I learned in a Latin Studies class (with a chill white dude professor) that when the Europeans first saw Aztec cities they were stunned by the grid. The Aztecs had city planning and that there was no rational lay out to European cities at the time. No organization.

I, a hearing person who likes subtitles just as a preference, shouldn't have to read a subtitle that's obvious nonsense, go back a couple seconds, and listen again in order to figure out what's going on. An accessibility feature should not be the most half-assed part of a professionally made production. Scripted media has absolutely no excuse for not having subtitles or having subtitles that aren't perfectly verbatim. Professional captioning services should be ashamed of the shoddy work that they put out. Captions should be treated as a part of the production, just like filming, editing, audio balancing, etc - and anything that releases with missing or bad captions should be seen as unfinished

Lin-Manuel Miranda is not untalented but he shouldn't be making billion dollar disney movies or whatever. This guy should be in a garage making deeply earnest but unpolished rap opera concept albums and posting them online for a niche fanbase of no more than 100,000 too-online theatre nerds. Hiring him to make forgettable paint-by-numbers radio friendly disney princess pop is trying to raise devil's pupfish in captivity. You have to stop giving him money and let him go make cringe in his natural habitat or you're never going to get anything good.

On the Nextdoor app someone made a post like “I just moved to this state and there’s a bunch of big ass spiders in my yard, what are these? Should I call an exterminator?” and everyone in the comments was like ‘ew. gross. yuck.’ except for me who is frantically like NO THAT IS A WOLF SPIDER DON’T HURT IT. BEAUTIFUL ANIMAL. LARGEST NATIVE SPIDER SPECIES IN NORTH AMERICA. THEY’RE USUALLY DOCILE. LEAVE IT ALONE AND IT WILL PROTECT YOUR HOME.
