Akagiyama Saifukuji Temple 赤城山 西福寺

Saifukuji is a temple of the Soto sect in Uonuma City, Niigata Prefecture. It was founded as a temple of the Tendai sect with Yoshishige Hatano as the founder and Soharu Yoshimuro as the founder of the mountain in 1534, but was later converted to the Soto sect and continues to this day. It is widely known that many sculptures of Ishikawa Uncho, a master craftsman of the Edo period, also known as "Michelangelo of Japan", are left behind.
