i just came across your blog from your amazing art taste. how did you come to get into such classical striking styles? from your love of donna tartt i assume it carried through to other art forms. what are some of your favourite artists or themes (could be visual, musical, literary etc)?
first of all, thank you from the bottom of my heart because this ask really made my day, you’re a sweetheart.
actually, i think if i have to track down a literary origin point for my art taste (even if it’s not entirely true it all originated in that specific way, it’s truer to state i was born with it, i would roam around the louvre or versailles at six and already feel so in awe and in my element, or i would arrive in rome at nine and feel home), but the real turning point of my artistic taste was the art for art’s sake movement, walter pater and oscar wilde. only ten years later i discovered donna tartt, and i had already graduated from my classics high school and in general studied the classics for ten years - yes, donna tartt added a great deal of beauty in my life, but i was already completely part of that world, so to speak.
it’s so difficult to list all the artists, and styles, and in general all the beauty that daily inspires my life, the right answer would be, “everything that strikes me within and that i find beautiful”, and that can be literally anything, but i can try, for art’s sake :)

Can you suggest a DA songs?
Hubris - Sevdaliza, Poems - Hippocampus, Skin - Marika Hackman, Danse Macabre, Sea Swallow Me - Cocteau Twins, VG’s Blues - KYD soundtrack, Rain in Venice - Geoffrey Burgeon, Blood Bitch - Cocteau Twins, Love Club - Lorde, Human - Sevadliza.I’d like to point out that while I think these are pretty dark academia, their lyrics rarely are. Most of them I think fit the audial aesthetic. Sevdaliza I would say is dark academia aesthetic in just about every song. if i were to give you what generally goes as da, I’d say : heavy classical music, fast jazz, Vampire Weekend, Meet Me In the Hallway - Harry Styles, Poems - Hippocampus, Writer in the Dark - Lorde, Greek God - Conan Gray, etc.

The Ethereality Aesthetic
So I see that there's not really a set aethetic for ethereal/etherealcore/ethereality, which is upsetting because it's so beautiful to me, so I thought I should go ahead and make it myself
So what's the jist of it, you ask?
Neutral colors
In love with every season but spring and autumn are everything
Flowy / classy attire
Lace, chiffon, fur
Simplicity with faint traces of glamor
Burning candles
Steaming tea/coffee in beautiful teacups or mugs
Roses
Handwritten letters
Faded photography
Reading/writing in a beautiful setting like a garden, an aesthetic coffee shop, the porch on a rainy day
Watching the sunrise (whereas the norm is to watch the sunset)
Any form of art (especially writing and painting)
Pondering on the deeper matters of life
Pleasant breezes
Nature
Warm smiles and voices that sound like home
Calm music
Gentle and eloquent words
All things heart and soul
Pleasant demeanor
Sheer curtains blowing in the wind
Stone architecture
Big libraries
Elegant old world charm
I'll add more as they come to me!

the hanahaki disease is so fascinating to me because there is no documented origin, there is no myth or legend or anything of that sort from which it was derived, there’s no history behind it. one day some fanfic author said “this is a good concept” and it caught on like wildfire and now it’s been integrated into kpop fanfic culture as a pretty prevalent trope, and it’s spreading to other fandoms as well. how fucking cool is that. how cool is it that fanfic authors are creating beauty on such a high magnitude. it blows me the fuck away.

klancers: have been making long posts explaining exactly what irked them this season, talking about how allurance could’ve worked if it had been written better, rightfully angry over lance’s pathetic epilogue, rightfully angry over the fact that lance was never properly developed, able to acknowledge moments when they actually enjoyed the show, wishing allura was alive, analyzing the moral message we/children are supposed to derive from this show, etc.
everyone else in the fandom: klancers stop whining about your ship not being canon!!! it was never going to happen anyways!!!!
