Don't you think it's really lucky that all the Marauders' Animagus forms just happened to be great for helping Remus? Imagine if James turned into a monkey or a dolphin or a beaver or something. Three years for nothing.
I have though about this extensively. EXTENSIVELY. I have wondered if animagi can only turn into animals that they are familiar with, or are animals native to the regions where they live. Imagine living in the UK and turning into a hippo or something. How could that ever be helpful?
For people who are wondering, this is a way that Remus Lupin’s life could’ve been EVEN SHITTIER than it was.
“I can’t believe you guys did this for me! You could’ve mentioned it!”
“Nah Moony, we wanted it to be a surprise,” Sirius said with a smile.
“Yeah, we can be mysterious too,” James grinned.
“I can’t wait to see what we transform into,” Peter chimed in excitedly.
Remus stood in anticipation as he watched his friends begin to work the complex animagus transformation. His eyes wide, his mouth open, he soon found himself standing in a room with a somewhat agitated elephant, a snapping lobster, and a really f*cking pissed off shark.
“Well….shit,” Remus muttered.
And thus was born Moony, Stampy, Pinchy, and Jaws.

We might have misunderstood Hogwarts Houses for years
I have a theory that the valued quality of each of the four Houses isn’t really about the personality of its students.
The valued quality of each of the four Houses has to do with how they perceive magic.
Stick with me a second: Hogwarts is a school to study magic. Magic as Hogwarts teaches it can be seen as many things: a natural talent, a gift, a weapon, etc.
So how you believe magic should be used will both reflect your personality and change how you handle that power.
“Their daring, nerve, and chivalry set Gryffindors apart,” Gryffindors perceive magic as a weapon. Gryffindors tend to excel in aggressive forms of magic, like offensive and defensive spells, and they are good at dueling. But a true Gryffindor knows that the power is a responsibility, and so they must always use their powers to stand up for what’s right. They are the sword of the righteous, which makes them as good at Defense Against the Dark Arts as they are at combat magic.
Hufflepuffs believe that magic is a gift and that the best gifts are to be given away. Hufflepuffs, “loyal and just,” would naturally abhor the idea of jealously guarding magic or using it to hurt someone else. So Hufflepuffs share their magic to benefit of Muggles, like the Fat Friar, to protect the overlooked, like Newt Scamander with his creatures, or to oppose those who would use magic to torment and bully, like the Hufflepuffs who stood with the DA and the battle of Hogwarts.
Slytherins are the opposite: they believe their magic is a treasure that they have been entrusted to protect. The Slytherin fascination with purity, with advantage, with cunning and secrecy–all of which were perverted by the Death Eaters–comes from the idea that people with magic in their veins have been given something special that it is their duty to protect at all costs. And perhaps they aren’t entirely wrong: power in the wrong hands can be dangerous. And power interfering at will with Muggle affairs is a gross presumption that could turn the course of history. Though the series shows some of the worst that Slytherin can be, “evil,” is not a natural Slytherin tendency. “Cautious,” is.
Ravenclaws believe that magic is an art form, one that is beautiful and should be appreciated and studied for its own sake. If “wit beyond measure is man’s greatest treasure,” then asking what magic is for is useless. It’s more important to immerse oneself in magic for its own sake. Ravenclaws push the boundaries of magic to see if they can, hence Hermione’s spell experiment on the DA coins being dubbed a Ravenclaw quality, but like Luna Lovegood in the pursuit of extraordinary creatures: they can also be content to plumb the depths of what already exists.
So while you can see where personalities will overlap over Houses, perhaps in Sorting we should be asking ourselves less what we think we are and more what we think we believe.

sirius black was thirteen when minerva mcgonagall saw the quill he was writing with jerk across the paper and the way his hand curled into a fist for a moment when she called for ‘mr. black’ to answer a question on transfiguring large animals. she stopped calling him mr. black after that, and ignored questions from other students about why she called him by his first name unlike everyone else.
sirius was seventeen when minerva forgot he and james weren’t really related and called sirius ‘mr. potter’ during a detention he’d been given. he smiled at her and pretended he didn’t have tears in her eyes, and told her he was much too attractive to be james’ twin, but didn’t ever correct her. she did it again later, on purpose this time, and noticed how pleased he looked. she called him by it more often after that, and every time she did he seemed to light up.
he was thirty-three when she saw him for the first time in over a decade, and it was the first time she thought he resembled his lineage. his eyes were hollow and empty, and she couldn’t reconcile him with the boy she knew years before. he went back to being ‘mr. black,’ and he no longer had the energy to flinch away from the name.

There’s a difference between being misunderstood and being misguided. Draco and his Slytherin friends are misinformed and misguided by their parents, they are not misunderstood. They were awful, they did horrible things, they weren’t secretly non-bigoted underneath. They can learn from their mistakes and grow up to be better people, that still doesn’t mean their past actions are excusable or that Harry was prejudiced to dislike them. They earned his dislike, they can earn his/others forgiveness too.

Minerva Mcgongall pulled out her notebook and turned to the page that listed the names and details of that years Gryffindor Quidditch team. Her heart swelling with pride she jotted down the name “Harry Potter” next to the position “Seeker” before closing the book and opening a second drawer. She took out a small, wooden box and rummaged in it for a few seconds before withdrawing a worn out envelope, inside of which was a short letter and a photograph.
“Dearest Minnie,
Hope you’re doing well! I’m the same of course, driving Lily up the wall as usual, she sends you her love by the way!
Now I know I told you that you’ll never find a chaser as good as me ever again, but it just goes to show that even the brilliant are sometimes mistaken. I’ve found you (made you!) a replacement who will one day outshine his old man by leagues! Enclosed is a photograph of your new Quidditch prodigy so that you may assess his skills for yourself. We have him chasing the cat for practice. He’ll be unbeatable by the time he starts at Hogwarts! The youngest Quidditch player in a century!
I guarantee it, Minnie. And you know I’m never wrong, though you’ll never admit it!
Missing you and Hogwarts terribly,
Lots of love,
James
P.S. Sirius says his marriage proposal still stands.”
Wiping away a single tear that ran down her cheek and chuckling to herself, she smiled down at the photograph of a small, gleeful, black haired boy zooming along in a toy broom, a pair of legs chasing after him and a young woman laughing hysterically in a corner.
“Right again, Mr. Potter.”

Consider:
Instead of using that creepy ass quote Professor Sneep says about his obsession with his dead ex-friend as The Harry Potter Quote why don’t we use the one James Potter says to his son, whom he gave his life for, to comfort him as he walks to his death
“‘You’ll stay with me?’ ‘Until the very end,’ said James.”
Just a thought
