WHAT IS AN INTERNET THREAT?

- Internet threats are a category of cybersecurity risks that may cause an undesirable action via the internet.

DIFFERENT TYPES OF INTERNET THREATS

1. MALWARE - Developed by cyber attackers, designed to cause extensive damage of data and systems or to gain unauthorized access to a network. Kinds of malwares are: virus, worm, trojan, spyware, adware, ransomware.

2. SPAM - Are irrelevant or inappropriate messages sent on the internet to a large number of recipients. An unwanted email mostly from bots or advertisers. Spam is a popular means of virus propagation and is a serious security threats.

3. PHISHING - A cybercrime in which a target or targets are contacted by email, telephone or text message by someone posing as a legitimate institution to lure individuals into providing sensitive data such as personally identifiable information, banking and credit card details, and passwords.

HOW TO SPOT INTERNET THREATS

• GRAMMAR - look for typos, odd punctuation, and unusual phrasing.

• POOR QUALITY IMAGE - the use of resolution images may indicate a malicious webpage or message.

• URL - hover over a link to inspect its true destination.

•MALICIOUS PROGRAMS - check software that serve web infrastructure and services.
