Root slid into the booth beside Sameen. “Hey, Sweetie... Miss me?” She smirked flirtatiously. Unfortunately, the Machine had been asking a lot of Root. And whenever Root thought to involve her new partner in crime, it was advised against. It was funny, Root thought, she had never been one to follow orders. Well, unless the price was right. But even then, Root was really making the rules. Even if her previous employers thought they were hiring her, she was always the one controlling them. She just let them think the opposite were true. But now, it was almost comforting to know that she just had to listen to the little voice in her ear. Comforting... Except for when it meant she had to go a week longer than she wanted rescuing boring, irrelevant numbers  at all hours of the day and night without her new friend by her side.

“You should have said something sooner.” Root said, her voice laced with concern and a small touch of disappointment and hurt. It was disarming not to have all the answers fed into her ear. The Machine seemed to have made a clear decision not to give Root personal information on the private lives of her connections unless they were in dire need. But to Root, Sameen being anything less than one hundred percent, felt dire.

Root smiled when Sameen commented on her ass, though her smile faded when she heard the rest of what Sameen had to say. “Come here, lets sit you down.” Root said gently, leading her to a chair. Part of Root’s mind was selfishly hurt. Why hadn’t Sameen mentioned she had new meds? Which could only mean one thing - the old ones weren’t working and Sameen had been suffering unbeknownst to her. And that, broke her heart.
