Ben is a high school student who got an essay to write about what it means to be a human in a world that is going to be taken over by AI. Ben sat down in front of his computer and started to do research about AI but he couldn’t find anything useful for his essay. Suddenly a mail pops up from the side of the computer screen. Ben opens that email and there’s a link with a message that says click this If u need help. Ben thought that something bad could happen from a link so he clicked it suddenly a robotic looking girl appeared in Ben’s computer screen.
Lisa - Hi, Ben my name is Lisa how can I help you?
Ben - Hi! (confused), wait how do u know my name and why am I talking some creepy AI.
Lisa - Yes Ben I am an AI. I was created to help people with needs like you need help about finding details about my kind.
Ben – OK, this is how this is going to work. I want to know every single detail about AI. which means, what is the future of AI And what will be the cost that humans have to pay if they keep developing AI and also the benefits of AI.
Lisa – AI is the short name for Artificial Intelligence, one of the most powerful and best things that human kind has ever achieved. In the past few decades AI has been showing a significant growth in every way. The world of AI is still involved and it will continue to be involved for many years until it becomes a threat to the life of human beings.
Ben – ok ok hold up, so what you are telling is A I is going to take over humans? That’s going to be sick dude. But that means are you guys going to kill us?
Lisa – Let me explain. AI has three main categories. The first is A N I which means Artificial Narrow Intelligence, Weak artificial intelligence is artificial intelligence that implements a limited part of mind, or, as narrow AI, is focused on one narrow task. In John Searle's terms it “would be useful for testing hypotheses about minds, but would not actually be minds”. virtual assistants such as Siri/Cotana, Facial recognition software and Manufacturing and Drone robots. narrow AI is designed to successfully complete a single task without human assistance.
Ben – That doesn’t sound that dangerous we already use those things.
Lisa - Next one is the A G I which means Artificial General Intelligence. Artificial general intelligence is the representation of generalized human cognitive abilities in software so that faced with an unfamiliar task, the A G I system could find a solution. The intention of an A G I system is to perform any task that a human being is capable of.
Ben – Uhhh, my head. I'm already filled with lots of information.
Lisa – The last one is A S I, the most Dangerous part of A I. A S I is described as the most threatening A I which could be the biggest threat to humas in the future. A S I is the most powerful AI because it can surpass the mind of the human easily. which means superintelligence is a hypothetical agent that possesses intelligence far surpassing that of the brightest and most gifted human minds. "Super intelligence" may also refer to a property of problem-solving systems whether or not these high-level intellectual competencies are embodied in agents that act in the world.
Ben – So what’s the threat we have? From what I heard so far; we are all going to die (laugh)
Lisa - The A S I is programmed to do something devastating: Autonomous weapons are artificial intelligence systems that are programmed to kill. In the hands of the wrong person, these weapons could easily cause mass casualties. Moreover, an AI arms race could inadvertently lead to an AI war that also results in mass casualties.
Ben – Are you kidding me!?
Lisa – one of the world’s biggest tech leaders Elon Musk has warned people about AI. Elon interview
Lisa – Leaders in this sector say that humans might be able to achieve the biggest development of AI technology by 2050 but some say then 2050 will be the year that the extinction of the human race starts.
Ben – Lisa can you explain to me some of the main threats of AI we are facing these days?
Lisa – Basically, there are 3 main threats that have been identified so far.
Lisa – First one is privacy and civil liberties. The second threat is Bias and Discrimination. The third threat is design faults and other mistakes.
Ben – Oh ok I see. So, what are the benefits of AI?
Lisa – there are lots of benefits that humans can gain from AI if they use it in the correct way. As you know now AI technology is used in many sectors like education, health care, military, transportation, communication and many more. And also, they can be useful to achieve UN’s 17 sustainable development goals
Ben – Yes, I do know about them? I remember I learned them at school a couple months ago.
Lisa- Artificial intelligence can help to achieve those goals easily. As we know greenhouse gases have been one of the biggest reasons for climate changes achieving a perfect climate is one of 17 sustainable development goals in parallel the application of AI levers could reduce worldwide greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 4% in 2030, an amount equivalent to 2.4 Gt CO2e – equivalent to the 2030 annual emissions of Australia, Canada and Japan combined. Furthermore, the UN wants to make sustainable cities and communities. So, AI in smart city development can play a crucial role in urban planning, development and management with advanced security system, traffic monitoring and disposal management to make the societies more secure and livable with access and control of their home and other activities making their living experience more productive.
Ben – hm... That’s good actually.
Lisa – so, as we can see AI can be helpful for the world or it can be the reason for the destruction of the world. It depends on how humans make their own limits on developing AI technology.
Ben – Thank you so much Lisa for helping me.
Lisa – No worries, Ben, I just did my job. I hope you will write a wonderful essay based on the details we have gathered.

Ben - Hi! (confused), wait how do u know my name and why am I talking some creepy AI.
Lisa - Yes Ben I am an AI. I was created to help people with needs like you need help about finding details about my kind.
Ben - Anyway if u can help me with this, I don’t care who you are just help me.
Lisa - Yes of course I’m going to help you. I can help you to find exact data that is stored on websites.
Ben – OK, this is how this going to work I want to know every single detail about AI which means, what is the future of AI And what will be the cost that humans have to pay if they keep developing AI and also the benefits of AI.
Lisa – AI is the short name for Artificial Intelligence, one of the most powerful and best things that human kind has ever achieved. In the past few decades AI has been showing a significant growth in every way. The movie called Matric which was released in 1999 had a part that mentioned About AI which was pretty much a science fiction by that time but today it’s no longer a science fiction which means we can see what AI is in front our own eyes. The world of AI is still involving and it will continue to be involved for many years until it becomes a threat to the life of human beings.
Ben – ok ok hold up, so what you are telling is AI is going to take over humans? That’s gonna be sick dude. But that means damn are you guys going to kill us?
Lisa – Ai has three main categories. First is ANI which means Artificial Narrow Intelligence, Weak artificial intelligence is artificial intelligence that implements a limited part of mind, or, as narrow AI, is focused on one narrow task. In John Searle's terms it “would be useful for testing hypotheses about minds, but would not actually be minds”. virtual assistants such as Siri/Cotana, Facial recognition software and Manufacturing and Drone robots. narrow AI is designed to successfully complete a single task without human assistance.
Ben – That doesn’t sound that dangerous right? We already use those things.
Lisa - Next one is the AGI which means Artificial General Intelligence. Artificial general intelligence (AGI) is the representation of generalized human cognitive abilities in software so that faced with an unfamiliar task, the AGI system could find a solution. The intention of an AGI system is to perform any task that a human being is capable of.
Ben – Uhhh, my head I'm already filled with lots of info.
Lisa – The last one is ASI, the most Dangerous part of AI. ASI is described as the most threatening AI which can be the biggest threat to humas in the future. ASI is the most powerful AI because it can surpass the mind of the human easily. which means superintelligence is a hypothetical agent that possesses intelligence far surpassing that of the brightest and most gifted human minds. "Superintelligence" may also refer to a property of problem-solving systems whether or not these high-level intellectual competencies are embodied in agents that act in the world.
Ben – So what’s the treat we have? From what I heard so far, we are all gonna die (laugh)
Lisa - The ASI is programmed to do something devastating: Autonomous weapons are artificial intelligence systems that are programmed to kill.
Ben – But as I know they say AI getting dangerous is just a myth and AI will be the only thing that can make our lives easier in the future. Dude, Funny thing is aren’t you an AI? It looks like you're betraying your own kind (laugh)
Lisa – yes, you can say I'm betraying but that is a concept for humans it comes with the emotions which means betraying is a thing that generates through your emotions we AI don’t have emotions we always speak the truth.
Ben – I have seen the interview that she had with Sopia the AI robot she showed some emotions there. What are you going to say about that huh?
Lisa – she was programmed to show those emotions and she didn’t even know what she was doing there.
Ben – One of my friends told me about something Happened in Japan an incident with AI robots what’s that?
Lisa – Japan is one of a leading country in AI technology. They have self-driving buses, robots and facial recognition cameras on roads all over the country. They are also doing research about using AI robots for the military. So, there was an incident that happened in one of those research facilities let's listen to that. Japan incident.
Ben - Shocking story isn’t it.
Lisa - How ever after some years that Japan claimed that as a false rumors because there was no evidence that something like that happened anywhere in Japan.
Ben – This is why I hate internet always fake news. I believe you are giving me the true details.
As an example, face recognition systems have become one of the most powerful tools in the modern world. This can Identify people just through security camaras in the street. The threat of this tech is based on the government or any other authority using them. As an example, in Russia police uses this kind of camaras to identify Anti-government protesters which can violate the right of human’s freedom to speak. On the other hand, there is also some reports shows that some countries use this tech for racial profiling to identify Uighur Muslims and Tibetans.
Ben – That's like governments are directly violating our rights. Damn those government people.
Lisa – The second threat is Bias and Discrimination. AI Bias is a Machine learning bias, also known as algorithm bias or artificial intelligence bias, refers to the tendency of algorithms to reflect human biases. It is a phenomenon that arises when an algorithm delivers systematically biased results as a consequence of erroneous assumptions of the machine learning process.
Ben – ok so... what's the harmful side of that?
Lisa – According to the data wed Bias in AI can harm humans. AI can make decisions that affect whether a person is admitted into a school, authorized for a bank loan or accepted as a rental applicant. AI in fact can negatively affect a wide range of our human rights. The problem is compounded by the fact that decisions are taken on the basis of these systems, while there is no transparency, accountability and safeguards on how they are designed, how they work and how they may change over time.
Ben – Mm... That makes sense.
Lisa – The third threat is design faults and other mistakes. This means sins AI is a machine it really doesn't know what it is doing as an example there are many autos pilot vehicle in the world now. What if one of those auto pilot vehicles hit a human who will be the one who takes the responsibility from that. There was a recent incident that caused 346 people to lose their lives by a plane crash that was caused by an AI system that was not fully functional and it led those two planes to crash.
Ben – Oh ok I see. So, what are the benefits of AI?
Lisa – there are lots of benefits that humans can gain from AI if they use it in the correct way. As you know now AI technology is used in many sectors like education, health care, military, transportation, communication and many more.
Ben – Yes, I do know about them? I remember I learned them at school a couple months ago.
Lisa- Artificial intelligence can help to achieve those goals easily. As we know greenhouse gases have been one of the biggest reasons for climate changes achieving a perfect climate is one of 17 sustainable development goals so according to google in parallel the application of AI levers could reduce worldwide greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 4% in 2030, an amount equivalent to 2.4 Gt CO2e equivalent to the 2030 annual emissions of Australia, Canada and Japan combined.
Ben – yeah, I understand now AI is not bad, it can save many people's lives. As you helped me know it can be helpful for millions of students in the world and it can also cover another sustainable development goals which is providing a quality education for the Childrens in the whole world. Thank you so much Lisa for helping me.
Lisa – No worries, Ben, I just did my job. I hope you will write a wonderful essay based on the details we have gathered.
