"Mourning's Dawn"Healing and Living with Grief  November 12 -14, 2017 Sunday- Tuesday
Led by Margaret Fields and Leslee Wray Situated in the peaceful setting of Saint Francis Prayer Center, in Stoneville, NC, Mourning's Dawn, offers a time and place for adults living with grief and loss. 
Over this three-day period, participants will explore and experience how grief and loss touch our lives physically, emotionally and spiritually. Whether your loss is recent or you've been on this journey for sometime, you're invited to join in this time of support, remembrance and reflection.

On Monday, August 14th at 11:15 AM at First United Methodist - Troutman (204 Mills Avenue, Troutman, NC 28166), Coach Dick Cooke (Davidson Wildcats Baseball) will be featured guest speaker at our Happy Hearts event. 
There will be a salad meal (we ask that if possible, everyone bring their favorite salad dish), and drinks and desert will be provided. The cost for the event will be $1.00.

2017 Appalachian District Youth Mission Trip
We are so proud of the Appalachian District Youth who participated in the 2017 Mission Trip! Together they built 4 decks & 2 ramps, 1 Kitchen cleaned & painted, the outside of the house painted &1 bathroom torn out, plumbing repaired, foundation repaired and flooring put down for a diabetic amputee.  Worked on 1 half of a 90 foot roof torn off and put back on for an out of work man who has had major back surgery. Worked on an outbuilding, painted for a widow who had a fire last year & is recovering from cancer.
Way to Go! Thank you to all of the volunteers and Rev. Neill Shaw who is appointed to Union Grove United Methodist Church for putting it all together!

TAYLOR to Present 2017 Laity ADDRESS
Lake Junaluska, NC – Ms. Linda Ollis Taylor will deliver the Laity Address to the 2017 WNC Annual Conference on Saturday, June 24, 2017, at 2:00 p.m. in the Stuart Auditorium of the Lake Junaluska Retreat and Conference Center. The address, entitled “Living the Call of Baptism to Grow in Faith and Make Disciples” [Matthew 28:18-20], was chosen from among numerous entries submitted from by lay persons from across the WNCC.  
Lay delegates, selected to represent the 285,000 lay members of the Western North Carolina Conference of The United Methodist Church (WNCC), join their clergy brothers and sisters for Annual Conference to conduct WNCC business, worship together, prayerfully discern where we are called as a conference, and celebrate the ministry Christ is doing in our midst. The Board of Laity session is set aside to focus exclusively on the ministry and call-to-service of our laity.  During this session, the conference leadership, delegates, and guests learn about the impact of our United Methodist Women, United Methodist Men, United Methodist Youth, and Board of Laity – an impact felt in the local church, community, and world.
Ms. Taylor is a member of Pine Grove United Methodist Church located near Spruce Pine, North Carolina in the Appalachian District.

First United Methodist Church Lenoir, NC Worship Leader & Youth Ministry Assistant First United Methodist Church in Lenoir, NC, seeks an energetic, visionary, and Christ-centered Worship Leader for our Praise Band and First Light Service and Youth Ministry Assistant for our relationship building and faith deepening Youth ministry.  This person will coordinate all aspects of the music ministry to our First Light (nontraditional) service and build relationships with our youth to deepen their worship experience and strengthen their Christian faith journeys. This is a part time position with potential for becoming full time. We are seeking candidates with a Christian faith that is growing in vitality and depth and who exhibit a commitment to life-long learning, spiritual growth, and ministry development. This person will be an integral team member with our church staff and congregation in fulfilling the church’s mission: making disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of individuals, communities, and the world.
