Oh damn, it's been a while
I started to take the leftover adhd medication I still had (thanks again to the friend who gave it to me) and it's great.
I feel euphoric but in a weird, calm way.
I sit in a lecture on system theory and learn about crosscorrelation and it just... works
I can remember the last lectures, can connect the dots and see the bigger picture
I hear the whispers of other students and it feels like I am floating above them
I do not have to compare myself to them, I am part of the crowd and the crowd understands the lecture
I have this heightened confidence but it's realistic
I feel like I could take on anything but I know I don't have to. I will take two courses this semester and I will pass the exams
I will find a new job and I will find a psych to prescribe me more of this stuff
The universe is benevolent towards me and wishes me well
On a different note, hrt is great. It's now almost everytime I look into a mirror that I see myself. I also switcher up the dosages, more prog and estrogel in the armpits instead of the forearm.
The girhorny is loud
Anyways, even though I can type this while listening to the lecture, I shouldn't rely on it

Walking around the lab with a 32000€ precision instrument the size of a large tower pc under my arm feels wrong, even though im insured.
If I trip that thing is a very expensive brick.

Nvm it wasn't the production hall, the power went out in the entire area and there's a smoke cloud rising a few blocks over
My train will probably be late, they are always looking for an excuse for interrupted service
Good to know thatvthe safety mechanisms at my companys lab work
It was kinda scary when i sent a command through a terminal to a small testing setup and all of a sudden the power goes out, i hear several spring-loaded Relais make a loud "clunk" and somewhere a siren I don't recognise goes off
It was just a current surge because someone in the production hall turned on two enormous injection molds at the same time but still, kinda scary

Aaaaaa i forgot about the construction work near me and took the bus that usually takes me home
The bus went a completely different route because of the construction work
Instead of riding the bus for two more stops and just walk a bit longer from i left my brain on autopilot and got off at the next opportunity and took the bus to the train station
Major friday-afternoon-traffic says no and now im in a bus going walking speed with no ac
Urgh

Crew attire cosplay?
Lately I've been thinking a lot about "what would separate mecha crew equipment from that of a tank crew, or a fighter crew": A lot of military surplus stuff is already really close to what we're going for, and I realized "Motorcycle boots look a lot more like mech pilot stuff than military boots do", which got me thinking what other odd equivalences exist.
The one which really surprised me was how famous mecha live action SF Gunhed used a wetsuit as a stand-in for "generic scifi bodysuit", and that it worked weirdly well, actually?
"Why not latex?"
Latex rips too easily in contact with straps and hard elements, overheats far, far too easily despite having the looks. Thin neoprene works. really well.
So I kept exploring.
One thing I did seriously debate is other than rappelling equipment, would a pilot need something like a rigid knee-brace for hard landings to protect the ACL when they disembark from the robot which is common with high impact parachute equipment.
Some varieties also include counter-weighted springs which make it harder for you to close your knee, but make lifting heavy things on your back and climb much much easier during the ascent phase.
That led me towards Deck Crew helmets, which meet the hood requirement, and of all things, chin wraps which are really unobstructive and you can eat and drink while wearing one pretty comfortably (I say this as someone currently stuck wearing one)
So what we're looking at here is the HGU-24 and HGU-25, often worn by deck crews because it gets along just fine with the famous MCU-2/P AKA "Millenium" mask famous with drone communities as they're designed to be worn together.
Its literally the exact same mask with a minor paint adjustment.
"What's the difference between a drone and a pilot?" "One wears AXENT and latex, the other wears HGU-25 and neoprene." "Anything else?" "Drones have less sex and do as they're told"
Its got the bash-plates you want for an ejector-seat, but it also has the padded foam you want for an impact element, and if it latches properly and the jaw mechanism is well made enough, you could probably include a hans mechanism attached to the jacket which locks into a socket in the pilot's seat to stop a pilot from breaking their neck in a collision.
What do you guys think?
Any suggestions? What I'm really curious about is what you think pilots would remove, customize or alter for practical or decorative purposes.
This is basically the result of roughly a year of casual research into pilot attire, outfits and looks.
The helm and the hood seem to be where the most manual cosplay stitching and 3D printing work is likely going to be required, with the wrap and helmhood.
Addendum:
I've not gone into waste management systems (UCL/FCL human-factors engineering stuff with internal and external recovery systems), since I'm looking at this mainly as an attainable costume or ensemble.
Edit:
I am learning some of you use aquatic mecha and find this unsatisfactory.
And you won't shut up about how the coolant mass flow rate lets you do really wild shit with your weapons my "land-loving" platform even can't dream of
While I am jealous by your sheer tonnage and the output of your reactors, I've got you covered.
Behold: Immersion suits.
They also make surprisingly good sleeping bags, even if you're on water.
They're literally designed to keep you alive if you're forced to abandon an oil platform, and are known to include a radio and even rations and a water filter.

I think the HR lady is suspecting something...
Had a meeting today about my performance at university (basically my job is tied to my bachelor and im behind schedule with it) and how this semester i have to basically prove my motivation to them if i want to keep my job and after my superior left the room she asked to speak to me a bit without him in the room.
During the meeting i had my notebook on my desk and among other things theres a trans flag sticker on it. In the following few minutes she repeatedly glanced over to it.
She also kept repeating that if there is something thats bothering me i should talk to her about it and shell listen to it and try to make accommodations. The way she phrased was a bit weird, she basically offered me to vent (wont do that in a meeting with HR) and acted like she wanted to get something out of me.
Also she pulled out the good old "have you tried to use a planner" when I mentioned some of the problems i habe with organising myself and being productive.
I showed her my to do list on my phone which has backlogs from over a year ago for time-sensitive tasks and three years for general todos, that did shut her up.
Maybe a job change to something more flexible wont be that bad, especially since im the three years i work here three engineers in my department and the former HR lady have quit due to problems with the company...

Work office is getting remodeled so my department (R&D) had to move to either homeoffice or the lab. I was sent to the lab and since other there are only so many desks, they sat me in the acoustic isolation chamber.
Apparently nobody else wanted to go there because it makes them feel weird.
Sadly i have to keep the door open for some air because even tho we make specialised AC units (among other things) the company has no ACs anywhere except the climate controlled chambers used to test said ACs.
Also have to let some light in because the lights in there are the brightest and worst LED spots they could find so no complete silence for me.
At least that one coworker im pretty sure is neurodiverse is also in the lab so we can procrastinate work by him rambling over his obscure smart home applications.
I just hope i nail the exam on Friday
