occupation. in tĂr tairngire, rĂłisĂn like other fae is responsible for tending to the land and the same is said for above, replenishing ley lines and aiding the fertility of the land as she travels it. she is also the keeper of the claĂomh solais --- the sword of light, a relic brought by the tuatha dĂ© danann to ireland when they first claimed the land. in fantasy verses, travelers must come across her to claim the sword to defeat an enemy. above ground, in the modern world and its everchanging times --- she travels the land and preys upon mortals and their gifted artists. in earlier centuries she would occupy a castle and hoard her sonnets, poems, love songs and portraits all with herself as the muse featured at their centre. her castle is surrounded by vibrant plant life and mobile, mostly unseen to the naked mortal eye unless weakened and appearing in the low forests, preferably by a body of water. in the introduction of catholicism to gaelic ireland, few mortals became immune to her nature in disbelief of the old folklore, at one point finding herself enslaved to a mortal that took advantage of her gift, and in her weakened state she was thought to be a witch, a pĂșca (shapeshifting trickster of ill intent), or a vampire (of abhartach, the undead that was slain). they burned her home and her cherished treasures, almost claiming her life before the mortal she was bound to succumbed to a wound inflicted in protecting her, though an act of selfishness in trying to keeo hold of her. once freed, she enacted her revenge on the townspeople and left it near barren, sparing only the women and young children before fleeing back to tĂr tairngire to recuperate. there she is myth and legend, though never returning.
in the modern day, circa .... now, she's either an artist in her own right orrrr a head hunter/talent scout type. we haven't yet gotten that far. but i do fw the idea heavyy that she again bound to someone who used her for fame by using HER as the artist at some point in recent times and has only just been freed from this after their death. do you see the vision.

#đčâ out.#yeah. finalising some thoughts today i think#i have to finish off thinking about how exactly both elements of her magic work.#the leannan sidhe (l-hian-nan shee) are fae that take human lovers/seek the love of mortals to kill and keep their blood to keep them young#and enhance their beauty. in a modern representation (which of course was written by a man) if her advances/âloveâ are refused she then#serves the mortal as their slave and still as their muse but begrudgingly and without getting anything in return.#if you accept her she will grant you inspiration and adoration and you are hers. not even in death can you escape her#the only way to escape her is to find someone to replace you as her prey.#but this affair with her leads to a brief life and death surrounded by madness and despair as she leaves you.#at the end of the day she isn't a vampire --- she's a faerie with vampiric tendencies but anyone who looked at her would think. vampire.#she belongs to the tuatha de dannan (tribe of the gods) and services the fertility of the land with powers related to the earth and element#in reference to her rejection leading to enslavement i think in this case it works in a way of immunity to her advancement.#thus trapping her with you instead of being stuck with her. which then you're able to use her ability to inspire and use her as a muse.#but its forced and you can choose to let her go or keep her. eventually you'll die because you won't be immune to aging or illness.#but she's stuck until that point. which i think has happened to her once maybe.#i like the idea of modern day talent scout but i also think of her reaching further and being a celebrity with adoring fans. hmm.#i think its worse if a woman enslaved her. just saying.#men she rips apart for fun on a weekly basis but the feeling of being stuck with a woman that was. immune to her âloveâ and instead#chose to keep her caged with her and use what she would have given her. yaur. anyway#still thinking#alternatively man who in the modern day (perhaps 1960s or something) used her for fame. ill think#she DOES go after men though.#but she is a lesbian <3 romantic love + intimacy is reserved for women. hence i think it hurts more if a woman rejected her + in turn held#her there against her will. yeah. you see the vision im sure
