Yeah FUCK IT!

This woman has to be THE worst Mother in the franchise.

She had turned ravens pet into a bone rat right in front of her, She had locked raven in her room every time raven did smt good and had neglected Raven, now you could say she was just another victim of the system or wanted to prepare raven for her destiny like the other parents? But you know what stands out? SHE KNOWS! SHES AWARE! She knows That destiny means NOTHING! She knows that teaching- actually no torturing raven into being evil does fucking nothing she only did it for HER own fucked up delusion.

She had not only manipulated raven in dragon games for her own benefits but also Had hurt Raven’s loved ones, Then also saying herself “she’s going to be just like me because i gave her no choice” how does EAH tik tok see this and still think she’s a better mom than snow white? Yeah snow white isn’t that innocent either in Dragon games but she didn’t poison and hurt Apple’s loved ones!! And then the evil queen praising and saying how proud she is it’s immediately replaced with a “you’re more like me then you realize, like it or not you can’t change your destiny” KNOWING HOW THAT EFFECTS RAVEN!!!

Would also like to add how her Calling raven beautiful always makes me uncomfortable knowing the fact Raven looks identical to her.

Yeah the evil is iconic,interesting and well written but Pls be so fr on her parenting skills.

apple is down bad from as early on as thronecoming. like YEAH even as early as that her behavior is so "🤨❓" at certain points and it doesn't even fall into the "im obsessed with you bc of destiny" category lmao. but she fights it because the revelation that "omg lesbians!" doesn't come to her till after dg.

raven on the other hand, absolutely does not like apple that way from the beginning (ive read many rapple fics where raven falls first and it's a personal pet peeve of mine cause babygirls! raven did not like her at first PERIOD. like im not saying that she hated her, but apple was so annoying at first lmaoo. she toned it down a bit after thronecoming). basically in my mind, she starts catching feelings after spring unsprung, then what she's feeling solidifies after WTW.

so that period inbetween WTW and DG would have been the perfect time for them to get together. cause at that point, they were in sync! they've solved many of their differences (not all of them obviously, but many). they were close! they genuinely liked each other! (cause rapple at the beginning was very much like "i like you but you're annoying so i kinda tolerate you" / "i wanna be frenemies cause im obsessed with you" vs "i genuinely like you for who you are" by the end of the series. like raven always liked her, but never liked liked her, you know what i mean?)

but apple's insecurities got the best of her and she messed it up. and things were TOO different after DG for them to get together. (i don't think raven ever really hated her after. like i really believe she really forgave her when she did in dg, but things were NOT the same after all that lmao)

so yeah them being ALMOST canon exes makes so much sense. they were like two pieces of a puzzle that should have come together perfectly, but /didn't/. and it's soooo *chef's kiss* to me fr.

I like rapple as a doomed relationship, i like rapple in a unrequited matter, I like rapple in a angsty Matter.

Simply because i love how in show and books they feed us 90% Angst and 10% fluff, I don’t ship rapple in a mutual romance because i personally think they don’t work and i find it hard to ship two characters if the feeling never feels like working in a mutual matter. BUT THATS ALSO WHY I LOVE THEM! they are so toxic, They aren’t meant for each other and it makes it so fucking angsty and delicious.

It just makes it 100% better when Apple starts crushing on her FUTURE enemy because GOD it’s evidential, it’s written everywhere, the whole “i want you to sign” vs “i don’t want to sign” is literally a metaphor of Apple wanting to be with raven while raven doesn’t want to be with her.

It just makes it better when apple has DREAMT of a future with raven, It just makes it better how Apple is always conflicted between destiny and her personal feelings when it comes down to raven but none of her other friends IT JUST MAKES IT BETTER!

And then there’s raven who Straight off gives Apple the same treatment she gives all her friends, it’s like How raven had saved Apple many of times she has done it to many of her friends as well(Mainly Maddie) add to ravens obvious liking towards dexter.

It makes it so better how every time Raven is just like “You are a great friend” APPLE IS JUST SUFFOCATING INSIDE!

When Apple and Raven came to know about Darling's kiss...

Raven was very cold and distant, lately…

Apple: “Raven? We have to talk.” Raven: “No, we don’t, Apple.”                                                                                                       Apple: “Raven, there’s something wrong?”

Raven:“Oh, you noticed. For once. Well, don’t worry, it’s just a problem of mine.”

Apple: “Raven, if there’s anything that bothers you, I’d like to kno…” Raven: “Since when do you care about how I feel?!”

Apple: “Wha…?!” Raven: “Haven’t it been always that way? You’re right because you’re the Royal among Royals, I’m wrong no matter what ‘cause I’m selfish!” Apple is now very worried: “…Raven. Please tell me what’s going on. Please.” Raven stays quiet for some second, then: “It’s about Darling’s kiss.” Apple: “Oh… w-well, true, it was truly unexpected, but… why it makes you so upset?” Raven: “B-Because… I wanted to be me instead of Darling.”

Apple: “?!” Raven: “Oh for Narrators’ sake… all of this is pitiable. Just… j-just forget it, please…” Apple: “Raven, no! I-I’d want you to explain me…” Raven: “What there’s to explain? I wanted to be the one to wake you up with the… t-t-true love…. kiss…but… Darling did it… this means that SHE is your True Love… ‘Destiny’ said so.”

Apple:“W-wait…! You… do… do you love me?!” Raven: “It doesn’t matter, not anymore.“0

Apple is shocked: "Raven, I… I don’t know what to say…” Raven: “You don’t have to say anything, I told you, it’s just my probl…” Apple: “How can you say you love me after all I did it to you?!” It’s now Raven’s turn to be shocked. She then understands what the princess said: “Apple, I’m not blameless for everything it happened until today. I was sure about my decision on Legacy Day, but I never thought about the consequences. I gave you a lot of problems, and I didn’t do much to help… but now you have a chance to live Happily Ever After, and I won’t get in your way.” Apple trembles, then shouts: “I WANT you to be in my way!”

Raven sighs: “Apple, you know by this point, I’m not going to be your villai…”

Apple hugs Raven. Very tightly: “Villain or not, you’re still my Destiny.” Raven: “Don’t be silly, that is Darling, it’s undeniable.” Apple stares at Raven, then smiles lightly: “A little time ago, some reckless but hextraordinary girl told that sometimes, following your heart and following your destiny, are the same thing. And any time I look into my heart, I see you.”

Raven: “R-really…?” Apple:  "Really.“ Raven: "Just to be sure… you see me in… THAT way?” Apple rolls her eyes: “Yes, Raven.” The two stares in each other’s eyes for a while, then kiss. Apple giggles: “I couldn’t have hoped in a happier ending!” Raven caresses Apple’s cheek: “I think this is more an all new beginning.” Apple mimics a pout: “Do you alwas have to contradict me?” They both laugh The Evil Queen saw everything from the girls’ room’s mirror: “Well, this makes things a little bit… complicated.”

a little idea I had since all the flame wars about Rapple vs Dapple started after DG. Objectively speaking, I personally think Rapple is more valid, since we have some actual background about it throughout the series, while Dapple came out pretty much out of nowhere… :P

the headcanon here is that Raven and Apple never confessed their feelings because they both feel guilty for not being comprehensive enough about each other’s viewpoints.

Rereading the EAH books and getting upset over the fact that the show didn't explore some of the (imo) more interesting themes of the story

(More musings below lmao)

The show had plenty of elements I adore too, and developed some characters that the book didn't so much [like Darling, Daring, and Cupid]- I just wish the show had more time to really dive in to more complex plots, rather than joking vignettes. Like you could TELL the show was starting to head in that direction with stuff like Dragon Games, and of course that's when it got cancelled :(.

And don't get me started on the HUMOR differences. The Ever After High show made me laugh for sure, but the type of comedy was very different from the book's. The show's humor tended to feel sort of "how do you do fellow kids do you like cell phones well this character also likes cell phones and they're called SPELL phones get it", whereas the books had a lot of clever, more satirical jokes.

There's just a lot of little, quick things, like Apple always feeding bird seed to birds outside her window and accidentally over-feeding them, or Briar escaping a tower by falling asleep and eavesdropping.

I think part of it boils down to the books being aimed at a slightly older audience than the show tbh, but if there's anything kids cartoons have shown it's that TV-Y can get surprisingly mature at times. Idk, I just miss this series so much. Justice for Ever After High, gone too soon. 😭
