Tbh any time someone tries to insist that loumand's relationship wasn't done dirty i'm wondering what kind of show we watched. if they actually did handle it properly we wouldn't have gotten dreamstat forced into many of their paris scenes (which happened mainly because AMC executives complained about not enough samstat presence). we wouldn't have gotten a rushed break up scene and much of their dialogue cut to shove in a contrived loustat reunion that even sam thought was tasteless.
i didn't go into s2 expecting a wholesome and unproblematic relationship. the tragedy in paris along with armand's betrayal severely impacted them, but it made for a compelling story. i did expect writers to at least do it justice without propping up an important relationship at the expense of another. there is plenty of time in future seasons to explore more of loustat but they couldn't even handle one season of louis with someone else?
it was already annoying about how the marketing paired off the actors with their respective white partners in interviews to appease loud book fans. it's still strange how in the books it was undeniable that louis loved and was attracted to armand and vice versa (iwtv was told from louis' perspective long after they parted ways and yet he still remembered how he felt about armand). but in the show adaptation people want to insist it's all ambiguous and fake. that they never cared for each other in for their while relationship and that the entirety of 77+ years was all ultimately about the blonde man when both louis and armand are adapted as poc. funny how that works.

i've seen a lot of people assume that the dubai 'dead inside chic' interior decor was armand's doing. however, considering that when we hear armand make interior decor suggestions he brings up fucking lemon print wallpaper, i think we have to open ourselves to the possibility that louis' response to being in a dead-end, controlling relationship with an ancient monster is increasingly brutalist modern decor. which i think is funnier
