe down the LA river, but a lot of the time we had to carry our canoes and kayaks because the water wasn’t deep enough, so if any officials from the EPA had been with us they would have seen that in fact, it was not a “navigable waterway.” But lets not get bogged down in the details. (x)

On July 28, 2008 Misha and other kayakers started a illegal 51-mile, three-day journey down the LA River to Long Beach as a protest against the EPA’s decision to declare the LA River not a river because it wasn’t navigable. This made the group upset because it wouldn’t make the river eligible for the Clean Water Act. In 2010 the EPA would finally declare the LA River a river. 

Just this past summer, another organization decided to do another kayak ride and they solicited my involvement. It was going to be a 3-day expedition and after the first day, I said, “You know, guys, I’ve done this before and I know how awful it is and I don’t know why I’m doing it again.” So I quit on the expedition – I don’t like to be a quitter, but I did. - Misha
