Look all im saying is that at this point in time Pink Diamond as Rose Quartz is the only gem in the entire show with cleavage, even the real Roses dont have cleavage. Pink really saw some humans walking around and went "idk what the fuck those chest sacks are but i want them."

A very important question.

We’ve seen the different diamonds’ ship throughout the series and how they seem to be controlled by the body part they represent, as Steven, for example, demonstrates in Legs From Here to Homeworld by using his legs to control the butt-shaped Pink Diamond-mobile.

So my question is, since White Diamond’s ship is a limbless torso who is not exactly the most flexible anatomical part in the human body, how does The Great Colgate Max White Authority launch/control her own ship? 

Hypothesis no.1:

Stretching.

To get the ship started, WD could be doing some intense yoga stretches, without the breathing and relaxation, to keep the right amount of stress and hatred to properly rule an evil empire .

Some sexy hula hoop swings.

I mean, isn’t that the best way to assert dominance? It’s also fun and helps you to stay in perfect shape *wink*

I love to imagine an overly enthusiastic white-former-evil-grandma on a hoverboard-like control pad, swaying forth and backwards like a professional surfer to fly into space. It sparks joy to me.

Isn’t Pearl pretty minimalist? And if anyone feels like each of her possessions is uniquely crafted and endowed with an essence that absolutely can’t be replicated, it’s probably Pearl, so I am guessing she probably doesn’t replicate her magic axes. What does she need to duplicate? Is this where Steven’s shirts come from?? Is she duplicating loo roll? Is Pearl manufacturing counterfeit bills on the side? Is this where all the replaced tvs come from??

another day, another chance to be grateful for rebecca sugar understanding the importance, centrality & inherent truth of one’s own identity as the real you in a metaphor applicable to trans people. they really “get it”, more than most writers.

i really mean that. as a trans person, i’m pretty cynical about how most trans representation plays out. even when trying to be supportive, explicit trans characters usually feeds into truscum-ism, cissexism (“they look just like a real woman, and that makes them real”) or otherwise dreary tragedy-porn… 

leave it to SU to simply say “your identity is the real you. no ifs or buts. neither your body parts nor how others misgender you defines you. only you do”. 

it affirms the person in question, without making it overly complicated. it’s not one of those shitty narratives where a trans woman is told they need to “be a father for their son” or a Discussion™ where the truth is Somewhere In The Middle, where maybe both trans people and transphobes Have A Point..

they don’t - steven defines himself. those who try to misgender him are wrong.

even if you don’t count metaphor as representation, it’s undeniable that this has helped me more than most explicit representation ever has. because they get it.

“i’m me. i’ve always been me”.

this is a radical rejection of the notion that a trans person’s “real” gender is up or debate. steven’s true self is not ambiguous or conditional. he is simply himself. even when those around him don’t accept him as such. just as trans people are themselves, regardless of whether they’re socially accepted, whether they’re “out”, whether they fulfill a stereotypical social role, whether they fit stereotypes of appearance or presentation. being yourself is enough.

this is why i think it’s equally important to have behind-the-scenes creative representation - where trans & non-binary people get to write their own stories - as it is to have explicit actor/character representation. when you write from experience, you write a perspective that resonates. that’s exactly what i needed.

the only real difference in who is able to analyze steven universe or not is 100% down to who grew up on the vocaloid “story of evil” songs, which deal Heavily in seeing the same characters from several conflicting perspectives.

also, miku is bisexual in that story. so that helps too.
