Big edible good for plane. Very good for plane. I will fall asleep or be entertained and it’s a win win either way. Because I’m pretty chill on airplanes! But big edible not so good for airport. I have airport nightmares frequently. Usually I keep it together. But it’s been a stressful week and I had to take big edible before security because you can’t take marijuana across borders. So it’s kicking in I’m in the airport, stressed but dealing. I decide to go for pre-flight pee. In the bathroom I get an intrusive thought. See, I have OCD that, after many years of therapy, is fairly well controlled. But i definitely have OCD about losing things. I have checking compulsions, that are usually not too invasive. I have intrusive thought: what if I forgot my epi pens. My epi pens can save my life. I have pretty severely anaphylactic food allergies. So, I checked. But that meant I had to unpack my back to peek at the bottom. I have them and I applaud myself. What a fucking genius! I remembered to pack them. I struggle to repack my very stuffed backpack, and my waterbottle drops and rolls into the next stall. so I hastily exit the stall to organize outside so I can grab it as quickly as possible. I’m ready to go grab it when a phone buzzes somewhere and I reach out and I realize it’s not mine because I don’t have my phone. It’s in the stall I had just used. It’s locked. I don’t even know how many people have been in there since I left. I don’t know if it’s still there. I have to believe that Hashem will help me with this one like he helped me get my passport on time. I wait for what seems like forever, taking deep breaths as my heart races from the anxiety and the marijuana. Then finally the door opens, and a middle aged white woman exits and I see the picture of my girlfriend and my dog and I said “was there-“ and she goes “oh yeah” and hands it to me. Almost in tears I say “thank you!” And she makes a little noise and pats me on the back. I rush out to my gate which is boarding in 15 minutes. I’m deep breathing. I can do this shit.

last night my partner held a somber little passover seder to show me what it’s about and when they got to the part where they were supposed to open the door for elijah they paused, frowned, and said “oh. huh. there is a clown.” and I looked out. and sure enough. there was a clown.

Take the memory, leave the shell! Watch what happens when we return seashells to the beach & marine hermit crabs!
Seashells are so important to beaches for a whole host of reasons.
🐚Over-shelling can affect hermit crabs because it reduces the availability of suitable shells for them to inhabit. Hermit crabs rely on empty shells of other creatures for protection and shelter. When there are too few shells available, hermit crabs may be forced to inhabit inadequate shells & pollution as homes, which can hinder their growth and make them more vulnerable to predators and environmental stressors. This can ultimately impact their survival and reproductive success.
🐚Shells provide homes or attachment surfaces for algae, sea grass, sponges, coral and a host of other microorganisms.
🐚Animals such as decorator crabs and octopus use shells as camouflage and many fish use shells as hiding places to avoid predators.
🐚Shells help to stabilize beaches and anchor seagrass.
🐚Shells are used by shorebirds to build nests.
🐚When shells break down, they provide nutrients for the organisms living in the sand or for those that build their own shells. (Shells are a major source of calcium.) I’m a firm believer in when we know better, we do better. I once shelled, and then when I learned all of this, I returned all shells that were not sprayed with a clear varnish to the beach & watched the marine hermit crabs go wild changing shells that were so needed!

No, actually, we are responsible for the impact of our own actions.
When are we going to talk about the fact that the encampment protests are actually taking attention away from what’s happening in Gaza

Just watching my peers one by one come out in support of the encampments is extremely painful

But but but I thought that after October 7th yall said that “decolonization wasn’t a metaphor”!
Palestinians see Israel as a colonial project that tore them away from their homeland and Jews see Israel as a decolonial project that brought them back to their homeland and we can sit here and argue about who is “right” for 7 billion years or we can hold two narratives at once and recognize that the strip of land between the Jordan River and the Mediterranean Sea is a homeland for both Jews and Palestinians so we need to find some common ground and a way for both groups to live their freely

anera feeds people in gaza every day. they are very transparent and they post images of their work on social media. they are also highly rated by multiple charity watchdogs.

I support divestment from arms funding and the Israeli government. But protestors at my school are demanding the end to archaeological research trips in Israel.
Why? Afraid we’re going to keep digging up our own artefacts on the land we’re “colonizers” on?
im shaking every single student organizer and screaming that they need to separate a demand to divest from arms funding from the demand for a university to cut off all contact with Israeli and Israeli-American scholars and students, a demand which no university will agree to because implementing it would in many cases be very illegal
