I finally listened to AC0TAR and like. It wasn’t for me, but I think I get why so many people recommended it to me.
if it had been about nessie following her sister into the magical woods and maybe encountering a certain winged dude, i might have been more into it, but at the end of the day i think my biggest issue was that I just didn’t love the writing style, so who knows 🤷‍♀️

anyway I don’t care how contrary to lore it is, what I’m getting out of reading The Horus Heresy is that astartes and regular human ladies should fuck nasty. it’s a concept that [stefan gif] has everything — size difference, scary one and sunshine one, size difference, looks they can kill and can kill you vs cinnamon roll too good for this world too pure, size difference, theeee sworn knight/protector and noble lady dynamic of all time, SIZE. DIFFERENCE. I mean, that’s everything you could want 😂

I think this is something that has been brewing for a long time — COVID did have a deleterious impact on youth but the youngest voters this year are the cresting wave of something that had already been simmering for years.

A big difference for me now vs. 2016 is that people picked him this time. The fact that he didn't win the popular vote in 2016 was pretty meaningful (and I don't think I'm alone in that thought, although I haven't polled every Democrat). That's not what happened this time around. People emphatically said, yes, we want him.
I also can't forget that my fellow Democrats helped get us here. Many Democrats were not "energized" about Biden despite a good economy, a progressive agenda, and the looming threat of a repeated Trump term. Biden was pressured so heavily by the media and certain prominent party members that he dropped out. And then they didn't deliver a win once they got what they wanted.
I feel disconnected from the American people and I feel disconnected from my political party.

And the people who are angry and frustrated with this city cut across all political beliefs, and include more than a few current employees of the city.
I'm not saying NYC is going to become a mid-Atlantic Waco or Coeur D’Alene, but I am saying that it is not impossible the Empire State gets redder. The suburbs are already a political battleground and with the commuting they bring stuff with them.

honestly I think she’s completely right on every possible level.
this is THE major thing the three successful Dem presidential candidates out of the past ten we’ve run had in common, and it’s the thing they had in common with the winning GOP candidates across the same time frame. the manifestations of the pussyfooting, neurotic, language policing, optics-obsessed self-righteous inanity has morphed or time but the basic pattern remains the same: a guy who sounds like a guy is gonna beat a guy who sounds like a talking head or dorky school teacher or a disapproving scold. every time. every single *fucking* time. that is how it will go.
and don’t start telling me any goddamn bullshit about the popular vote. we have the electoral college and frankly we SHOULD have it because it means that to win you have to actually talk to all kinds of people across all parts of the country, not just a handful of major population centers. the three winners we’ve had since 1980 were able to do that.
but given the other seven attempts, it feels like the party is allergic to trying and allergic to learning from the exact failure they keep repeating.
we have got to pull our heads out of assess. we’ve got to hope it’s not too late for that to matter, but we have got to fucking try.
I don't know if I necessarily agree with all of this, but also:

hey let's start spreading the reminder now that you cannot safely self-manage an abortion with herbal medicine or essential oils. natural abortifacients function by poisoning you; you wait for your body to realize you're dying and reject the pregnancy in order to conserve resources, and hope that happens before the rest of your organs shut down.
i think there will be an upsurge soon of unscrupulous and/or malicious actors preying on desperate pregnant people; do not help them kill people. don't spread recipes for herbal medicines or ingestible essential oil mixtures that purport to cause a pregnancy termination.

I'm not doing the liberal resistance shit anymore. I'm not changing my politics, but I'm not going to spend 4 more years doing the "oh no here's another horrible thing Trump did that will hurt people" just to argue with a bunch of shithead leftists who will still blame Democrats for it even though they encouraged other leftists to sit out the election. The far right got exactly what they wanted, which is to gain the power to hurt as many people as possible, and everyone expects liberals to forgive and forget and subscribe to the NYT and WaPo and be the adults in the room, as always, and try to mitigate the damage and like, no, clean up your own fucking mess for once.

it makes me nuts. you can’t win with a politics of scolding and guilt tripping and you can’t win by kicking a proven winner to the curb and you can’t win by telling crucial parts of your coalition that you think they’re fundamentally bad people who suck ass. incompetent fucking clown show. at this point I’m not mad that we didn’t learn from 2016, I’m mad that we didn’t learn from comparing 2016 and 2020. every state that brought home the bacon for blue in 2020 after being Trump central in 2016 went back to being Trump central. pure reversal. pure and extremely fucking predictable own goal by dems. fucking infuriating. what Biden brought to the table were young men in the south, teamsters in the no-longer-blue wall, and old white folks in the southwest. and the party told all those people to go fuck themselves when they cannibalized the candidate those voters had chosen. and then states those voters carried swung back the other way. insane to be surprised by this. insane to take away any lesson other than “those voter blocks are actually a more critical element of a winning coalition than tiktok teens.”

Russian interference existed in 2016 and 2020. The country was racist and exist in 2016 and 2020. The left flank was unreliable and third party candidates ran in 2016 and 2020.
Biden’s career and his professional style genuinely represented a political coalition that reflects where slightly more than half the country actually is.
The Dem party leadership, elite donors (cough Clooney cough), and twitterati live in a shared delusion, and their passionate resistance to the politics that made Biden a fixture in the senate and a victor in 2020 is what fucked the country over this time around.
“The nation is bad because teamsters and white people and men especially young men and old people all have Problems that they need to Fix and they need to Be Better and do what we want in the way we want with the words we want” is a losing campaign message, but watch Twitter and the DNC triple down on it.
The loss last night was a pure reversal of Biden’s gains from 2020. Which doesn’t mean the country, which is the same racist and sexist and generally conservative place it was in 2020, is just made purely of deplorable people and should be thrown wholesale in the garbage. It means that a winning coalition includes a lot of people the party decided to kick in the nards this time around. And unless the party learns from that, unless the party takes seriously the business of governing with all those people instead of having a technocrat’s tantrum about how the country isn’t where it ~should~ be, the party is not going to be able to govern.

Okay but for real if you live in Maricopa County and voted by mail PLEASE go check the county recorder's webpage to make sure you didn't get flagged for a signature issue!! Apparently something like 12k are still waiting to be cured and we need every single one of those votes to send Kari Lake back to the fucking shadow realm where she belongs and also REPLACE Kyrsten Sinema with someone who's not going to do a stupid little curtsy while they tank progressive policies in the Senate!!
THERE IS STILL TIME PLS CHECK IF YOU LIVE THERE!!! Also maybe check even if you don't live there, I made sure mine got counted in Pima, we can make Blue Arizona happen!!! Check your ballots!!!!
