I randomly thought of a crack idea where Cale suddenly wakes up as the Evil Queen's magical mirror in a dimly lit underground room and all he can think of is 'Ah shit, here we go again. Got dropped into another shitty alternate dimension without my consent.'
He doesn't know why he woke up as a big-ass mirror hanging on the wall but as usual he quickly gets used to it and decides to take long naps for the meantime. He'll probably wake up back in his old world again. Until a door creaks open, and a dominating figure wearing an extravagant and flashy outfit (Cale needs to bleach his eyes for witnessing such a horrendous view) saunters toward him. If Cale has a jaw — but he doesn't because he's a mirror for who knows why — it would fall limping on the floor.
'IT'S THAT FUCKING WHITE SHIT!!!'
And that same 'White Shit' looks at him with that smug face of his, flaunting his ridiculous outfit. "Mirror, mirror on the wall, whose the fairest of them all?"
'What a stupid cliche question.'
"Certainly not you." Cale replies curtly.
White 'Shit' stares at him with a twitching eye. "You're acting unusually rude today."
"It's because I have the misfortune to have someone as ugly-looking as you as my owner."
"...When did you get such an attitude?"
"When you thought it was a good idea to disturb my beauty sleep with that face of yours." Cale shoots back.
White Star narrows his eyes. "Answer the question seriously."
"But I am being serious?"
"I'll be asking again and only once. Mirror, mirror on the wall, whose the fairest of them all?"
With full conviction, seriousness, and confidence, Cale answers with an unapolegetic smile. "What an obvious answer. It would be none other than Cale Henituse of course."
White Star looks at him in a mix of confusion, anger, and shock. "...Who the fuck is Cale Henituse?"
"Someone who definitely looks better than you, that's for sure."
"..."
*Cues the clamor of shouts, shrieks, and cries in a razed battlefield (which is actually just some kind of brutal beauty pageant and Og!Cale is utterly bewildered why the Queen or King in this case is yelling profanities at him when he was just drinking quietly in his room with the imperial army following right behind him — "Why the hell is His Majesty and his troops barging into my room unannounced?!") while Cale lives his slacker life peacefully as a mirror.*

reading @/blueteller's post about choi han's potential birth year made me think about how young he was when he got yeeted to the forest of darkness
he was a high school freshman and 17 years old—taking account korea's age system, he could've actually been 15-16 years old by international standards—choi han was literally just a baby. this is even more insane to me now that i'm the same age, the only difference being that i'm a high school senior

I want to tell you how much I like your lcf posts they're super helpful and fun! I was wondering if you can tell some infos about choi han, his wiki is tragically short and there's no many information there which is kinda ironic considering he's the "og protagonist" and is a major character. Do you by any chance have any idea about what era of Korea he came from and maybe the kind of uniform used that time?
In order to answer the question, "when Choi Han was born?", we must start with his family. And to do that, we must begin with our actual main character; Kim Rok Soo. When exactly was he born? We get a very decent clue right away:
"It was a typical day off. It had been a while since he had read an actual book instead of on his phone, so he went to the library to check out some books." –EAP translation of TCF Chapter 1
"It started as a typical day off. He hadn't leafed through a physical book in a while, what with how often he read on his phone, so he went to a book rental shop to borrow some." –Official translation of LCF Chapter 1
Both versions state pretty much the sam thing. We can conclude three things:
Smartphones and e-books were popular in Korea by the time the present happened, since Kim Rok Soo was used to them.
Because we have to take into account the Monster Invasion of Earth 1, e-books had to gain popularity BEFORE it initially happened, since after that point humanity would be mainly focusing on rebuilding, both in the physical and social way. I doubt e-books would be a priority for humanity to develop afterwards, so they had to be invented AND popular before that point.
Since Kim Rok Soo was poor before "the cataclysm", him being a college student with multiple part-time jobs on top of being an orphan… It would be wise to consider whether there was a time in Korea where electronic devices became a part of college scholarships. Because he couldn't possibly afford them on his own, so he definitely got used to them through a funded scholarship program.
According to my online research, the use of electronic devices in colleges was already underway by 2010, when smartphones were already widespread and common technology. I think this is a good starting point for our timeline: by the time Kim Rok Soo was 20, the state of technology of Earth 1 was at least comparable to what we had in 2010. This is our "earliest" starting point.
Our "latest" point should probably be in 2018, when the author of the series first started posting in Korean on Munpia. Because while this story does technically take place 16 years in the future, it is a surprise twist which gets revealed much later on; at the beginning, the readers are under the assumption that Kim Rok Soo is "a regular guy from a regular South Korea".
So: Kim Rok Soo was born somewhere between 1990 and 1998. This means Choi Jung Soo was also born between 1990 and 1998, because they were the exact same age.
Choi Jung Soo is Choi Han's paternal cousin/nephew once removed. In other words, Choi Han had a brother, who had a son, who then had Choi Jung Soo. So generation-wise, Choi Han should be around the age of Choi Jun Soo's grandfather.
Grandfathers generally have to be at least 30 years older than their grandchildren. Once again, according to online research, the average age gap between grandparents and their grandkids in Korea should be 59 years. So between 30 and 60 years sounds about right.
That means that the earliest age of Choi Han we should be considering should place his birth around year 1930, and at latest 1968 – let's round it up to 1970 for simplification. Then Choi Han transmigrated at the age of 17 (I heard once that Koreans measure their years differently or something so he should actually be 16 but whatever; one year makes little difference here), so around 1947, to 1987 at latest possible date.
If we take earlier numbers into account – Choi Han being born in 1930 and transmigrating in 1947, what historical era was it? World War II era, obviously, and Korea was under Japanese colonial rule (1910–1945), so it probably wasn't such a great time. Luckily Choi Han was too young to get drafted into military, as the minimum age was exactly 17.
Then, what about the technology?
Most Koreans were involved in agriculture or low-level labor under the colonial regime, and Korean children were given substandard education, with no focus on technology use. Their society only had access to basic mechanical and electrical technologies, such as typewriters and factory machinery. Phone already existed, but were limited to landline, and more common in government offices than households – mostly exclusive to the upper Korean class citizens and elite Japanese residents. So the Choi family definitely did not have them. Between 1930 and 1970, cars were a luxury or rarity, with domestic car production only kicking off in the mid-1960s; so no cars for the Chois either. First public TV broadcast in South Korea happened in 1956, so they did not have TVs just yet either. Computers did not enter the stage until mid-to-late 1940s, and were only in use in military and research settings in countries like the USA and Great Britain. The internet came in only in the late 1960s in the USA, so Choi Han definitely never witnessed it, much less used it. South Korea's true technological development began in earnest during the late 1960s to 1970s, and accelerated through the 1980s and 1990s – so Choi Han could have witnessed some of it, but not all that much. Not with him and his family living in a peaceful countryside.
So, uh… we gotta face it guys… no matter of how much of a "modern" person Choi Han was as a transmigrator… he was actually kind of a peasant? Like, a legitimate one?? He could read of course, but his family DEFINITELY consisted of farmers, no matter if they could swing a sword or not.
I did not expect this when I began researching this topic hahaha!
No disrespect to farmers of course (that would be hypocritical of me), but like… no WONDER Choi Han had such a rough time in the Sealed God's Temple Test of Indignity! Imagine, this guy must have felt like on another planet!! (Well it literally was lmao) He made a jump from a war colonial era or post-war recovery era countryside, to the 21st century modern city and an office job! Man, I feel so bad for him. And his realization that he had no place on modern Earth make so much sense. I would have felt the exact same way in his shoes; Roan Kingdom medieval style must have felt more like Korea to him than the actual Korea.
As for the part of the question regarding school uniforms…
Not everyone was able to afford uniforms in Korea back then, due to obvious financial constraints, so many children did not have "real" uniforms and wore simple, handmade, second-hand stuff instead. But generally, what was considered Korean school uniforms for boys at the time was based on Western-style military: blazers, pants, high collars, neckties, buttons, caps et cetera. They were commonly navy or dark blue, with occasional gray maybe? Only after the war some USA influences came in, like turning the pants into shorts and overall making the uniform less soldier-like and strict.
So if you are looking for inspiration for fanart to draw Choi Han in accurate Korean-style school uniform from his time period, something that looks like a dark blue navy uniform is probably your best bet.
Wow, this was an expected dive into South Korea's history! I learned a lot. I hope you found this helpful at well!
#Blueteller-nim I love you#choi han info crumbs let's goooo 🥳#Although regrading school uniform he was shown wearing gakuran type clothing on that one novel illustration was that also accurate?#I actually did plan to draw ch in uniform#Genderbent ver but now that I thought about it does girls even go to school at that time period?#I know nothing about korean history and culture I apologize#Sorry for yapping ♥️#I just like choi han a lot I think#Thank you in advance

The Birth of a Tiny Hero
This artwork is collaboration between me and @snowflake-06 ! She did lovely coloring while I did lineart. This drawing represents the cover of the picture book "The Birth of a Hero" that kid Kim Rok Soo refuses to let go and constantly reads over and over! (❁´◡`❁)

It's almost start ahh I haven't finish anything I planned 😭
I wasn't really thinking when I join this event (I just want to be part of lcf event for once lol) and now I got reminded that I'm suck at making any kind of fan content, don't know how to write, don't know how to narrative drawing 😔
I already have a few things in mind but it might be a bit cringe and cliche or just not gut wrenching enough eugh 💔
But it is what it is I guess so anyway there's a few wip I have for this event
Soos haunting krs (romh scene inspired 😋)
krs and scars
One sided alcale ??
Then there's also some stuff I'm not sure to is allowed to submit (I wanted to ask on server but I keep forgetting to) is parodies allowed?
Alnst paro stuff (chch my clematis or ogchch cure)
Chch shikiori no hane (it was animatic wip but last time I read the infos animatic submission isn't allowed so I might find a way to turn it into comic or something)
LCF Cafe Fluff vs. Angst event WIPs
The event is coming closer and closer every single day (●ˇ∀ˇ●)!
With this I've wanted to ask, if you've decided to join, what are some of the stories or artwork you're planning on publishing for the event?
(If you're curious about the event, more information can be found in the following post.)
I will start... I've joined FLUFF SIDE!
CJS & Little monster LSH
This is a 3 chapter short fanfic of Choi Jung Soo's adventure with a little monster LSH. It is inspired by pokemon artwork made by taengnya1221 on twt.

Some other stories I hope to post during the event are: Hitman CJG / GoD LSH & Little monster KRS CJS/Toonka Baby CJS Alberu & little Soos
#sorry for yapping here#I never open discord I'm kinda worried if there's some info I missed#how many submission is appropriate because two months is a long time#like would one be too pathetic or ten too ambitious?#I'm very nervous about joining this event btw this is like first day in collage and I feel like I'd be thrown tomatoes at if I open my mout#something something lcf tcf tags#LCF Cafe event

this is absolutely just my obsession with misunderstandings in fiction coming through, but whilst I greatly enjoy fics where characters from TCF and/or TBOAH react to KRS!Cale's life, what I really want is a reaction fic that does NOT tell them everything. I want a fic that, instead of letting absolutely everybody know about everything KRS!Cale has done so that they more or less know the truth of things, creates new and exciting misunderstandings, and have THAT be the focus
Like most of the reaction fics I've read have an ending (or presumed ending in the case of WIPs) where all misunderstandings have been pretty much dispelled. There might still be some secrets in some cases, but all the misunderstandings are pretty much cleared up and a shit ton of secrets have been revealed
Fuck that. Give me a reaction fic where what they do/don't react to has been selectively chosen to cause MORE misunderstandings. TCF canon+fandom are both rife with misunderstandings it's kind of inherently part of it all at this point but look at me. Look at me. I PROMISE we can make it worse
(edit: I'll limit myself to one example of how that could be played per bulletpoint but trust me I have like 3+ examples for every bulletpoint)
Here's a few options I can think of just now, there's probably loads more, assuming we're starting with the premise of some form of reaction fic:
- knock out or don't include KRS!Cale in the reacting side of things, therefore all other reacting characters have to rely on what they see/hear and discussions with each other, with nobody there to clarify things. this would probably rapidly snowball into bizarre assumptions + interpretations that nobody corrects (or only corrects with weirder versions of what might be going on) very quickly
- you could easily create a billion misunderstandings about Kim Rok Soo and/or Cale!KRS. for example: simply not explaining the transmigration + regression
- what if you simply didn't let the characters know that TCF/TBOAH was another world. leave them thinking both things have happened/will happen in the same world they all live in. what then. for example: no duplicates of the characters you choose to react, take them from earlier in their respective timelines and/or people who have otherwise had no reason to meet, be extremely selective about what scenes you show, result: allow both worlds to think "woah. all this has been happening without me knowing about it? what the fuck"
- disproportionately show scenes in which a character has or acts on an inaccurate belief. do not show said belief being cleared up. let's have a montage of people assuming KRS!Cale is not human and scenes that inadvertently support that assumption and then clear none of that up, for example. let characters go home after this shit side-eyeing KRS!Cale and/or TBOAH Cale like no one's business
- show less scenes than most reaction fics choose to. for example, I know it's interesting to think about how characters react to Raon's rescue, but consider: how would they react to NOT seeing Raon's rescue? what if they just saw several scenes where KRS!Cale has no dragon and then suddenly scenes start showing up where there IS a baby dragon, and everyone in said scenes acts like that's normal, no explanation. I want to see the resulting conspiracy theories for that
- show roughly the same scenes/same amount of scenes as reaction fics tend to....but show less of KRS!Cale's thought process for such. for example: generally people either don't know abt it at all or they know he did it to get an Ancient Power, but please imagine a huge room of people trying to figure out why they've spent the last ten minutes watching scenes of KRS!Cale buying truly obscene amounts of bread only to dump it into a hole beneath some tree
- instead show MORE scenes than most reaction fics tend to include. for example, throw in a scene of baby!og!Cale listening to his mom tell him his time is warped, maybe alongside a scene of White Star's wild theorising about KRS!Cale, to maximise confusion. Now I'm gonna be honest and say that I've seen several fics with Jour telling og!Cale about his time but I legitimately do not know whether that's a canon scene I haven't read up to yet or a fanon idea that several people liked, so in case of the latter I'll add a second, alternate example of how the extra scenes thing could fall it. So, second example: let's include scenes of KRS!Cale talking to gods through whatever methods, and scenes of him talking to Cale!KRS and Jung Soo and Sui Khan. For added misunderstandings let's make whatever controls the scenes use the same method to clarify "this being is not a mortal originally native to this world" for all of those beings, because then if that's never explicitly stated then we could have the characters reacting assume that that mechanic actually indicate "divinity" and therefore assume that Cale!KRS, Jung Soo, etc, are gods. For even more added misunderstandings, keep that assumption but add "hey, KRS!Cale isn't a mortal /originally native to this world/ either, he transmigrated, ditto for Choi Han" and have the reacting characters wonder if they've made a mistake somewhere or if they have two gods (Choi Han and KRS!Cale) just....around. Maybe have them try to connect nonexistent dots with how in TCF Choi Han follows KRS!Cale and in TBOAH Choi Han and Cale met and immediately hate each other
- have them see a few scenes that just, are nor relevant to anything. not often but occasionally thrown in there there'll be a brief clip of Random Citizen 251 walking through town and then buying some fruit from the market or something. then let the reacting characters scramble to try and figure out the relevance of this because surely if they're being shown this scene it must be important somehow, right? right???
- whoever said these scenes had to be in clear chronological order, or let the characters have any idea of what happens when? no one. we don't have to do that. fuck, you could even show a few scenes from when KRS!Cale's Ancient Powers were alive, let them try to decipher THAT. you could for example show them Henituse County being attacked by wyverns and then show bits of the Plaza incident, which would probably result in the extremely unfortunate assumption that the celebration that will get attacked is a different later one than the one that actually gets attacked (...nobody said reaction fics had to have 100% easy-ish happy endings either-)
- most reaction fics I've read either have the characters reading something (TCF, Wikipedia, etc) or they have the characters watching TCF like it's a movie. Either way they figure out very quickly that KRS!Cale is at the heart of everything going on. New plan! They don't get to know who the 'main character' is for a long time. For example, have them watch TCF as though it's a movie BUT it's in first person perspective (from KRS!Cale's point of view) and minimise the number of scenes in which people actually use his name. Let's see the reacting characters be like "uhhhh well we're looking v slightly UP at the crown Prince of Roan so whoever this is is shorter than him by a tiny bit", "does anyone recognise this fancy place we keep waking up in? no? fuck [talking abt Super Rock Villa]", "do we even know what country this person' from? I was assuming he was at least from the Western Continent but then the last several scenes have all had him casually in the Eastern Continent..", it'd be really funny. Hell have them assume for a brief period of time, until another scene dispels that belief, that with KRS!Cale's nonchalance around Alberu, Witiria, Litania, etc, maybe the person whose perspective they're seeing these events through is a ruler from an unknown region, or something
- have all scenes be about/memories from past or future of Cale BUT interpret "Cale" really generously. What I'm saying is there should be scenes from Kim Rok Soo, TBOAH Cale, og!Cale, KRS!Cale, and Cale!KRS's memories/future events and it should be real fucking unclear what's what. Ideally in a way that maximises confusion
- reaction fics often include bits of KRS!Cale's thoughts, at least, the bits we see in the narrative of TCF. Why don't we also include random snippets of record? But without context. KRS!Cale knows that that snippet he suddenly remembered is from a novel he read three years ago, because he remembers yk reading the whole novel etc, but do the characters reacting to these scenes know how to distinguish between "random snippet remembered from (fictional) source" and "random snippet remembered from (nonfictional) source" and "KRS!Cale's actual, often random or seemingly off-topic thoughts"? No, no they don't, because they don't have the necessary context to do so
Okay now onto reasons the above bulletpoints could be included:
- whoever is in charge of showing the scenes genuinely just didn't realise it would be an issue; this could for example be how that last bulletpoint happens it just didn't occur to them that someone who doesn't have Record might struggle to discern what was that ability and what was usual thoughts/memories
- whoever is in charge of the scenes is trying to create misunderstandings on purpose. often people writing reaction fics elect a god to be in charge of that, so we could for example have a god of mischief trying to cause maximum chaos (I think I've actually seen that before, though they were trying to chase chaos by revealing secrets not by causing more misunderstandings) or maybe it is SOMEHOW One Final Hurrah from the god of despair who thought maybe causing enough confusion would make KRS!Cale feel misunderstood and isolated and miserable
- technical difficulties/someone fucked up the process of letting them read/see scenes. oops
- Neither Cale (KRS or og) can be here to clear up any possible misunderstandings because there's some inherent incompatibility with having them present and showing scenes/memories of theirs at the same time. Just can't do it. They can be here or you can have smth to react to but not both
- whoever is in charge of the scenes just doesn't have enough power/energy to present things in a clearer way (chronological, more scenes, etc)
- they could have done it in a way that was less confusing way (third person POV instead of seeing through KRS!Cale's eyes, for example) but they thought this was better for emotional impact, which they deemed more important. Maybe they thought the characters would figure out who it was eventually anyway and the emotional impact would make them more likely to understand+sympathise with KRS!Cale which was the ultimate goal orrr thought it would make TBOAH characters more likely to take this shit seriously and stop fighting each other to instead take notes and plan which was the ultimate goal
I'd also really like to not only see reaction fics that increase confusion/misunderstandings/etc but to then have the fic continue PAST when they've reacted to stuff. I want to the characters dumped back where they came from and I want to read at least another 10 chapters from there about the fallout
I feel like there was something more I wanted to add to this post but I forgot so I'll leave it here
more reaction fics that tell you stuff but clarify nothing! maximise confusion rather than minimise it! cause all the problems in the world! yeah!

Don't mind me just thinking about the Kim Rok Soo of the past.
Yk, the one left behind at the time when lsh and cjs died. The one who had no idea if there could ever be a future for him (or if he ever wanted one).
So i think. Maybe afterwards, when krs finally went back to his room, alone. Maybe 'that day' was supposed to be followed by a small party at his house, just a well deserved rest. Maybe his living room was filled with drinks and snacks gathered in one place.
Worn out cards stacked together to play night-long.
A novel that krs was going to recommend to lsh (and if he didn't like it, krs planned to re-read it when the other two fell asleep)
And maybe Rok Soo had planned to cook a spicy stew, Jung Soo's favourite one, with all the ingredients already gathered.
But now, he came back. Alone. Quiet. All the snacks untouched. The cards abandoned in a corner. The vegetables smelling foul. Three empty tea cups on the table. Now forever empty.
Rok Soo kept it all the same. For a week. And then two. Till flies were buzzing around the rotten food and the crumbled cards were getting stuck to the soles of his shoes. Then he picked everything up.
Every little trace of their future. Of all that could have been.
And threw it all away.
He woke up next morning to an empty living room. And went to work again, ignoring it all.
