A ship I absolutely love and wish was a little bit more popular is Spud! X Sarah steel.

Don’t get me wrong, I also really enjoy their friendship too. However, for me it’s become quite a comfort ship. (Spud! Was already one of my comfort characters so this was not surprising lol).

Spud! X Sarah just perfectly fall into a niche category of ship that I really enjoy. At its core it’s the quote, “everyone deserves love” but a little more complex. Basically, “Love is loving the way someone changes over time. Whether it’s a change that they choose to make or something forced upon them by the unfairness of life. That love that you feel does not flee, but rather grows and changes overtime to fit into the new cracks and crevasses. It keeps the pieces together while also not hiding the damage.” And that “Damage to the exterior of a piece does not change its beauty. It might to the every day passerby. but to someone who truly loves it, understands it, cares for it, it adds no weight to their heart”

Probably a little too deep for a Roblox game about getting into a diminutional elevator and having wacky adventures but hey, that’s just who I am baby!

(Also to the people running this account I saw your most recent post about how you guys are doing and I just wanted to wish y’all the best. You do a lot of fantastic work and to continue doing it for as long as you have is amazing. Really appreciate you guys!)

Something they don’t tell you about being in the Mother fandom is how much YouTubers love to use the soundtrack as background music/ noise (mostly Mother 2’s). I swear I just watched 4 videos in a row that all used the ost in one way or another.

The funniest part is knowing what’s happening during each song and being like “Oh, this guy is using Bad Morning to You, which plays after Ness and Jeff wake up in the hotel in Moonside, to emphasize that what they just read was strange and alarming” or “This person is using Home Sweet Home, the song that plays after Ness returns home from porky’s house, to indicate a soft, heartfelt moment in their Pikmin gameplay”.

I think the reason I have this thought process is because I like listening to the ost on its own but idk. It’s just kinda a little thing that I enjoy and makes me wonder if I just have a tendency to watch Nintendo nerds or if these people are just following a trend lol.

Here's my attempt at creating a Tony paper clay model! I've done what I can to make it look as legit and accurate to his design as possible (I still need to work on rendering it though, maybe I'll redo it to make it as accurate to the actual clay models as possible).

I used the artwork from the Mother 2 Secret Treasure Box Guidebook. Scans of that have been floating around recently, and it seems like a good yet overlooked resource to consider for the game's NPC designs besides sprites considering all the characters did not get clay models (with Tony sadly being one of them). Analysis and design considerations below the cut:

So, here's Tony's 2d artwork from the aforementioned guide:

First of all, Tony is apparently a chonky boy. He is not outright drawn as fat like Porky or Apple Kid, but he still looks rather wide. This whole time everyone drew him with the same build as Jeff when in actuality, he is rather stout in comparison! I assume he is more discretely chubby, like Ness is implied to be.

And then, there is his eyes. He's got pie shaped eyes like Paula and other female characters (which I guess are these sparkly eyes). In fact, as far as I could tell, he's the only male with these kind of eyes. I guess they needed to give Tony some kind of feminine features. Though between the eyes and his proportions, it seems like he's meant to have this childish and innocent look in contrast to Jeff.

Finally, there's the uniform, which is the biggest design discrepancy. It looks like he has no blazer, but looking closely, it looks like they simply forgot to color it in! There's outlines for it, but it looks like he has suspenders at a first glance. With that in mind, it becomes much closer to the sprite, though there's still some differences like the color of the uniform and the shoes.

In spite of that, I still think the guidebook scans are pretty reliable when it comes to the character designs in general, since the characters that do clay models tend to be rather close to the design in the artwork from there (if any thing, it's the sprites that seem to be less accurate).

Auto design tweak yay

Small ramble under cut

First of all... I d8dnt have an actual reference, so the connection isn't exactly, but next time I draw him, I'll fix it properly to look how it's supposed to in my head

I also changed his hat to be the actual wheel because I was too lazy to google the Axiom logo and add a transparent PNG to it ngl.

The lip scar stayed and I don't have a specific reason behind its presence on his design but I think It's a nice subtle way to bring the look of the black plating line that runs down the side of the original wheel, because I hate giving characters huge scars unless they have a lore reason or it makes narrative sense and not to just fear mongering because as a disabled person scars being "scary" makes me Mad as hell.

Additionally, I added knee-high leather boots to balance out the white on the design and added more stripes because the balance of b/w on the wheel is a lot more accurate, and evenly dipersed than I had it.

Auto is seriously underrated in the robot/artificial intelligence-character appreciation community, and I firmly stand by THAT UTILIZE THE WHEEL!!! LOVE THAT WHEEL

Man people complaining that they’re not letting you kill the leviathans in Subnautica 2 have missed the point of the games

This isn’t monster hunter. Subnautica has always been an ecology-focused game and doing your best to speedrun a trophic cascade is not and has never been the point. The point is learning about the natural environment and doing your best to navigate it as a fellow animal who happens to be smart enough to build things.
