god, this image scratches a deep resounding part of my brain to the point where i can’t stop thinking about all the details. tui in the sky, la in the ocean, fuelling katara and aang’s synergy as waterbenders and spiritual partners. aang demonstrating the waterbending move of push, while katara demonstrating pull. aang standing on top of the ice (katara’s domain) while katara is standing on top of the clouds (a combination of their two elements). katara quite literally rising with the moon. the airbending and waterbending in two opposite directions, paralleling yin and yang, because katara and aang represent balance and harmony, two forces of nature working in tandem in an eternal dance. the fact that this image was created for the official 20th anniversary consisting only of the two main characters, the genocide survivors who share parallel arcs of becoming masters in their respective elements and titles, who grapple with the weight of revenge versus mercy.
