It says something when the sequel having a giant statue puppeted by a thought to be dead god bursting out from your basement who then steals a piece of your soul, getting revived by a god (if you say no you get reincarnated as a cat), waking up on a ship miles from your old haunt and then getting attacked by pirates before washing up on a shore and doing a bit of psychopomp work on the side while figuring out where exactly you are is a way more normal beginning.

You go looking for berries and come back to everyone dead and a magic storm that kills the rest who might have survived

you escape and go through a cave full of deaths slimes only to come out to a crazy ass dude feeding people to a spirit machine of sorts it kills these people and your friends and sends you to the shadow realm

you come back and collect said sacrificed peoples flesh and strip your dead friends naked from their valuables

then you walk your ass to the nearest town and save a kidnapped cook On the way who was kidnapped so he could cook for the bandits no other reason

You walk into said town and half the population is hung on a tree and the lord of the place is waiting for his new born with a knife in his hand cause he "might not have a soul"

the outcome of this affects if you can own a home here or not for whatever reason

You try to talk to people like a normal fucking Person but you only seem to be able to reach their souls

you go to an inn to rest and meet a wizard telling a dude to go fuck his sister but only because he "mistranslated" a few words

you walk into the inn and said cook you saved earlier gives you a pie...

you go to sleep and one of the hung people on the tree talks to you in your dreems
