The older you get the more you will realize that your friends are people who have made mistakes and bad decisions and even just fucked up and hurt people.

And obviously your boundaries with your friends are completely up to you but you do need to recognize that if you cut off everyone who has done something wrong, you’re going to end up with no friends (and you yourself will have also fucked up in your life, and not lived up to those impossible standards either).

I’ve found it’s much more constructive to learn how to say “hey dude, that was massively fucked up of you,” because most people are really willing to say “yeah, it was, I need to work on it/not do it again/apologize and make things right” ESPECIALLY if they are hearing it from you as their friend.

half of the writers room for gotham (2014-2019) was fully convinced it was a gritty hypermasculine cable cop show and the other half believed they were writing a batman 1966 spiritual successor for the dark cabaret crowd and all of them had conflicting fetishes and every episode was called something like i brought you my bullets you brought me your love and jada pinkett smith had the ghosts of several silver screen divas within her wrestling for control of her performance at all times and they always set aside some time for the penguin serve segment, where robin lord taylor as oswald cobblepot would appear onscreen with his slicked down spiky bangs and cunt it up in ways that the world hadn’t seen since edmund said now gods stand up for bastards in the very first performance of king lear. and nobody involved had ever seen a tv show before so it can’t be judged within those terms.

somehow federal authorities can track down protestors with no criminal background, known to virtually no one, dressed in all black with 98% of their face covered for spray painting a statue based on the fibers of their balaclava and mobilize god and heaven to track down and (falsely) apprehend the (wrongfully alleged) killer of a (scumbag) CEO (rest in piss), but they just can't seem to find a guy who just capped multiple politicians and was known by two Minnesota state governors, traveled around the world as a mercenary and spent a bunch of time preaching about how being gay and trans sucks at a Pentecostal church in the Democratic Republic of Congo. those easy ones can be tricky sometimes i guess.
