Show Title: “A dance with vibrancy and darkness”
Why?
I chose these artworks because I thought that they would compliment each other. With this curation I wanted to choose some fun works but also ones that carry meaning. As you can see most of the artworks I chose were vibrant and the background has a dark component and I thought that would be very interesting to bring polar opposites together in a curation.
Title: Post-it (Love you XIX), Artist: Sebastien Gaudette
I specifically chose this piece for my curation simply because it is something I say a lot. I also love to add hearts at the ends of what I say, so this artwork just felt so familiar and like something I would do. It has a personal connection to me.
Title: Malibu Sunset Triangle, Artist: Vasa
I chose this sculpture in my art curation because I really loved the incorporation of the pink, blue and purple shades. It also caught my eye because of its use of dimension and through the screen it really felt like it was popping out to me. I also think that it brings out the colors of the other works I chose.
Title: fuckoff (pink), Artist: Indira Cesarine
This is one of my favorite pieces that I chose! I love the fact that it is a neon sign and is bright pink. I feel like it really popped when I put it in my gallery/background. I also think that neon signs aren’t what you would typically think of when you think of the term “art”, I don’t see enough of it represented so I thought that it would be fun to implement.
Title: Solar Eclipse on the Farm, Artist: Parsley Steinweiss
When I was picking out my artworks I thought that this would be a nice edition because it takes some of the blue from the other works and ties it in. I also love that it is on the lighter side compared to some of the other works I chose because I know that really vibrant colors not only can grab your attention but I feel like it can be too much if there isn’t a lighter color to balance it out. On a more personal note, I am really fascinated by the moon and the way it changes, I thought that would be beautiful to implement.
Title: Possession By Metal Demon, Artist: Ji Zou
Last but simply not least is this beautiful piece. I loved the aspect of including something that was pulling color from all the other pieces and even the duvet on the bed from the background that I chose. I also love the way the hand is shaped, it carries this delicacy and softness even though it is quite a bright piece of work. I think that it ties everything together in such a beautiful and majestic way.
