Dynamics in domestic cats

since i'm putting the omegaverse tags on this i want to explain what misceanimalis is. misceanimalis is identifying as a dynamic(s) (or just as misce in general), or incorporating dynamics into your lifestyle for whatever reason. for some, it's part of their idetity similar to gender (for me, being an omega is defininely a big part of who i am, just like being a boy). for some, it's a lifestyle choice, for some, it's a kink. for some, it's a combination of things or something else entirely. we are real people, please don't assume things about someone because of their dynamic and things you've read in fanfiction about them. Omegas are not all submissive, nor do we all have "submissive instincts" nor are we weak. the B in beta does not stand for boring. alphas are not all territorial assholes with no self control, nor are they all dominant. anyway now thats out of the way! what do dynamics look like in domestic cats? as a miscefelis, here how i think it might look. generally, their dynamic comes in from 4-8 months. de-sexing prevents this, making their scent puplike forever. (although just like real life there are hormone-sparing sterilisations, but they are not well known and uncommonly used) Beta cats: smaller than the other dynamics, they find nooks and crannies to sleep in and hide favourite items. in a housecat this would look like sleeping in drawers, under beds and couches and dragging their toys to places hard for their human family to reach. Omega cats: they make up 50% of cats and are known for having very fluffy bellies that serve the purpose of protecting their babies during pregnancy. they appear bigger than alphas even though they're the same size due to the extra fur and fat. feral/wild omega cats and housecats have very different nesting patterns, wild omegas often band together and raise kittens communally, making nests in large enclosed spaces. housecats nest in their favourite human's room, which is usually an omega. Alpha cats: very strong scents, they tend to have large territories with multiple omegas and betas inside. female alphas who get pregnant will raise kittens alone instead of with other cats like omegas do, but will let the kittens stay around during adulthood. alphas make dens by digging beneath trees, and grow larger paws than the other dynamics. alpha cats when kept inside scent mark everything to make up for the lack of large territory, and are hostile to visitors from outside their human's pack.

relationships in my misce don't work in the traditional courting/dating whatever way. heres how it works if u find someone in the wild/are friends/know them irl step 1- confession. usually accompanied by gifts. it's rude to accept the gifts while rejecting the confession. step 2- you are something between friend and lover for a while. you hang out a lot, give each other gifts some skip this phase if they already have a strong bond. (no strictly defined courting practices, most gifts are things you found on the ground) step 3- mates! this means something different to everyone. the most common is a triad that is both romantic and sexual in nature made up of an omega, beta and alpha, but mates can be any kind of bond that isn't familial. optional extra steps 4a- marriage. each person in the relationship gets given jewelry by the other members, they are very personalised. (someone who likes to wear necklaces gets given a hardy one with a clock engraved with a devotion, someone who is constantly moving and doing tricks is given an anklet so it does't get in their way) 4b- shared nest/den. before then the mates would likely have stayed in each others before. this is common but not expected, as each nest is highly personal so a shared nest requires a lot of cooperation and compromise.

Guide to heats (early signs, types of heats, how to deal with it)

contents: non-sexual heats sexual heats submissive heats dominant heats sick heats Note: these are based mostly on my and my system's experiences, though i have looked through the misce tags to see other people's experiences. you may not have all of the signs or experiences here, and thats okay. everybody is unique.

All heats: (won't reiterate these later on) Pre-heat/early signs: -more clingy, affectionate. want to spend more time than usual with loved ones/pack. (may have opposite behavior and want to stay away from others, feeling vulnerable.) -nesting/denning habits more apparent. adding more material. -more protective and possessive over your things -slightly higher body temp -Heightened instinctual desires and emotions -unexplainable random sadness (closer to heat for me) full heat: -want to spend most of the time in nest and/or den -Noticeably higher body temp than usual -muddled thoughts at times -instinct as noticeable as when in fight/flight timeline: -different for everyone. some can keep a schedule and it arrives on time, some get them sporadically or very frequently, some have long heats, some have heats that last a day. -my cycle is long pre-heat, short heat, medium-length break. (long as in a week and a half. then heat is abt 3-4 days with a week break) how to deal with: -keep water near at all times and snacks if hard to leave nest -if you have to go to work/school wear comfy clothes -air con and/or fan non-sexual heat: pre-heat: -more hungry than usual -desire to bring loved ones into nest/den and keep them there -may not experience raised body temp until full heat. may be lower than normal in fact heat: -nest makes up half of your thoughts sexual heats: pre-heat: -raised arousal (may also have raised libido) -raised body temp -lower inhibitions -slick heat: -constantly horny -weed-like effect how to deal with: -clothes that don't stain easy and are easy to take off -if you need to go to work/school make sure u can contain urself. if not, don't go. submissive heats: pre-heat: -asking for guidance/tasks more than usual -less need for control/independence -want to be taken care of heat: -hard to take care of self -hard to disobey people you trust how to deal with: -be aware of your vulnerability to being taken advantage of -ask someone you trust for help -don't go to work/school if strong heat dominant heats: pre-heat: -when helping people you are more hands on and controlling -very defensive of space -snap at small things -more moody when told what to do heat: -desire to take control over someone else -more aggressive, destructive how to deal with: -remind yourself other people aren't trying to piss you off -vent your frustration on objects, not other beings sick heats: triggered by illness, doesn't follow typical pre-heat and full heat patterns signs that you are in heat while sick: -nest/den becomes more cocoon-like -temperature fluctuates -more dehydration -sickness's symptoms different than usual in some ways how to deal with: -keep stuff for sickness near your nest/den -keep space aerated (open windows and doors often)

i call it dominant heat, i get it when co-fronting with an alpha when i'm in heat and they're in rut. (my other heats are neutral in nature) and sometimes on it's own. same stuff for regular heats but grab some paper to rip apart and/or something to bite for the destructive tendencies

first of all, not a roleplay thing. it can be an identity and/or a lifestyle and/or a kink for me, it's definitely an identity thing. i'm an omega. i get heats, i nest, i have intense instincts and all that- a lot of my heatmates are misce too. idk most of the new dynamics either but i think it's like how there's more genders than the basic boy/girl/non-binary, there's more dynamics than alpha/beta/omega. dynamic for us is like a secondary gender

I feel most comfortable posting this question on this blog but....... could someone explain the misceverse stuff to me? Like, I sort of understand A/B/O, I was around back when those first got really popular in fandom, but I have been away or of the loop since then so I have no idea what all this new stuff means. The new dynamics and shit.

Also, is it a roleplay thing? Kind of like furries (if I even understand that correctly)? If not, how do you know if you experience, like, ruts or heats or whatever? How do you know what dynamic you fall into?

we made our own perfume! 20% fragrance from little bottles similar to essential oils chosen mostly by my headmate (should do less next time, our mum has a powerful nose and it makes her sick) 80% various carrier oils from the kitchen. any will do but you should look it up to see what's best avaliable to you.

Any misce friends who like scenting, I recommend pheremone perfumes highly!

Anytime I've worn one of my signatures, I get tons of compliments and people can apparently smell after, or tell I've been in a room because of my perfume

Some application tips to help your scent last longer + bonus section of my own scent recommendations at the end:

Before applying any scent, make sure your skin is clean + moisturized, and if applying oil perfume make sure it's dry

Add vaseline (or any brand petroleum jelly) on your pulse points (wrist, neck, inside of elbows, behind the knees) and rub in till fully absorbed in your skin

If oil perfume: dab on each inside of your wrist and rub them against each other, and any leftover can be rubbed into other pulse points and VERY LIGHTLY unto clothes (oil perfume can stain certain fabrics)

If Alcohol based perfume: spray unto neck while looking up, and while skin is still wet, rub wrist on your neck, or spray inner wrist to then rub on other pulse points. If you want an extra boost, you can also spray on your body

- I prefer oil perfumes, so most of these shops will either heavily feature or exclusively only sell oil based perfumes. You're free to scent how you please!! These are just what works for me
