Sunday
Wow--this week flew by fast! I can’t believe that tonight we will be back in good ol’ Marshall, Texas, and back in class tomorrow, but it has been a really good week. Last night we had the privilege of staying the night in Birmingham, Alabama. We all stayed in different places.
Cassie and I got to stay in a lady named Carol’s home who is a native Texan herself (she even has a Texas themed bathroom) and works for the WMU, which is pretty rad. She took us to her church this morning and the message was in my opinion very fitting for us after a week on a mission trip. The message was about laziness--not the type of laziness that you usually think of like lying around all day doing nothing, but spiritual laziness.
This week we saw so many ways that God works daily with Of One Accord Ministry and the people’s lives that they touch every day, and we heard a lot of stories of how God has provided for the ministry in the past and how He continues to do so each and every day. After seeing that and meeting all these wonderful, awesome people and then going back to our old lives at ETBU with work and class and all that fun stuff, it would be very easy to get caught up in our own lives and to become spiritually lazy. I hope the amazing people we met this week will continue to impact us and be good examples as we continue our spiritual walks back home and that we will not become spiritually lazy.

Today we went to the Smoky Mountains and had some fun. The mountains were very pretty! Going to see the amazing scenery was a blessing and truly showed God's beauty. We saw some cool waterfalls and some very nice forms of nature.
We have been sent on a secret mission by our good friend, Mickey! He has given each of us two $5 bills and asked/ordered us to bless two strangers on our way home with these two bills. What an opportunity!! Pray for God to direct us and that some good discussions can come from this opportunity. Pray for God to use this chance to grow us all spiritually and that maybe we get to see something truly miraculous occur!!

Friday--Sunsets
Today was our last day at Rogersville, Tennessee. We packed our last meals for the senior food distribution. We said goodbye to Mrs. Rita who directs and assists the staff and volunteers who work in the food pantry and the Community food deliveries. We also said goodbye to Ms. Verbie who heads up the kitchen even when Mrs Kim is around!
We continued sanding across the street for the new living space for mission teams in the future. Others helped with the food pantry distribution today. At the end of the day we set up for the volunteer banquet to be held tomorrow to honor all the volunteers for One Accord ministry and their good work. This year they celebrate their 25th anniversary and one man’s vision from God to help his community and feed the hungry.
But then it was finally time to say goodbye to our new friends Sheldon, Tammy, Bob, and Mickey. This was the hardest yet the best part of the day. It was a blessing to hear the prayers and words of encouragement along with the thankfulness the ministry staff showed and spoke to us. Intercession is such a powerful thing, especially in the hands of godly men and women. We were indeed blessed and sent back with the Lord’s blessing, peace and watchcare asked for each of us.
I’m encouraged to witness the great work being done in East Tennessee and the amazing moves of God in the hearts if His people! I will never forget their love, kindness and encouragement this week. In Galatians Paul encourages the brethren in Galatia to … ‘not grow weary in doing good’. And that is my firm prayer for all the staff and volunteers at Of One Accord.
And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up. (Galatians 6:9 ESV)
We arrived in Gatlinburg around 6:00 PM and are experiencing the excitement of a tourist destination. Tomorrow we visit the Smoky Mountains National Park and then homeward!

Thursday
Praise the Lord! We survived my cooking last night! Don’t let anyone ever tell you God don’t work miracles. :) They tore my (I mean our) cake up at lunch today and it was sweet! My cooking career has begun. Today was a long day but a full one as well. Earlier this week, Sheldon, the ministry coordinator, was stressed because he accidentally didn't turn an important grant in on time. Rather than make a big deal about it, he simply came to us and asked us to pray. Well, this morning, God answered that prayer and we were informed that the grant application has been accepted! God is so good!!
For lunch, we made this amazing pizza bake thingy that everyone loved. I got to work downstairs with Randy for the first time and I really enjoyed my time with him. He was so upfront and honest about the type of donations he took. He told us that he didn't care if this was for poor or not: They deserved the same high quality luxuries that we have. It really taught me that I need to view others the same way. There is nobody that is “too poor” or “too needy” in God’s eyes. We are all filthy, dirty sinners that for some reason God still continuously loves.
We also got to go visit Ms. Willie, a 100 year old lady. It was so amazing to see a person that has lived for so long and has still got the same joy she must have had when she was 20 years old. God’s joy can transcend age and that is something I will definitely take away from my time with Ms. Willie. Talking to her reminded me so much of my grandmother and the love I always feel when I am around her. I will show much more appreciation for her when I get home now because of this experience.
It is truly saddening and disheartening to know that we have one day left with Of One Accord. I have never grown this closely this fast with a ministry as I have with Of One Accord. This trip has been an encouragement to me to not let these memories and lessons and challenges God has laid on my heart reside just here in Rogersville, but to apply them all to my daily life. It is so amazing how God works and how when we are daily submitting to him in obedience, he is daily providing us with all we need. Just ask Sheldon!

Wednesday
Today was a very awesome day working with Of One Accord Ministry. Mickey, Glenn, and I went out to a food bank to gather and deliver food to the town’s food pantries. Seeing how everything works was very cool. It was nice getting all the details on how they got started and noticing how much they are devoted to serve their community.
While in the process of delivering, I gave a special prayer to this one young girl who I feel needs love and care from the people around her. Hearing what she was going through was heartbreak breaking and put me in tears. I have a best friend who was, and maybe still is, going the same things as her so this situation and prayer really did stick out to me. Crying was not what I expected, but it was all worth it. I just know that I felt so much better afterwards and I feel with enough prayers, this young girl will be standing tall again with God on her side.
Later, for our last event, we all went to travel through the mountains.  I never have been that high up unless I was on a roller coaster. The view was so beautiful and very peaceful.  If I lived here, that would be my place to get away.
