i dont usually add onto posts like this but there are SO MANY harmful elements to the binary ‘men are Evil Ugly Bastards women are Beautiful Uwu Angels’ ideology.
like im not saying ‘never criticise or joke abt men’ or discouraging u from supporting women, but it is categorically harmful to everyone to act like that. as ppl have said, it treats men as inherently bad, thus excusing men for their bad behaviour and discouraging them from working to change. it also demonises and invalidates bi/pan/etc women who date men. it invalidates ppl who have been abused by women, regardless of the victim’s gender. it suggests that all m/f relationships will be toxic and all f/f relationships will be healthy, but wlw can face abuse at the hands of other wlw.
and as ppl have mentioned, it encourages trans mascs to feel guilty for their gender and i think its part of why some ppl like to think theyre being #Progessive for saying ‘i hate all men INCLUDING trans men uwu ur all misogynists’ which like. okay sure, but please realise that, although trans men can be misogynists, we can also be victimised by misogyny. plenty of trans men aren’t out or don’t ‘pass’ and might never pass, which is fine!!!! but it also means that those trans men do not benefit from male privilege bc society doesn’t realise they are a man, and demonising these men for their gender is super alienating!!! i understand plenty of ppl wont mean harm by these jokes but pls think abt the implications of the things ur saying and maybe at least try to reel it in a little bit
telling ppl attracted to men that there are no good men out there or that men can’t love only normalizes poor treatment from men & doesn’t do anything helpful

a lot of children - especially mentally ill children - end up traumatized not because someone was specifically hurting them but because their needs weren’t being met, or because their problems weren’t being seen, or because they were rendered particularly vulnerable by other aspects of their identity, like queerness or race.
and it can be hard to look at your childhood and go “I was hurt” and also know that the hurt wasn’t deliberate. it’s uniquely painful to not have someone to blame.
you do not have to excuse the people who hurt you, even if it was unintentional. & acknowledging your own pain does not necessarily entail blaming them for it.
you are allowed to do what you need to do in order to recover.

The prosecution called Giroux, the caseworker, as its only witness. In response to questions from Grace’s attorney, she acknowledged she did not know what type of educational disabilities Grace had and did not answer a question about what accommodations those disabilities might require. Her assessment that Grace hadn’t done her schoolwork was based on a comment her mother made to her teacher, which Charisse testified she said in a moment of frustration and was untrue.
Grace’s special education teacher, Tarpeh, could have provided more information and planned to testify but had to leave the hearing to teach a class, according to the prosecutor.
Grace and her mother testified that she was handling her schoolwork more responsibly — and that she had permission to turn in her assignments at her own pace, as long as she finished by the end of the semester. And, Charisse said, Grace was behaving and not causing her any physical harm.
The transition to virtual school had been difficult, Grace testified, but she said she was making progress. “I just needed time to adjust to the schedule that my mom had prepared for me,” she said.
Brennan was unconvinced. Grace’s probation, she told her, was “zero tolerance, for lack of a better term.”
She sent her to detention. Grace was taken out of the courtroom in handcuffs.
A Michigan judge sent a 15-year-old Black girl to juvenile detention for struggling to complete some of her schoolwork after her school shifted to online learning, despite the fact that her teacher said she was doing well in school and her caseworker not even knowing that she had ADHD.
