THREE USEFUL TREE MAINTENANCE TIPS
Tree Maintenance Tips. While there are some trees that are able to stand the test of time, there are others that hold a special place within us, and if we take care of them, we will be able to enjoy them for many years to come.
Here are three of the best maintenance tips to consider when it comes to taking care of your trees.
*Firstly, always make sure that you plant any trees in the proper location. Begin by selecting a tree that will work well for your area of residence before then locating a spot that will obtain enough sun, as well as provide enough space for it to grow. Prior to digging, you will want to make sure you aren’t too close to any power lines, underground utility lines, and your home itself.
*You will also want to consider making good use of mulch. This is something that can help to insulate tree roots, as well as protect them from lawnmower cuts and prevent dry soil. The best way to achieve this is to remove all grass underneath the tree before then spreading approximately 2 to 4 inches of mulch, making sure that you don’t cover the base of the trunk.
*Properly watering your tree is also another important maintenance tip to implement. In the event that it may not have rained in your area for a period of several weeks, take the time to check your tree and see if it needs to be watered. Typically, trees that are more mature will need to have one inch of water given to it every week. In terms of new trees, these will require between 4 and 10 gallons of water every week during the first one or two seasons.
Tree Maintenance Tips. Having professional tree care throughout the year ensures that your trees will live long and flourish in your landscape. Getting a winter tree assessment is essential to finding and addressing any problems that could become more serious by the time spring arrives. Trees play a key role in providing habitats for aquatic life and wildlife and help to keep streams, rivers, and other waterways healthy. Without trees, the wide variety of living species, from insects to fish to mammals and everything in between, would be unable to survive. 🌳💚

Compost tea is sometimes described as a liquid version of compost because, just like compost, it is nutrient-dense and feeds the soil, which in turn boosts soil microbes that feed your trees. It is a water-based extraction from compost that many claim promotes healthy growth due to the microorganisms in it that make nutrients available. Those who use compost tea say it is a straightforward way to get nutrients directly to the roots of your trees. ✨🌳🚿 Learn more in our recent blog post!

🌱 BENEFITS OF FALL PLANTING 🌱 Planting trees in the fall allows for an extra growing season–the combination of cooler fall temperatures and more rain than during hotter months means that your new trees will have more time to establish their root systems before the heat returns, requiring them to work harder to do so.

NOTE: It is important NOT to clean out nesting boxes before August. The best time of year to clean them is in the autumn, starting in September at the earliest and completed before winter arrives. This way, any birds using the nesting boxes should have fledged, leaving the nest inside abandoned, and no new birds will have moved into the boxes. 🪺🕊🌳 Learn more about how you can "PREPARE NESTING BOXES FOR BIRDS" in our recent blog post!
