Take a bite. Niko Reece Halstead 30 years old cardiothoracic surgeon [resident] I want you to fall asleep craving the feel of my skin against yours. The way our bodies curl in sync and warmth overtakes the room like a sauna. I want you to wake up in the morning so desperate to hear my voice.

alecto was one of those people that would go to a bar, or a club, and not get a any alcohol. it wasn’t anything special, as people did that all the time, but she did feel like the odd one out sometimes if she did, and others around her were drinking their beers and their cocktails. and yet, she was thirsty, so damn it she was gonna get her juice. “pineapple juice please.” she said as she sat beside a someone who looked well on their way to being drunk. or tipsy. she really wasn’t a pro at telling how much alcohol someone had had unless it was terribly obvious. she knit her brows and looked at his drink. “no, that’s just the reflection.” alecto said. “and there are bubbles. but that’s all. no glitter. i don’t think that’d be healthy.”
Reece squinted at the glass a little more, bringing it closer to try and see if it really was just reflection of sparkling lights behind him, or if there was glitter. “I feel like I’ve seen glitter on baked shit before. There’s gotta be some kind of edible kind.” He shrugged, taking a sip of it anyway. “Pineapple juice?” It wasn’t that he was judging that she wasn’t drinking, it was just her choice. Straight pineapple juice was something he may drink a bit of in the comfort in his own home, and just a sip. A whole glass of just pineapple? That’s what he was more concerned about.

When Andrej sat at the bar, he hadn’t even realised that it was Reece he’d sat beside but now he was there, he couldn’t exactly stand up and move away. Not that he disliked Reece, it just felt WEIRD hanging out with his brother’s on-off boyfriend. Plus, he technically wasn’t even supposed to be drinking and hanging out at bars, but in a small town it was practically impossible to go anywhere without seeing someone he knew. “Yes, there’s absolutely glitter in that and the only purpose it serves is to make your vomit glittery at the end of the night. Not that I would know from experience.”
Reece looked over at the voice, not really knowing what to do about the fact that it was Aksel’s brother. The pair had more of a physical relationship than anything. They had some conversation but for the most part it didn’t leave past hospital doors. They hadn’t hung out outside of work, they hadn’t gone on a real date, or even talked about it. They mostly just....fucked. There was enough conversation, enough distance to give the other a comfortable space to speak freely on what could be bothering them, what was going on in their lives. He knew plenty about Andrej. “Sounds like you’re speaking from personal experience.”

Micah had taken a break from his spot at the booth, letting a pre-made mix play so he could take a small break. He’d passed through to the restroom and was now saddling up the bar for a water and a Red Bull. He hadn’t slept well the night before and was dragging through his shift. “Oh yeah, they call that The Elixir,” he suppled, not sure the other man was really looking for a response. “They’re good, don’t let the sparkle put you off. Though I will warn you, edible and digestible… not the same thing.” He gave a knowing look, hoping his drift was picked up. “Cuz that was a surprise the first time you see it.”
Reece scrunched his nose as he listened to the other, though gave it a drink anyway. “At least it tastes good.” He wasn’t exactly well versed in specialty drinks, edible glitter, but at least he knew the medical aspect. He could work his way around a kitchen just fine, actually a decent cook...baking was a different story. At one point in his life he had lived with an excellent baker, but she was ancient news at this point.

Carleigha chuckled as she wound her way through the crowd toward the bar. The friend who’d drug her out that night had caught the eye of a suitor and she was hardly going to get in their way. Letting out a sigh of relief as she spotted a free chair and made a beeline to climb her way into it. At all of 5 ft tall, crossing a bar tended to be an adventure, the chair being her quest accomplished. Tilting her head hearing a familiar voice her head turned to the doctor next to her, her eyes shifting to the drink in front of him. “Could be. Edible glitter makes for a fun and theatrical addition to pretty much everything nowadays. The question is whether you’re brave enough to give it ago, who knows maybe it’ll brighten the hangover”
Reece twisted the glass a little to see if it really did sparkle or he was just seeing things. “Make the hangover a little more...merry..” He wasn’t big into special holiday drinks, or the holidays. His family wasn’t exactly conventional. He had Friendsgivings and holiday parties with friends, but he never got into the spirit. The red glitter in his drink wasn’t something he would have went for, but he was tired of beer. “What are you doing out alone anyway?”

OLIVER.
oliver always had selective hearing and he would argue the world sort of did turn around him, so. when reece pointed to the other people in the distance, oliver looked over and a blush spread across his cheek as a quiet ‘oh’ left his lips. ‘i see. how the hell did i hear oliver from gretchen? sorry buddy, i’m a mess this morning. head’s spinning and i had way too much to drink, so i just figured it was better to play it safe rather than admit i forgot someone.’
He laughed softly at the blush, shrugging it off. “I’d rather admit I forgot someone than assume, but to each their own.” Reece picked up a pomegranate from the tray, squeezing a couple parts gentle to see if he could hear a small crackle of ruby red beads inside. “You could probably pull off the name Gretchen.”

To say Reece had a long day would be an understatement. It was terrible on all accounts from start to finish. Things had been too chaotic and he just wanted to sit down, have a drink, and unwind. At least that’s what he said 2 beers ago. He had moved onto something different, a recommendation from the bartender that he was hoping was good. His plan wasn’t to get drunk, and he wasn’t yet. He was warm, which helped the cool air outside. He was starting to let his guard down and finally relax when someone took the chair next to him. “Is there glitter in this,” he spoke more so to himself, holding up the glass with a concerned face as it shimmered in the light.

“Alright, Princess. Let the kids get it out. You think they have a good sex life anyway?” He shook his head. Every now and then he had seen her at the hospital. Sometimes they’d walk out together, or in, or a quick ‘hi’ at the vending machine when he didn’t have time, or care. “What’s got your panties in a twist?”

Reece looked up at the man, giving him a blank stare as he fumbled his way through half of a conversation. He let him finish, looking down at his phone when it was thrust forward to put himself in. Unlike the darker haired male, Reece had been standing next to a woman who called out to another person, one who was near this new acquaintance.
“Well, Gretchen,” he cleared his throat, pointing to the two people hugging not much further away. “My apologies for not giving you my number...you know...the other night, with the thing, at that time,” he gave him drying before putting a mango in a little clear bag. “It was so much fun, like it didn’t even happen.” Could he have simple said ‘oh sorry, that wasn’t me, I don’t know you’, absolutely. But, this was more fun, and with how he responded, he probably deserved it.
OLIVER.
location: any establishment in town when: anytime status: open || @moorbrookestarters
he was so new to town that he was constantly meeting new people and having to remember names. turns out when oliver wasn’t paying attention, his memory was absolutely shit. so when he was out shopping and someone called his name, he lifted his head and realised he’d forgotten theirs. ollie clearly looked panicked but he mustered a little smile. ‘oh hey! hey.. YOU. how are you?’ he stumbled out, eyes scanning over the person to try and remember anything about them. ‘you know what i realised when i got home? uh, i never got your number! here, so we can keep in touch. we had so much fun then.’ oliver quickly got his phone out to add a new contact and held it out for the person to take.

Reece just watched him with a small shrug. “Rough day, or night, I’m guessing. Your breakfast looks like shit.” He had stopped to pick up a slice of pie for his lunch, a cup of coffee to go so he didn’t have to stop twice on his way in even though he gave himself plenty of time to.
open starter: @moorbrookestarters where: beachwood diner
It was Benji’s day off from work and he had most certainly taken any advantage of that last night. It wasn’t that often that he actually had quite a few drinks, knowing how otherwise he’d need to put in quite an effort to convince his friends - and himself - that he wasn’t going to end up like his father. But after stumbling into a bar that showed a football match yesterday evening, he simply hadn’t been able to help himself. Although he knew that it probably shouldn’t bother him that much after all those years. And on most days it didn’t or at least that’s what he tried to tell himself. Yesterday had been different though. And now he was paying for it with an annoying headache. The fact that it was almost midday and he was sitting inside the diner with his sunglasses on, still picking at the rest of his breakfast, probably should have made it obvious that he wasn’t that keen on having company but when someone still stopped next to his table, he only let out a sigh and glanced up without bothering to remove his sunglasses. Having lived in a small town like this his entire life, there were simply too many people who knew you. “What….?”

Reece took a deep breath as his little bag of limes tumbled to the floor after not properly tying it. “Just finished a 5 hour surgery that came in when I had an hour left.” He put the limes back in the bag, holding it open as she picked up a couple. He didn’t know her name, but he had seen her around the hospital. She seemed to creep herself up to the cardiac wing a few times, but he mostly saw her when he was checking on a couple select patients in his rounds. “What are you doing awake at this time?”

where: RYHALL’S CRANNY
“Let me help you with that.” Cheyenne said as she walked through the supermarket’s front doors. She stooped and began picking things off the floor. It was later than she normally preferred to food shop, but Cheyenne had slept the day away, a side effect of stumbling in the door after her overnight shift in the hospital’s ICU. “Long day or rough start?” she asked with a small, friendly smile. She’d seen plenty of days where nothing went right, most recently last week when she’d found yet another leak in her newly purchased home. Luckily it was something that a quick internet search and run to the hardware store had solved, but she’d be lying to herself if she didn’t admit she was already bracing for the next disaster.

“Okay, can’t say I was expecting that suggestion,” Tony replied. He’d been expecting the typical colors – red, blue, purple. Hell, even green. And at some point or the other, he’d cycled through all of them, but it seemed like Reese had hit on one of the only colors he hadn’t attempted yet. “Can’t really say I pictured myself going prematurely grey, but I figure I could rock the silver fox with a touch of blue look.”
“Not grey,” he corrected. There was a distinct difference between steel blue and grey in his head. It was definitely more blue than grey, but to each their own. It was his favorite color, or one of. He liked muted colors more than bright and vibrant. “Not that you’d look bad with silver hair either.”

AKSEL.
‘ew, is this your idea of foreplay?’ aksel responded as he met the others lips easily for a kiss. he didn’t think they’d have time to see each other today but as he watch reece get his lunch, he realised they might have enough time to even talk. ‘wait, are you free?’ aksel gasped and set his coffee down to smile at reece. ‘me too. wow, we haven’t talked in weeks. shit’s wild. i operate on people’s brains while they’re awake. but uh, nothing much today. ever since we got that new ass kisser resident, i’ve been too slow. she keeps getting surgeries but it’s fine. i’ve been worried about andrej lately, so i don’t know… don’t wanna slip up.’ he didn’t usually confess or actually talk about what was on his mind but there was a calming vibe with reece. he’d gotten used to him and things were easy. best of all, they mostly left their shit at work. it wasn’t like aksel to call him up on a day off, but he was the perfect treat while he was at work.
Reece rolled his eyes at the other’s first question. “As if it hasn’t worked on you before,” he paused, “but no.” He sat down at a table, looking between his lunch and Aksel with a blank stare. “If I wasn’t free I wouldn’t be taking my time.” It felt like ages had passed since the two of them had time to chat. Aksel was the only man who could seemingly keep his attention long enough, not that he wanted anything emotional attached. Emotions just seemed to ruin things, especially when he couldn’t control his own. At the mention of a new resident, he rolled his eyes again. “Want me to slip something into her coffee?” So maybe the oath to ‘do no harm’ slipped his mind for a moment. He could claim he forgot, right? “What’s going on with Andrej?”

Felicity: No need to apologize, it's normal to be busy :) That sounds very tiring. Please take care of yourself! Don't burn yourself out.
Felicity: Oh I don't know about cute! I'm just being a good friend! Thank you though, you're very sweet :)
Felicity: My day has been okay! I've been in the studio since 6 am, but my last class of the day will start in a little bit. I'm definitely feeling ready to go home and see my dog.
REECE: That sounds like way to long to be in the studio, but I'm far less creative
REECE: When are you free next? Maybe we could hang out, get you out of the studio lol

see ? it’s great spending time with penny . she’s cool . she’s a cool fucking girl ! she’s a good time , a blast in a glass . what more could you ask for ? —- anyway , she’s currently digging around in the unmade bedsheets , hunting for her vape ( which seems to have disappeared into another dimension sometime during their last round ) . ‘ really ? i didn’t know you were such a clean freak . ’ it’s not said in a derogatory way , surprisingly , it’s genuine curiosity in her voice . ‘ remind me to never let you see my apartment . ’ not that she really lets anyone but her brothers over , anyway —- the place is practically a biohazard . embarrassing . a grin curves penny’s lips at reece’s suggestion , the image in her head already appealing . ‘ patio door sounds good to me . then we can shower before i leave ? ’
“Just because I’m eating you doesn’t mean I want week old jizz on my peanut butter toast,” he chuckled. Reece was a lot more cleanly in certain areas of his life, but was getting better due to work. He ran his thumb back and forth over her thigh with a small nod. “Patio door then a shower.” He pulled her down into a long kiss, just to give her a taste of what she was about to get...as if she hadn’t gotten the same last night.

“will it hurt your feelings if i say yes?” a playful smirk dances across the features of the bar owner — layla only means to joke, even though she does agree that a vampire was a rather overplayed costume for halloween. then again, she doesn’t remember the last time she dressed up for said festivity. layla leans against the counter opposite from reese, polishing the inside of a glass with a white rag. “batman doesn’t really have much of a personality.” her interjection mixes with a latent shrug of a shoulder, a grin to follow, “bit of a wet blanket. he’s got some neat gadgets though, which is cool.”
He groaned a little. “A wet blanket? That seems a bit harsh. I would make an attractive vampire though..” Reece sighed softly, taking a sip of his beer. It was an odd position to be in. He had the confidence of what he knew to be conventionally attractive, but at the same time he’d much rather sit at home under a blanket with Wednesday at his side. Going out for Halloween wasn’t new territory, but after all the years of school, getting the night off felt like he had to go out for the holiday. “I could just say fuck it and pick someone else, but who?”

“There is literally so much goo in a human body,” probably shouldn’t have been the first words out of his mouth, but they were. A quiet moment in the break room between the pair had him forgetting all his troubles, even if just for a minute, a quick lunch. He gave Aksel a small kiss before letting go of him to get his lunch from the fridge. “Am I really going to spent the rest of my life with my hands in someone’s chest? You know in superhero movies or whatever when they just punch right through,” he made the motion with his free hand, “but you know, not like that because I’m not pulling someone’s heart out. I’m fixing it. Shits wild. What have you been up to today?”
