No one talks about how hard it is when your mood is constantly switching between "Its okay, i don't care. i'm fine" and "I don't know how much more i can take."

thinking about how bucky barnes would absolutely call you “doll” even when you’re not together yet — it’s very old man of him, but he’s nothing if not a huge flirt, and he’d be lying if he said he didn’t love the way you get so flustered when he does it …

you’re helping him bandage up a particularly bad wound — completely concentrated on his abdomen where his shirt has been sliced open, blood gushing from the wound. and he can barely feel it because your hands are so soft and gentle, and you’re standing so close to him, and you look really pretty with your hair falling over your face like that. bucky doesn’t think (you tend to have that effect on him), he just reaches out and pushes your hair behind your ear for you.

you go very still, hands hovering like you don’t know what to do. and then you say, “thank you,” in this shy, soft voice, with your eyes zeroed in on his wound so as to not meet his gaze. and you’re so cute, bucky can’t help but say, “no problem, doll,” with a brush of his knuckles to your jaw. he realises right after he says it that it was probably cruel, seeing as you were already flustered from his touching, and now you’re flushed up to your ears and practically buzzing. but he can’t bring himself to be very sorry, especially not when he can clearly see you biting back a pleased smile.
