He is very much alive, living a human life (outside of shinigami duties in his hometown) and independent (well, with a wife named Orihime, of course) at Chapter 686 calling oh so ‘precious’ Rukia out on her ‘parenting’ (when tbh Rukia was probably joking around since she said it an overly enthusiastic way).

Like, do people look at a volume and go “Ichigo is dead ‘cus shinigami robes hurr durr”? By your logic, so is Rukia. But that’s character-bashing even if it is fact cause she’s a death god/shinigami!
