The best piece of advice I ever got was not meant as advice, but as an edict. If I was going to threaten people as a joke, it had to be so far out of proportion with what happened that it would be obvious I was joking. This changed how I expressed frustration with others. It then changed how I expressed frustration with myself.

Not “I’m going to hit you” but “I am going to buy a tuna sub from the gas station and hide it under the seat of your car”

Not “I’m going to kill myself” but “I am going to walk into the desert and let the scarabs take me”

The other side then happened. When I mess something up, instead of saying it’s bad and perpetuating negative thoughts, swing hard the other way.

Not “this art is terrible” but “this shall be framed and mounted on the wall in my museum exhibition as testament to the suffering I had to overcome”

Have been doing this since high school. It was my drama teacher who asked me to please stop scaring the actors. The other half of the edict was that I had to say it in a polite tone, and end it with either please or thank you.

Life changing. 10/10 Mr Muëller. Highly reccomend.

thank you so so much to all the people who made this happen, including my publishing team, the indie bookstores who sold my book, and the readers who bought it from indies nationwide!

this is tumblr so i'll be more real with you. honestly making this list means so much to me because i know all these sales came from word of mouth and individual people's efforts—i wasn't part of any book clubs or subscription boxes, i didn't go mega-viral on tiktok, i wasn't super heavily pushed by my publisher's marketing arm. i did NOT think this would happen at all, i really 100% expected my book to completely fly under the radar and just barely sell enough to make a profit if even that. so thank you thank you thank you!!!!!

genuinely one of the saddest parts of this new era of the internet is how hard it is to rick roll someone now. with people's attention spans shortening so much, they wouldn't even get through the first few bait seconds before clicking off the video. like i saw a comment that ended with "btw i made all of this up" and the replies kept treating it so seriously because none of them finished the entire 4 sentence comment. and We're no strangers to love You know the rules and so do I (do I) A full commitment's what I'm thinking of You wouldn't get this from any other guy I just wanna tell you how I'm feeling Gotta make you understand Never gonna give you up Never gonna let you down Never gonna run around and desert you Never gonna make you cry Never gonna say goodbye Never gonna tell a lie and hurt you

Just finished Dear Wendy and I am not okay (but also I am okay cause OMG what a book😭) so relatable in so many ways and so freakin moreish, I could not put it down!!!! Thank you so much for writing this story, it made me feel less alone💜💚 but also can I hang out with these characters? I love them all so much

hey! it takes place in 2024, sophie and jo are in the class of 2027 (i.e. that’s when they graduate)

It was an absolutely wonderful read and it was great to see a more mature representation of aroace characters and how accepting you're aroace vs living as aroace are two very different challenges.
