really good ed shows and movies!!
To The Bone- 20 year old Ellen goes impatient after her family is worried she will die. It’s very funny, and full of dark humor. This one is very powerful.
Disfigured- an anorexic and a binge eater become friends and look at life
Red Band Society- a character, Emma, has anorexia. The show is discontinued though :(
Little Miss Perfect- The main character develops an ED from the stresses of school and academics.
Feed- After her brother’s death, the main character falls into anorexia. This one is very powerful.
The Karen Carpenter Story- The story of Karen Carpenter.
Best Little Girl in the World- A family deals with their daughter suffering from anorexia.
Skins- Cassie from Skins suffers from anorexia.
Glee- Marley Rose from Glee suffers bulimia after another student manipulates her.
Kate’s Secret- The main character navigates bulimia, inpatient.
Starving in Suburbia- The main character becomes anorexic after finding promotion about it online.
Thin- It’s a documentary about Renfrew and the girls inside.
Dying to Dance- It’s a dance show with anorexic characters.
Dance Academy- Another dance show(really good though) with an anorexic and bulimic character.
Perfect Body- A gymnast suffers with anorexia.
My Skinny Sister- A story about a little sister finding out about her older sisters bulimia.
Spinning Out- It only mentions an anorexic girl, but I still recommend this bc it’s a really good show and has other great portrayals of mental health, like bipolar.
—
Many of these are really powerful, really accurate, and also have good thinspo scenes!! (because, lets be honest, we watch for the thinspo and triggering)

Ok so this post is extremely long and I put it all together for my blogs Feeling sad page but as I don’t have a huge amount of followers I realize so many people are not seeing this information so I’m posting it here too!
alternatives without harming yourself:
holding/squeezing ice.
splashing your face with water.
getting a rubber band and snapping it against your skin (this could hurt, though it’s better than other ways that people usually choose to self-harm).
take a hot shower or bath.
eat something sour. it will take your mind of the urge. (lemon, sour lollies)
massage where you want to self-harm.
get a red pen or red paint and draw/paint over where you usually self-harm.
remind yourself as to why you shouldn’t do it. (scars, harms organs, leave memories etc…)
describe what you are feeling. (is the urge/pain in your chest, fists, legs, arms, head).
killing yourself will not help. it is not a solution.
you have your whole life ahead of you. you have so many more years that you can accomplish things in. for example;
having a family.
getting married.
to watch the sun rise.
to watch the sun set.
to save someone else’s life.
finish school.
get your dream job.
to laugh.
to smile.
to go camping.
travel to new places.
to wake up every morning to the person you love.
friends.
family.
to keep that promise you made.
to accomplish a goal.
to meet your idol.
to listen to new music.
theme parks.
video games.
chocolate.
to be able to look back and say “i made it”.
what you’re going through is temporary.
in case you need to hear this:
you are loved.
you are wanted.
you are needed.
you are beautiful.
you are handsome.
you are important.
you are not alone.
you are okay.
you are strong.
you are worth it.
you are smart.
you are not a failure.
you are useful.
you are going to be okay.

i’ve been seeing more and more posts lately about how it’s sickening that we as a community encourage each other to further spiral downwards.
the truth is that we all know that we can’t stop each other from not eating enough or over-exercising. we know that we can’t shut off the voices in our minds that tell us we’re “too fat” or we’re “eating too much” or “how the hell am i gonna burn that”.
we’re here to comfort each other and let each other know that you’re not crazy, i’m not crazy and we’re all not crazy. we’re here to encourage recovery and repeat the words “be safe” over and over until all of our ed friends start to listen.
you’ll all always be perfect in my mind and i genuinely care for and love you all. be safe and drink water, my lovelies :)))))))

Thinspo Imagine #4: A Day at The Beach
Finally, quarantine is over! You have been working out and eating less for the last few months, and the massive change is obvious. As you change into your new swimsuit, your abs/ribs impress you and your thigh gap is glorious. You wear a top and a cute skirt over your swimsuit. The top shows off your skinny shoulders and prominent collarbones, while your skirt shows off your thigh gap and tiny legs.
Soon, your friends come and pick you up.
“Wow, Y/N! You look amazing! Did you lose weight?” Your best friend asked.
“Yeah, I guess I did.” You reply humbly.
You arrive at the beach. Before stepping foot onto the sand, your friends decide to have a snack. You wouldn’t have allowed yourself to have one before, but now, you have a delicious vanilla iced coffee because even if you exceed your calorie limit, you will be able to burn it off.
As you and your friends step foot onto the warm sand, you notice the looks that everybody else gives you. They are impressed by your gorgeous body. You see their faces. Some of them look at you in awe, while others look at you in jealousy.
You and your friends splash around in the waterYou notice a piece of seaweed get wrapped around your bony ankle. Before you remove it, you notice how it emphasizes the small size of your ankle.
As you spend time with your friends, you realise something - this would not have been possible if you haven’t lost weight.
