I know a lot of the folks who follow me here are white. I know that statistically, white people are more likely to listen to other white people as voices of authority when it comes to race â especially if they do not know where to begin when it comes to anti-racist practices.
So, I'm gonna be brutally honest with you other white folks â You have to care about Black men. You have to care about Brown men. You have to care about Native and Indigenous men. You have to care about Asian men and that means all Asian men, not just East Asian men.
If you are white it is imperative to EVERY kind of anti-racist belief and action that you vocally care about men who are not white.
Lift up, support, and platform the voices of non-white women who are discussing misogyny in their communities, BUT â this is also imperative to remember â those conversations are not for you to add your voice to. Especially if you don't engage with non-white people, communities, or culture in literally any other context. It's straight up just not your space and that's okay. Sit with that. Please.

always make sure to start forging parents' signatures on the first day of class. that way, your teachers won't know that you've been forging signatures for the rest of the year

Yeah I saw the lovecraftian horrors and didnât succumb to madness. What- no Iâm not a cultist, James. For Christâs sake. What youâre forgetting my friend is that HP Lovecraft wasnât a flexible man. His brain simply wasnât stretchy enough to take it all in. I however, have short term memory issues. Flexibility is the name of the game when you canât remember if you ate lunch or not. Whatâs the size of the universe? Big. You knew that already, James. Come on now. You donât need to witness the terrifying ocean at the base of the entirety of reality itself to know that. Pass the brandy.

The age of eligibility for an ABLE account, allowing USAmerican disabled people to save up money without losing their government assistance for having âtoo much,â is going to go up to cover disabilities diagnosed by age 46 (currently itâs age 26), meaning a much larger number of people will be able to access them. As the article notes, many Americans donât know these accounts exist, let alone whether they or someone they care for could qualify for one, so please share this information around.
It seems to me it would obviously be better if the âno more than $2000 a monthâ limit were simply removed and disabled people could have whatever savings accounts they chose, but this is heaps better than nothing.

like, okay, consent does literally just mean agree. which is what enables this little rhetorical trick. because there's all this cultural emphasis on sexual consent, which is just expressed as consent, a lot of phrases whose intended meanings are "rape is bad" can be taken literally to mean "i should get to agree to everything that happens in my vicinity."

tire pressure light came on while i was driving home last night, which is bullshit bc i topped them off pretty recently (came on a week ago bc of the cold) and they're still perfectly taut.
turns out when the light comes on and blinks a bunch before settling it indicates a problem with the sensor. learned this from google and had a shounen anime-style flashback ("when did--no, it can't be--!") to when i went over a particularly unpleasant manhole cover fifteen minutes earlier and Felt It.
then had another flashback, but distinctly more faded out and echoe-y, like from a multi-season mystery series where they remind you of some seemingly trivial detail from the first episode, of That One Relevant Tumblr Post, You Know The One
anyway the next morning i deliberately hit a small patch of uneven road on the way to work and voilĂ . no more light.

Culturally Christian atheists will be like "I think Jesus was a great guy and I actually follow his teachings unlike Christians" without realizing that that is the basis at least 17 different schisms in Christianity

There's a common issue in fandom when people take the words and ideas of the villains as 100% canonical truth even though the narrative clearly shows those villains as wrong and incorrect.

for no reason whatsoever hereâs a reminder that if you consider yourself a leftist/punk/abolitionist/anarchist/radical in any sort of way and get called into jury duty, you are to become the most square person on earth during the jury questionnaire!!!
donât be that guy who says fuck the police in the jury questionnaire! that just gets you sent home! if you want to generate change, interact with the case and use your jury vote for good! ESPECIALLY if itâs a high profile case!

I love that Lil Nas X loves to honor the gender-defying Black men who came before him. He's done Jimi Hendrix, now he's doing Prince! I can't wait for Montero to drop!

I'm not familiar with American geography, so the little thin threadlike patches of lands dividing the three lakes, are those accessible? Can people go across the lakes via those barely visible land bridges?
these?
those aren't land bridges, they're bridge bridges!
the southern one is the Mackinac Bridge, which is the longest suspension bridge in the western hemisphere.
it's fucking ENORMOUS. it's about 5 miles long and the deck is 200 feet over the water. the bridge towers are 550 feet tall.
it honestly breaks your brain a bit to look at it, but if you want to cross from Lower to Upper Michigan or vice versa, it's your only choice.
and the northern circle is the Sault Ste. Marie International Bridge, which is just fine.
(it's pronounced "SOO saint marie")
it takes you to Canada from Upper Michigan if you want to go, so there's Customs at the end. bring your passport, and also your dog's passport.
and that's how we get around up here! if you need to go somewhere in the Great Lakes area and there's one of these big watery fucks in the way, you either take one of these bridges, hop onto a car or passenger ferry, or drive the long way round.

I hate how often some (typically abled) people will go âwell, if you canât [get a specific support], then what?â when it comes to disabilities. As if itâs a âgotchaâ moment. And then act like youâre exaggerating when you answer that question honestly.
Disabled people often die from a lack of support. A lot of disability aids are not a luxury, but a basic need in order to live.
âWell what happens ifââ people die. People hurt themselves. People hurt others. Disabled people donât magically become abled if our needs arenât met.
If a bedbound quadriplegic is caught in a housefire, and thereâs nobody there to save them, theyâll probably die. They wonât magically become able-bodied out of sheer will.
If a nonspeaking/nonverbal autistic is denied access to alternative methods of communication, theyâll suffer in silence. They wonât spontaneously become capable of speech.
Disabled people are disabled all the time. Our disabilities donât go away just because theyâre inconvenient, or if weâre in danger.
