"It's so fucked up women have to do sex work to survive" so trueee it's so fucked up we live in a capitalist society where you need to do work you don't want to do just to be alive. I'm so glad we're talking about ALL the jobs that are forced onto people, especially women, that are full of harassment. Thank God we're not just focusing on jobs that are already heavily stigmatized and shaming women for doing what's necessary to survive, even though every single person has to do that but for some reason it's immoral when it's a stripper instead of a fast food employee
#fascinating to me that people see sex work as inherently assault#do I understand the argument? yeah ig like. if someone feels forced into it or like they have no choice but to provide services#but 1. treating that like it's the case for all of sex work (it absolutely fuckin isn't) literally just treats these people like they have#no agency. these poor defenseless women who obviously NEVER make this HORRIBLE JOB CHOICE#(aka a job choice I personally dislike) for themselves#and 2. good golly if only there was a way to ensure those in sex work can retain safety in their job and have#their rights respected if someone is to violate them or abuse them at their work#but noooo it's better to remove their 'only choice' or 'last resort' occupation#this totally will fix their situation!! /sarc#I'm going to lose it#respect and listen to sex workers

I cannot overstate how fucked up I am today. I’m operating on almost no sleep and I’m pound for pound more fatigue than person. But we needed cat food.
So I went in and the worker did a little shudder as she’s finishing up with the last customer.
“I had one of those days yesterday,” I commiserated.
“No, it wasn’t them, I was just- it’s kinda heavy.”
I waited.
“My coworker just passed a way,” she admitted. “I just saw her name on a receipt, it hit me kinda hard.”
I nodded. I was painfully aware how little energy was in my tank, and empathy uses so much, but this is not the kind of thing I am capable of brushing off. “Have you ever read Terry Pratchett?”
She looked very confused by the apparent non sequitur. Shook her head.
“He’s a really famous fantasy author,” I told her. “Very funny. But in one of his books he has a system kind of like telegrams. And if someone dies while operating that system, their name is put into it. Their name goes back and forth across the line forever, and he posits that people aren’t really gone as long as we see echoes of them and remember their names.
“That’s what it’s like when you saw her name on that receipt, right? It’s her memory, still going.”
Her eyes got wider as I went on. When I finished she gave herself a little shake. “That’s. That’s really beautiful, thank you for that. I. Wow.”
I smiled over my mask and left with my cat food.

That trans woman doesn't go outside? She's chronically online? Hmm I wonder if there's a reason she doesn't feel safe or comfortable in the outside world... Nah, she's just a loser and we should all make fun of her.

This may seem like a very “well duh” post but i do think it’s important to be clear that when trump claims he intends to “deport” U.S. citizens that that is definitionally not deportation. Deportation specifically refers to the civil process of removal a foreign noncitizen to the country where they hold citizenship. Deportation is also, in most cases, a legal punishment in itself and will not result in the deportee being jailed upon arrival to their country of citizenship. Removing US citizens from the US and placing them in jails in countries that they have no citizenship claim to is commonly referred to as “disappearing,” “kidnapping,” or “trafficking” and discussions around trump’s desire to remove US citizens from the country should refer to it as such

saw an elderly woman walking around with a tote bag whose design were the four AO3 fic category squares and she very excitedly asked if i was a reader or a writer bcs nobody else at the con had recognized it, and after telling her that i've been writing fic since fanfic.net, she solemnly nodded and explained that she'd been reading fic since "the days of personal websites" but that she only started writing fanfic when she was 47 and oh my god when i tell you that i genuinely teared up on the spot!!!!! like!!! HELL YEAH???? LITERALLY NEVER TOO OLD TO START WRITING. NEVER TOO OLD TO WRITE AND SHARE YOUR FIC.
her enthusiastic "i'm a very nice and bubbly person, i swear! but i love writing angst and major character death :)" nearly took me the fuck out.
icon. legend. diva. i wish her nothing but a kajillion million comments and kudos. i hope her fic updates crash AO3. i hope she knows i'm promoting her to my personal patron saint of AO3.

As someone who can't stand hurt no comfort, gets freaked out by angst, and feels so uneasy when a ship lacks fluffy fanworks, why does my favorite* MTMTE ship have to be Chromedome x Rewind
*My favorite canon ship. Overall my favorite is Skids x Swerve

Hey guys, I really hate to bring this stuff up on here, but the reality is that I'm really struggling with money right now. I don't get paid until the 9th and I need money to get food for the work week until then and things to manage my pain with my current severe ear infection. I'm usually better at managing my money but I miscalculated severely last paycheck and I don't have anything to fall back on. My venmo is Angel-the-Demon, if anyone has some extra money they can donate I would really appreciate it. Obviously only donate if you can and want to, I don't expect anyone to.

So a white woman today wished me happy canada day, and when I did not respond positively, told me that while she's not much for canada day, she was thankful for her freedoms as a queer/trans person.
I told her "glad you all get freedoms at least"
And it really is 'you all' and not us.
My people's traditional systems of gender and social roles are not recognized. There's no legal recognition for people who are ayahkwêw, iskwêhikan, or înapîkasoht. No understanding of the roles of tastawiyiniwak.
Our traditional styles of relationships, the way that we do "marriage" has no legal protection. Legal marriage takes after european christian marriage. Why are Indigenous unions considered less valid? Why does the occupational government get a say in who I choose to share my life with?
Polyamory was not uncommon among my people. People regularly had multiple partners. You could have multiple spouses. These relationships nowadays have no recognition, no protection.
Children were raised communally. Nowadays most kids are raised without our language. More than 70% of kids in care in Alberta (where I live) are Indigenous. Instead of being raised by the community our kids get stolen off reserve and sent to white families.
People had the right to end relationships at any time. How many women get stuck in abusive marriages because of the high financial cost of divorce? How many Indigenous wives have been murdered by settler husbands before they could leave???
50% of sex trafficking victims in so called canada are Indigenous women and girls. Rates of rape and sexual violence are higher against our women and two spirit people than anyone else. We are just now starting to talk about how many Indigenous girls went from residential school to arranged marriages with white men.
But its great that settlers can have their queer marriages recognized. Happy canada day.
