Dear Jaime Hilario,
You are amazing. You are definitely one of the top highlights of my year and the peace you gave me is something I turn to when times get rough after we met. I can’t even express how thankful I am for you. You are one of those who made me realize and feel what it really means to be a Lasallian. There’s something about you that makes me fall in love. Or maybe it was a lot of different things that when put together just fills up my soul. It was singing the Alma Mater Song with you. It was the site of the pupils in their everyday life with you. It was interacting with them. It was waving and highfiving them goodbye before they went home. It was the sounds we’ve heard after everyone has gone home—the waves of the ocean, the bullfrogs, the insects, everything. It was how simple and peaceful life is with you.
Thank you, Jaime Hilario. I long for the day we meet again. Hopefully, next year.

Dear Home,
So many times throughout the year, I did not know where you were. I looked for you in the place I was born and grew up in that I can no longer grow with, that each time I return something is different. I actually fear that one day, I’ll “go home” to find everything completely changed since the first time I left. I looked for you in the arms of a significant other na hindi ko naman talaga pala tahanan. Tumahan ako nung wala na siya. I looked for you in my family, na while tahanan ko talaga sila, I have to admit there’s always something different each time.
I have realized that change is very hard to accept for me when it comes to you. I always thought that “home” meant a constant you can always return to. But who am I kidding, the only constant thing in this world is change. And I cope with believing that you are where the heart is. And my heart is not with anyone, any place, or anything. My heart is here with me beating in my chest—home is wherever I go. I will learn to make the world my home.
But through all this, thank you. Thank you for existing—temporarily in the arms of a lover and more permanently in my family.
