im shaking every single student organizer and screaming that they need to separate a demand to divest from arms funding from the demand for a university to cut off all contact with Israeli and Israeli-American scholars and students, a demand which no university will agree to because implementing it would in many cases be very illegal

It bothers me how many people are morally incurious, and it bothers me even more how many people seem to think that interrogating morality is proof of immorality- because I'm pretty sure that the latter is at least partly driving the former. Asking why an action or institution is wrong does not necessarily mean that someone thinks that that action or institution is right. If you never ask yourself why something is wrong or right, then what is determining your morality? Because it's not you.

Once in a while I see someone on tumblr saying something like let people be horny you can’t stop people from having sex and I’m like yeah that’s true but it seems weird to be saying that on the horny fandom website let me check your blog and oh yeah you hate asexual people big surprise

I’ve been openly asexual and active in the effort to educate people about asexuality and aromanticism both online and irl since 2012 and buddy the tone of it all has changed over time let me tell you. We used to have fun around here. We used to have hope.

Like yeah there was always The Oppression and The Angst and all the other problems but we used to have fun with it. There used to be a lot more asexual pirates are not here for your booty type memes. We used to have online gatherings where we posted selfies with playing cards. We used to wear black or white rings on the middle finger to signal to each other in public. We used to take just anybody that vibed with the labels. There used to be way more cake jokes.

From where I sit, rumors of a “masc shortage” are greatly exaggerated. Transfemme butches and transmasc lesbians have more language to describe their experiences and are more visible than ever before. Dyke bars are having a renaissance, with more popping up across the country, many of which are making a concerted effort to attract a broad and trans-inclusive clientele. On top of it all, we also have countless queer dating apps at our fingertips; so what does the shortage actually refer to? As I scroll through my For You page, seeing video after video complaining about the shortage, a series of more pointed questions flit through my mind: Is there a masc shortage, or do you not date trans people? Is there a masc shortage, or are you discounting masc people who play with their gender expression? Is there a masc shortage, or do you want only a skinny, androgynous person? Is there a masc shortage, or are the mascs just not into you? Is there a masc shortage, or do you just not see us as masc? [...] Who you want to sleep with and/or date truly isn’t my business. If you have a type that you go for, and that’s a cis masc lesbian, by all means go forth and be happy. But turning one’s exasperation at not being able to find partners that fit such a preference — particularly when said preference doesn’t seem to include transmascs and transfemme butches — into a more generalized missing mascs phenomenon makes it my business. What’s more, the discussion around a “masc shortage” is objectifying, positioning masc people as objects of supply and demand, rather than as people to be in relationship and community with.

One of the pitfalls I've been struggling with over the last three years while focusing on recovering from ADHD burnout is trying to find stimuli that are enriching and not just distracting because distracting stimuli might feel like it's keeping me from being bored, but really it's just keeping me numb enough so I don't have to process being bored or any of my emotions.

And that's not great when you're trying to heal trauma.

The problem is, I'm not finding a lot of things enriching at the moment. A lot of the things I've been relying on to keep my brain quiet since 2020 now feel overstimulating and are actively making me agitated rather than numb. Which I suppose is progress? It means I'm processing things and actually aware of them again instead of perceiving everything as background static.

It's just an odd predicament to be in. I don't think I've been this 'aware' of my own brain in a long time and on the one hand, cool. Great. Probably a good thing. On the other, aaaaah. Why is it so noisy in here?
