Can u introduce yourself to us?
HI, my name is Janith Sanjula Weerasekara and I’m a User Interface Designer for 10 years now.
Why did you become a UI designer and what is your goal?
I have always been into designing since I was a kid and I always wanted to create new things that can help people to make their day-to-day work easy. My goal is to stay in the industry and keep designing new things.
Are there any User interfaces u personally like?
There are some I personally prefer like Facebook, Tumblr and Uber app. They have some interesting designs that can make people attracted to them.
What can u say about how user interface has been involved through the last decade?
There was a significant development in user interface design which happened with the improvement of technology.
What do u think that can make a good UI design?
The most important thing is the UI has to be user friendly otherwise if the user is not satisfied with what he uses that’s not going to work well.
Can you explain to us what u meant by user friendly?
It means when users use the UI it needs to fulfil users’ task otherwise there no point in using it and another thing is it has to be eye pleasing because people always prefer to see beautiful and interesting things.
What will happen to UI design in future?
As we can see UI design is a fast-developing thing that can invent many more interesting things in the future. I personally want to see a user interface that can be attached to over body like in sci fi movies.

Case study Uber app
Transportaion has become a main profession of most of the people which some people work as full-time drivers while most of the people work as part time taxi driver or food delivery drivers. In the past few years people started to do their driving jobs through apps. UBER is one of the most famous apps which gained popularity recently. UBER app is basically an app that helps people to find taxis. In this research we are going to talk about the UI design of the uber app.
Mainly the UBER user interface has some unique things which are,
Better graphics
uber app provides the users with a visual that can be easily understood and the images make it easier. the other thing is uber designers knew that visual images are easier to understand than typography, so they have used illustrations to make the app cooler and understandable for the users.
Simple icons to explain the context
uber designers have used icons rather than using text for everything because it makes user to understand the context faster than reading the text so users can do their work way easier and faster than ever.
The built of the app
when people using smart phone mostly, they only use a one hand to do them things with the phones that what all about using a smart phone so that’s why the one-handed concept came out the special thing about uber app is the app is designed for one handed use which makes users to do their things while they traveling or do whatever thing.
Uber has so many options that users can choose which best one first and two other choices next on the primary screen this helps the user to choose the best option available for them. The problem with this is giving too many options can confuse the user to choose what they really need, however uber has handled it very well by the app shows best 3 options on the primary screen and if the user is not satisfied with them then they can scroll down for others options.
Those are the key features of uber user interface provides to the users, however when it comes to the motion designs of the UBER app, they have used some modern and very understandable and also very interesting motion designs such as their map design loading designs and also the animated icons.

History of Development
in the modern world the computer has become an essential thing which people can’t live without. Through hundreds of years the technology has been moving forward with adding new things to our lives this all happens with the development of one main thing which called interface. Interface is all about how people express their thoughts through something like a sign. At the beginning primitive people used signs to express their thoughts as an example drawing of people, animals and rocks. However, with the time those signs became exceptional arts, writings and Documentations. Ater the industrial revolution people started to use machines as an example type writers also known as hardware's. However, in the early 60s people started to create software because of the improvement of technology. Therefore, those software's needed user interferes to make things easier for the user. In 1981 IBM introduced the first personal computer which came with MS- DOS operating system which was created by Microsoft. After 3 years in 1084, Graphical use interface became more popular because the apple company introduced their computer which called the Macintosh. At first, because of the primitivity of technology knowledge the use interferes was too complicated which cause for unnecessary expenses because those interferes were designed to get the maximum output. However, with the invention of graphical user interface this started to change because GUI can give the output withing seconds instead of waiting for days. After the 2000s, when smart phones started to gain popularity interface designers do more detailing on the interface which their aim was to make the interface more realistic. So, they started to work on reflection, shadows and gradients. As an example, they made the iBook flip like a book. After years the users became board of the interface so the designers started to think of a new design to make the user interface more interesting. As a result, in 2002, the idea of Flat Design came out which was simple and clean. There were no textures, shadows or reflection surfaces. Today the flat design has become the main design steam of the UI design which we can see everywhere in websites apps etc. In design worlds designs come and go they not stable which now the flat design is the main design stream every UI designer using but few decades in future it can be change into another design. Furthermore, we can see more UI trends are being born by the hands of designers. Here are some of the UI trends which we’ll be able to see now, • Voice User Interface this is a system that allows user to use the interface through voice commands. There are some popular voice commanding systems such as Alexa, Siri, Cotana etc. • Augmented Reality AR experience is a thing that design interacts with the digital world and the physical world which allows user to feel they are interacting with the real world. There are some apps that use this AR system. Like, Google Translate and Pokémon GO There are also some UI trends that designers predict that we will be able to see in future which are, • Wearable user interface which means we can wear the devices as an accessory, designers also tell that those devices might be attached to our skin which we can use them by touching our skin. • Next one is the Holographic user interface. Mostly we can see these kinds of devices in movies. Holographic is a thing that projectiles images through a light that creates a three-dimensional image
