Did you take all my old clothes, just to leave me here, naked and alone, in a field in my same old town, that somehow seems so hollow now?

I mean as you can see, even the theme of the chat is of 1989 and it was them setting the background only 🤠. What I don't get is why did they ghost me? Like if i would've gotten an answer here I wouldn't have initiated a rant on Tumblr. Idk, if y'all see this, do tell me where I'm wrong and where I'm right - whatevs - I'm not gonna get offended if you just explain it to me like I'm a toddler (I'm a little kid, okay?). Tag-baiting again so that this gets the attention I need.
Saw your recent post and honestly it's loads better to just quit her. Not in the sense that you should never ever listen to her songs ever. I have similar experiences as you - listened to mainstream songs, was a fan when I was 15, like few folklore songs. By 2021 I had listened to better artists but still listened to her. 2023 hit and all that shit started. I was very confused because I'm someone who has strong morals and values and would stand on them if it's up to me. So I couldn't see her the same. Didn't listen to midnights much, like the least listened album because by the time it was released I didn't find her music enjoyable. And all this combined made it easier for me to withdraw from her music. But I still used to listen to a few that I had an attachment to. And then her becoming a billionaire, her reacting to a fan's death like it didn't mean shit to her, her co2 emissions all made me hate her. And the. I stopped listening to her altogether and I haven't listened to a single song in 2024. Ig what I'm saying is if you want to stop listening to her altogether it can be done, or if you want to enjoy listening to her it's also okay. Being an ex-swiftie doesn't mean you're a hater. You can just stop listening to her if she's not enjoyable or you find fault with her. Also a friend of mine was such a huge swiftie, like she really loved her. But she also went down a similar journey. She listens to her once in a while but tries to stay away from her. So what I'm saying is if you feel uncomfortable streaming her music because it is giving her streams which is her biggest achievement, maybe download them from sites. Or if you're comfortable with it, then you can listen.
Hope you have a good day
I appreciate your calm reply bc the internet is going wild about criticising her and it started all of a sudden and so much annoyance from a majority of people i knew were hardcore fans .. just didn't make sense and was quite scary. I agree with you on not entirely quitting her - I don't think I ever can. My literary idols have taught me to value the art, not the artist but the internet is an influential place and my morals are constantly getting challenged and I'm trying so hard to make people value at least the songwriting bit - maybe because I want to value it. I never cared who she dated, what actions of her are contributing to pollution - all that - but the internet is both a scary and enlightening place to be. I was a bit sad about Joe bc I knew Joe as an artist before him being associated with her. I used to be a directioner and then when the band broke up, i sided with Harry. And lately I've been exploring Mitski. So I think I'll go back to give both of these more attention of mine. You do you, anyways, isn't it? If I like a song, i like it. If I don't, I don't. It's high time i work on my attachment issues and focus on the bigger, simpler picture. I loved how you took your time to respond. I loved how you understood me. Thank you.

Also, when I said the internet is going wild, i really mean it. I saw a story of my mutual on my ig which went like
Tumblr media
The crazy fact is that only a few hours ago from this story this person was all feral about "the shortest man that ever lived" and i replied that I'm yet to listen to that one (literally not an easy job to listen to each and every one of it within a few hours of the launch). Anyways, this person used to be a Swiftie (as I'm guessing) until this story (I'm not sure what they prefer now). However, I did reply to them.

I stopped categorising myself as a "Swiftie" or a "fan" when I noticed silence from her on so many important things, she should've spoken on (obviously, her choice; still). i got into her because of a few songs on 1989 (I was in the 7th grade and it was considered really cool at school if we'd listen to English songs. Everybody started with taylor) and then I got back to her when reputation came because she was everywhere - it was quite inevitable and attractive. I stuck through lover because I went through my first heartbreak (I was 15) and most of the songs on it spoke things to me I needed to say to myself. All too well made enough noise I had to check it out. Again not most songs on red, except the mainstream ones. I didn't get into folklore and Evermore right when they were dropped. I stumbled upon "August" while I was in a situationship in 2022 summer and yk i had to just explore. College started I made friends with a girl and she was a hard-core Swiftie. Speak Now, Red, all that stuff. I had to act like I was one as well so that she doesn't make me feel condescending. Now we aren't friends anymore. And I'll agree the Swiftie fandom is kinda delusional and intimidating (saw it first hand). Midnights was okayish for me, but my earlier choices remained the same (folklore, lover). I had proud hopes from TTPD because I'm an english lit major (and a really proud one as all of us should be). I was ready to start fresh and go feral. Haven't been able to wrap it all up - I mean it's like 31 songs on it. I make edits on these songs on my ig to make myself remember which song is which - what lyrics belong to which song and at the end of the day, which song i like - same reason why I post lines from her lyrics here on my tumblr. The purpose of this rant is to know about all the boycott blondie movement that's going on. I'm genuinely curious. I'm using the tag because I want y'all to give your views. I'm also scared of giving her up entirely because I've already detached myself from her personal life and i like her songwriting. I only relate to her art. So do enlighten me.

All my mornings are Mondays stuck in an endless February. I took the miracle move-on drug, the effects were temporary. And I love you, it’s ruining my life. I touched you, for only a fortnight.

You swore that you loved me, but where were the clues? I died on the altar waitin’ for the proof. You sacrificed us to the gods of your bluest days. And I’m just getting colour back into my face. I’m just mad as hell ‘cause I loved this place.

I just hope that no matter how many times this world tries to harden me and turn me into a cold person, I hope I remain soft. May I still be full of love. May I still be soft and sees hope in everything. And to never become something that once broke me.

Beauty is a beast that roars down on all fours, demanding more. Only when your girlish glow flickers just so: Do they let you know? It's hell on earth to be heavenly. Them's the breaks, they don't come gently.
