One of the coolest parts about being a fan of fanfic is you can actually contact the author. And they will respond. And then you can message them nonstop until they allow you into their lives and then you’re becoming their beta reader and suddenly you know multiple authors of all types of fiction books and fanfic authors who will drag out their deleted fics for you to read at a moments notice.

Anyway. Comment on fics and message authors. It’s absolutely worth it.

i’ve been depressed for so long that the sadness comforts me,,

writing hurt no comforts helps getting it out of my system, plus i love making characters miserable. reading it is healing too bc i choose to be sad. i go into a fic knowing it will be sad. the sadness comforts me bc i’ve known it for so long + i’m doing it with intent, with a plan, on purpose, safely etc which almost makes it empowering bc it’s all in my own hands.

i think it’s kind of like people dealing with chronic pain more or less often being into pain play (hi) bc that way the pain is in their power. it’s calculated, it’s predicted, it’s the pain they’re willingly, purposefully experiencing, and that control is healing when your life is full of physical pain you can’t control.

the same goes for mental/emotional pain, at least for me

plus, reading/writing about characters suffering is also comforting to me bc i struggle with similar or even the same issues, and it creates the feeling that i’m not alone in this, which helps too

Im deeply afraid of people who willingly read angst without any fluffy endings, like are you not sad not enough in your life??? 😭😭

people in books and tv shows are always getting so upset they throw an untouched meal in the trash. that would never be me. i'd receive the worst news of my life and still be like Let me put this in the fridge.

It is so funny how Takemichi tried one (1) time to correct Mikey about his name and then gave up for the rest of the series when everyone else started doing it
