“Must be nice.” Chris retained his smile, his eyes still fixed to the comic in his hands. He wasn’t sure if he could look up at the other boy again, not when he was already beginning to feel a heat raising in his face. He wasn’t sure if he was blushing or not, or if the other had been when he last looked at him --- it sure looked like he had been but they had only just met recently. “I’m Chris by the way, probably should have introduced myself first.”
Carl shifts back a little watching the other boy even when he looked away from him. “Yeah the end bit is the best.” He says softly moving to fold his comics over his chest in his arms. “That sucks, my mom and dad always end up buying me some whenever they get the chance.” He chuckles softly, “Pretty sure it’s their weird way of keeping me a kid.”

His smile grew, eyes moving over the other boy’s face before shifting back down towards the comic he had picked out. “Is it? I haven’t been able to read many as of late, my mom isn’t really a fan and prefers if I read actual literature.” Laughing lightly he shook his head. “I don’t think she really gets it?”
Carl was just so happy with how the other boy didn’t make fun of him, and was actually so CAREFUL with his comics. It made his smile bright at the other boy, shifting in closer to watch him sort through the pile. When he finally picked done Carl smiles a bit wider, “That ones really great, one of my favorites.” He says happily. His face slightly flushing but he ignored it.

Protective sentence starters
“I wont let anything happen to you.”
“Get behind me.”
“I would die for you.”
“I’ve got you.”
“I wont let them hurt you.”
“Tell me who hurt you.”
“Who did this to you? I’ll kill them!”
“I’m here for you, always.”
“Sit down, tell me what happened.”
“Take my hand, I got you.”
“C’mere, gimme a hug.”

Casual head canon that Chris would protect anyone in his group if it came to it. He might put up walls and act like he doesn’t care about them but really they ARE his family, especially now that he’s lost his mom. He already feels alone, he doesn’t want to really be alone.

Chris allowed a small, soft smile to adorn his lips as the others passion for his comics came out. “I’ll be careful. I know how important they can be to people.” His fingers moved carefully, hands practically caressing the stack of comics as he looked through them. “This one.” His eyes shifted to meet with blue hues, wanting to be sure his choice was alright; it was actually kind of cute how protective the other boy was. “If you don’t mind?”
Carl nodded and moved to gab his bag so he could open it up and pull out a large stack of comics that he brought with him. There was a little of everyone, “Here.” He shows the other boy the stack, “Just try not to bend them too much.” He says with a worried tone, he didn’t normally let people touch his comics.

Chris considered it for a moment before rolling his shoulders in a small shrug. “I’m not really fussy --- I guess anything with The Flash?” His eyes remained on the other boy for moment before glancing down towards what he assumed was his bag. “Sure, show me.”
Carl still tried to hide behind his comic when the other boy spoke to him. His cheeks flushed a light pink color at how cute he was. After another momnet he lowered his comic and nodded, “I have a few in my book bag, what kind do you like? I can show you what I have.”

The camper was already packed, the others practically forcing him to the back where there was slightly more room to breath. With a sigh he made himself as comfortable as he could, glancing over to the other boy. “----- got any other comics on you?”
OPEN; Verse: Maps and Mysteries:
Carl sat curled up in the back of the camper reading his Batman comics. When the other moves to sit near him he peaks at them over his comic before hiding behind it once more.
